  • Changing the rear brake pads and discs on my 2017 Jaguar XE 2.0D. Includes putting the parking brake into maintenance mode (without diagnostic equipment). Note, I am not a professional mechanic, just a DIYer.

Guy, I really appreciate the time, patience and effort that you put into this video, especially as you said, doing it first time around, and difficult with one hand of course. We learned heaps from you. In the script, the piston squeeze tool is stated as a Laser 5751. - Where did you acquire it please, and does it need to specifically be 5751. Thank you. Much love from Scotland, ❤ X

Thanks for that, I was having trouble with getting the service mode for the EPB. Strange that the outer pad on the RH side of the car was the most worn: mine was exactly the same with plenty of meat on the other 3 pads.

The tool to get the brake cylinder back in has to be screwed back in with the turn handle not with the pressure nut or you could fowl the calliper.

when you have put it in maintenance mode, do you have to leave the ignition on, or can you turn it off while you do the brakes? I have seen info suggesting that you must leave it on, but as the procedure might take a couple of days I'm not so sure.
