I'm brand new to CPAP and this video was PERFECT, 2 nights of waking up with water splashing my nose/face was discouraging and I didn't even know how to really describe it. Thank you!!!!

I'm surprised no one sells sponge inserts for masks to catch the water that gets through. I always sleep with my windows open, and as of Fall and the 55F weather at night, this it a real problem. I'll try all of these solutions (except heating my room) and see. Thanks!
Update: tried lowering my CPAP machine and that did the trick. Haven’t had a watery morning yet!

Probably because it may be a health hazard. Sponges are probably where bacteria can build over time like a periti dish. You'd either have to remember to replace them often or you may actually get sick from breathing in the tainted fumes.

I had air sense 10 and never had a problem. I now got air sense 11 and I have hated it so far because of this issue. The popping kept waking me up and I tried changing the level in the machine but it still happened.

Same, I even figured out on my own to pull it up and hang it to get the water to fall down. Doesn't prevent it completely though so I woke up just about every night at some point due to water falling up my nose and had to dry off my mask due to the condensation around the sides.

I have the humidifier disconnected on the Resmed 11. Along with using a side panel..
    Yet, cold rainout took place.
Concern that moisture reaching the mask was not also purified water..
Instead, just moisture from my breath..
Concern of germs reaching my lungs.

Very informative video, the only exception I have is having the tube with a dependent loop. While this would keep water from collecting in the facial appliance, it would allow rainout to deposit water in the dependent part of the tube to collect resulting in decreased airflow and making a gurgling noise.

I use BMC G3 A20 + Philips Dreamwear undernose mask. I don't get rainout (condensation) in the tube, but only rainout in the mask. Maybe because Philips mask (as you also show in the video at 1:36 minutes) has a lot of areas that air goes through without heating before reaching the nose? Do you also have this problem? How can I fix this? Thanks.

  • @timladusau5595

The res med air sense 10 never had a problem as it had a fan that always ran air thru it and it stayed dry when not in use. This is missing on the G3 which is the reason rainout happens

For the past 2 nights I've been experiencing a tsunami over here. Finally got the air cold enough to sleep but kept waking up to gurggling sounds and water everywhere after disconnecting the tube. I'll just put it on the floor. I have a tube wrap but I dont want it to make the tube warm. I need it as cold as possible otherwise, I can't sleep with my Bipap.

Another very useful video. I use the Resmed Airfit N30i, climate heated tube and use an under mattress hose lift ( this is useful if you travel as it collapses ). I never thought of using a hook on the wall though I would need a loop around the tube so it didn’t come off the hook. I might try that as it would be a much cleaner minimalistic solution. Thank you Tristan x

I have the Luna G3. My machine had rainout 5 minutes ago. That’s why I’m awake. My machine is well below my bed. My humidifier was on 2. I just disconnected the tube, shook out the water and turned it down to one. I hate this machine. I’ll never own another one from this company.

Hi Chris, nope, excess water will flow back into the humidifier. But a majority of droplets will remain in the lower tubing. If you have that many droplets definitely lower your humidity settings, and increase the temp of your tube (with a cover or temp. setting if possible). Thanks for the question!

I'm a mouth breather. I use the full face mask. Been using the Resmed Air sense 10 since 2016. I used the humidifier religiously with distilled water at first and still had dry mouth. Got so frustrated with the water build up that I felt that this machine was going to drown me in my sleep. I had my sleep center adjust the machine so I did not have to deal with any water at all! Good riddens !!

I just bought the Resmed airmini with the P10 mask. I was using the Humidx and the pillow mask was full of water and dripped into my nose. I woke up at least once every hour. will be tubing wrap solve the issue? there is a humidx chamber, so the wrap wont be able to cover the whole length.

As a new cpap user with the ResMed 11, I am having condensation and am trying some adjustments as per your video. Question: With a nasal mask (N20) is your face under the mask supposed to be completely dry in the morning or is there some dampness, even with proper use and settings?
