That really pissed off Alaric, he was very cold to Targs especially Jahaerys He even says that my brother would have been alive if not for you, imagine saying this to a king with a dragon
Yeah when the king and queen showed up to winterfell he spent half the time roasting them. Later on he did warm up to the queen but not so much the king.
He was lucky that Jahaerys was a level headed and humble Targaryen given that half of them are crazy. Had the coin flip of fate landed on tails at his birth, he would've executed Stark immediately ... hell maybe his entire family would've been condemned or at the very least lost the title of "Warden of the North". And then another war with the north probably would've began due to another Targaryen's terrible decisions ... 💀
@@vishalmishra579 He could've just gone back to Kings Landing as if nothing happened and then struck afterward. If he was crazy but smart enough to have self preservation. But we've never really gotten a smart-crazy Targaryen have we? They either are level headed and good kings or just batsh*t insane tyrants. The closest I can think of a smart-crazy king is Baelor, that's not even to say he was "smart" (just the closest out of the insane ones) he was still broken but at least he didn't outright kill people. Well except for the prostitutes and their children when he kicked them out of Kings Landing, but could be weakly argued that wasn't directly a death sentence but the outcomes of his poor decisions.

Finally a nights watch battle video❤! Your the best! I love the detailed maps you put in your videos! I was under the impression that moles town was west of castle black.
glad you like the videos. there are quite a few instances in the books where geography can be very minorly inconsistent, it is possible this is an example of that. All i can say for sure is the version of the map i based mine on had Moles Town to the east. next time i do a re-read i'm gonna keep an eye out for that.
most of the info comes from fire and blood but it's very easy to gloss over when reading as it's sandwiched between a lot of really important events. This battle totally escaped my memory until i recently was re-reading that part of the book.
With the decline of the prestige of the Watch since Aegon's Conquest and the Pax Targaryena ushering in unprecedentedaly long periods of peace forcing the Watch to become increasingly more reliant on criminals and conscripts that Nights Watch rebellions aren't becoming more and more common.
Should have just put all the Faith Militant to the sword, sent them to meet the accursed gods they love so much. I honestly question Jaehaerys' wisdom in sending hundreds of religious fanatics to the one kingdom that refused to convert; this caused the North and House Stark a lot of trouble and, combined with the forced donation of the New Gift, meant they weren't very fond of Jaehaerys. It is rumoured that House Stark voted against Viserys at the Great Council because they knew he was Jaehaerys' favoured candidate for heir and they remembered the problems he caused them.
Prior to the establishment of the Targaryen dynasty, who actually was the Night's Watch main sponsor/financier? Just the Starks? Coz unlike the Citadel which has embedded itself into the political structure of the pre-Targaryen kingdoms and technically makes its own money, the Night's Watch seem to be mostly a Northern concern.
But I don't think he's ever going to come out with the last two books so I don't know if I'm going to reread the series because it might not be worth it

I feel bad for Lord Walton Stark. He sounds bold and like a total badass and he died defiant and bravely, it really is tragic
Chad Walton Stark, what a dude

@@EL-ISS the king was in Winterfell at that time, away from his dragon and very few personal guards

As always, well done. I have no recollection of reading about this Rebellion. As always these battle and Great House videos are absolutely awesome.

You shouldve used a map of all the forts along the wall but besides that cool vid.

I think the starks and from the other Northern Lords out of a cultural necessity. ‘The north remembers’ type beat. This is all speculation tho 😂
I dont understand how they make like 10 castles or 50
They have Giants or Magic to do this labor 😂😂
This story plays into what is currently happening at The Wall in story.
