I am enjoying your trip. The misty forest was both cool and spooky. I hope the mud dries up soon.

It is so healthy to give yourself permission to stop if need be - and to rest as needed. And wow, about your friend's slip and broken arm. I once left a bag in a shuttle in New Orleans. I was sure it would be lost and by gosh and by golly they made it back to me! I didn't even have cash for a tip - I felt awful. Trekking poles gone missing would so stressful. Plus you get to sleep in! I am watching backwards because I have seen you cross into VT before this video. :-) Happy days are ahead! Soon you'll be in my neck of the woods in New Jersey!

This was the worst year to hike the AT because of unprecedented rain in New England. We had a drought for years!! This summer was crazy. Hang in there!

Bladerunner, there should be no more cases where you stop at a shelter to avoid steep, rocky, slippery slopes because none of the rest are as steep and long as what you did in the Whites and Maine. The Nobos don't know what it is like. You may want to stop if there is thunderstorm risk going into the exposed Grayson Highlands and Roan Highlands and other balds of North Carolina. The sketchiest section I did in the rain is Knife's Edge of PA so I would stop for that one as well. It's not steep but the rock slabs are piled at bad angles. Happy Trails from Lampshade..

I realized that as soon as I was there! They just don’t know what they just don’t know!
