- How do you fix a Rexing dashcam that is powering on and off? Is your Rexing V1P turning on and off every few seconds? The fix may be easy and fast (takes less time than watching this video!).
Maybe the links below can help!
Rexing V1P Dashcam: amzn.to/2ymWPxf
If you prefer only a front-facing dashcam: amzn.to/2VkMknf
Kingston Canvas Go! 64GB MicroSD card (recommended by Rexing) : amzn.to/34NbRbL
Aucee hardwire kit: amzn.to/2VFEQKp

Had this problem, too. Thank you so much! 👍
I thought it had something to do with the card being full. Thanks for the video.
Formatting only temporarily solves the issue. The real issue is a faulty capacitor. If you find that the camera immediately shuts off when you turn the car off (or when unplugging USB power) then you’ll know that the camera is not receiving any power from the capacitor. Sudden shut down causes the last recorded file to be corrupted, and this causes the rebooting issue during subsequent use.
Thanks a lot! I was looking for a new dash camera, but your video solved my problem. Thanks again
I'm currently having this exact issue. Thanks for sharing your experience
Thanks for the great and simple video. Just went and reformatted my sd card. Really hope it works. Thanks again
I'd like to add my two cents to this. I am on my second Rexing dashcam. The first went dead after updating the firmware. Bestbuy honored the warranty, and I got the V1P Plus. Everything was good for about a month, and I started experiencing the constant rebooting. Turns out the SD card I was using was the issue. Although this solution did not work for me (I tried several times!), changing the SD card out to the Kingston they recommended solved my issue. Why it worked for a month I'll never know.....
Great video, but it seems that wasn’t my only issue. After reformatting it continues to power down unless using the cigar lighter cable, the smart wire kit seems to be the issue
Thank you so much! Mi Rexing v5 started to fail, it just showed the screen brand.
Thanks, Pal!! I thought my camera was toast.
thanks! had the exact same problem and the problem ended up to be the micro sd card
Thanks, Bob. I just had a DIFFERENT problem with my daughter's (same Rexing V1). Again...needed to replace the SD card.
If you just turn off the recording then the menu is available.
Trying this right now, will comment again in a week if it worked
This worked perfectly on the first try! I have the Rexing 3-dashcam set up. You just have to be quick about it as stated in the video! Great, thank you!
Thank you!
Does this works with Rexing v33 dash cam too
Thank you
It did help me too. Thanks
I too had a problem with my V1P shutting down. My problem was the battery not being charged. I took it into the house and charged it while off for a few hours and waa-laaw.. It stopped shutting down. Keep in mind I do have it hard wired so camera is on while ignition is on. Did this once last year also..
How did you charge it in the house? I can't get it to stay on through my MAC.
@@462Jean I'm trying this right now. Try clicking onto the menu and charging it from there. When I'm in menu it stops turning off. I haven't tried charging it while it is off but in theory any device turned completely off still charges when it's plug in
I had a usb cord in the house. Used that to charge overnight. All was well after that
And yes, it will charge if turned off, as long as the charging cord is plugged in. I used a wall plug with usb cord attached
@@TrydeoVideo I keep getting the same problem man never fixed. I did format and then didn’t turn off actually and recorded fine but once car off and then on, this process is back and idk what to do now. Idk if the memory card then the brand or this camera doesn’t take 256GB? Lmk
I have another issue when my truck is parked I shut off the screen. So it doesn't kill my battery but it keeps turning back on.
Rexing v1p plus screen is too dark, and no brightness option, any advice please.
Mine is doing a thing where it says something along the lines of acc powering down, shutting off. It also started telling me I have parking files to check although I've formatted the SD and have nothing I'm aware of. V1P Max, does anyone know what might be causing these issues?

It only worked for 3 days , I wanna go out on a limb and say it's the card , but I'm thinking about capacitor to
I know you can turn off the screen while driving. But it turns it back on next time you start your car. Can I switch off the screen so it isn’t active til I want it on?
im trying to figure out the same thing
I'll try this on my toguard
My rear camera isn't being recognized. There is a red light on the rear camera that is on but it doesn't show up on the screen. I changed the resolution to work with both cameras and it tells me to connect the rear camera.
Did you fix it?
"As it turns out" mine works fine if I use a 12V battery with a USB outlet, because the power cord Rexing supplies doesn't provide enough current to keep the camera on.
That's interesting. Thanks for the note, Pat. I would contact Rexing and let them know. I've found their customer service to be really great.
The power cord isn't the issue. I don't use the supplied cord. Either way, it is still 5v. It seems to me that they use a shitty battery and a unit that uses slightly more voltage that the charger. I had to take it into the house to charge 2x in the last 4 years.
I have a V5C it’s doing exactly that. Shutting down every ten seconds and rebooting it’s been installed for six months. Did it intermittently a few times I just figured it had a temporary glitch. Now all of a sudden it’s useless. Can hardly get it to power on. It’s hardwired and when it will come on it just reboots after ten seconds. If I’m lucky enough to get the screen to come on it powers off in ten seconds. I hate this thing and Best Buy has been useless blaming the dash cam they want me to pay to have them look at it and I’m a total tech customer it’s been a nightmare I’m waiting for rexing to get back to me with their so called stellar customer service and the reformatting did nothing for me I’m thinking it’s that stupid second sensor / motion / parking sensor it used to light up all the time now it’s just dead. I hate this dash cam
Mine is not turning on , the power and record buttons turn red , but the screen is still off ?
Plug in your dashcam to your computer or an alternative power source then do this if it won't even turn in your battery is defective or dead
Oh wow I wasn’t aware you have to charge it
@@melissatan6444 they all have a battery right, some have an internal backup battery if you have an expensive model $200+ like your fire alarm or security alarm panel
This didnt help mine is still on off a lot
it's not a MicroSD formating issue. It's a power supply issue.
My problem was an SD card issue. I replaced the SD card and haven't had another problem since.
yep......bout ready to throw mine out the window....hahahaha !!!
What brand is the SD card?
The recommended one is Kingstone
Whats going on with that cable, looks horrible. You got the wrong cable or the wrong dash cam. That cable is not suppose to be loop that way. It suppose to come down straight and nit.
I thought it had something to do with the card being full. Thanks for the video.
