    Great review. Mine is supposed to be here today. A few things, I believe wish rexing would get up to speed and offer a glare filter. This shouldn't even need to be mentioned, but alas, I hear people complain about bad video quality, I don't care how hi def any camera is, if you don't clean your windshields, your going to get not so great videos. Good review.
    Note: Hard-wiring would be an option for those with older vehicles.
    Also, if you have a Chevy SUV like I do (2001 Chevy Blazer), you'll have multiple 12V outlets and continuous power even when the engine is turned off.

    Thank you for this super detailed review. I wish I had found it before I purchased this kit, as it would have made me more certain this one was the best one of the several that were available in this price range at Best Buy.
    I just installed this same kit, although I have not yet used it. I'll test it today as it got late yesterday as I finished. I'll share some of my thoughts that some might find helpful. Mine took longer to install as I hard wired it, and ran the cable for the rear camera under the headliner of my 2013 Dodge Ram. I didn't want any wires showing.
    One thing that might be helpful to point out is that it comes with two mounting plates with the adhesive 3M backing. That's helpful if you want to use this in two different cara. Makes it easy to swap from car to car. Obviously this would be using it as a front camera only setup. In my case I wont need the second mounting plate, but I'll keep it with the truck in case I take a rock in the windshield and need to replace it.
    Secondly, mine came with the cigarette lighter adapter wiring, as well as a hard wire kit, which is super helpful for me since I wanted to hard wire it.
    One thing to note for anyone planning on hard wiring it to full time 12 volts, when you turn off the unit, it powers down as expected, but you do see a dim LED strip visible inside on the rear camera, as well as the front camera buttons remain backlit in a dim red glow. Preferably I would like all these lights completely off so as to be less obvious at night, although I guess in the dark someone could assume the lights are part of an alarm system. My main concern is any additional battery drain since the system will be powered at all times. In theory, LED lights draw close to no power relative to the processes of the camera operation. I trust that the engineers designed this system with the voltage draw on a battery if hardwired. Time will tell I suppose. The quality and craftsmanship of the system appears to be very good. I guess I'll find out as I have a 2 thousand mile roadtrip coming up.

    I just installed this in my truck which has a canopy over the bed and a 90# dog blocking my rear view. This made parking a bit challenging. I did depart from the installation instructions and used the Rexing rectangular mount plate and grafted a Garmin 17mm GPS female socket to it. This allowed me to attach it to the many ball mounts and provided me the ability to pivot the front camera when someone is approaching the car from the sides...or when backing up (toggle to full rear display and view the display straight on). This is a good bang for the buck and is my first dash/rear view camera. I did not want to spend 2x for the fancier dual cameras with tons of bells and whistles. This should work fine.

      Hi Walter, would you have a link to the Garmin 17mm GPS female socket you could provide please? Amazon & Ebay have trouble identifying this item. Thank you !

      @@ctemttrainer4517 I tried several variations of mounts as well as windshield positions and ended with this:
      IG-PSTARA: Mini Adhesive Console Car Mount (search for that on Ebay)
      I purchased two of these. I stuck one on the windshield. The dbl joint elbow gave a little more articulatioin to the front camera.
      The second one I stuck to the back of the Rexing flat mount which slides into the Rexing front camera. This female fitting captured the other end of the elbow fitting coming from the windshield. (this double order leave you with a spare, leftover elbow)
      The sticky uses 3M adhesive which is pretty strong so be sure you're confident where you wish to stick it on the glass. This has held firmly even under hot sun the past 9 months.
      Because the Rexing plate is utilized, you can easily slide the front camera off/on when needed.
      Hope this helps. let me know if I can explain this clearer.

So here I am trying to search the tech manual for the parking mode. What I found is I have to purchase a motion sensor and purchase software that Amazon say is not available. Am I missing something?" Any suggestions?

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  2 года назад

      You need to have it hardwired so it has constant power. It then uses the G sensor to detect motion. Alternatively, you can use a dashcam battery and just constantly record and have it loop and erase when it fills up.

    • @krysd8594
      @krysd8594 4 года назад

      If you have the hardwire kit it will. Without the hardwire kit it doesn't have enough power to actually record. The supercapaciter discharges within a few seconds, that's why it has a wider operating range than lithium batteries. If you do get/use the hardwire kit it's recommended that you change the g sensor to medium or high as when it's on low it when turn on more than you'd probably want/need.

    I purchased this exact model and will be returning it. The app that comes with it, “Rexing Connect”, is total trash. I cannot connect it to the camera. It connected ONCE, the first time I tried. Afterwards it stopped connecting. And notice his review doesn’t show how to playback on the unit itself. That’s important if you need to show the police a video on the spot. The instructions tell you it plays back video on the camera screen, but there is no playback option on the menu. So in an emergency, you can’t playback on the phone (the app is crap) and you can’t playback on the camera itself. If you don’t believe me, read the reviews on the Rexing Connect app. I wish I did that. I’m deleting the app, and returning the dashcam.

      Roddy Da No, each clip is only 3 min so that way you don’t have to scrub through hours of footage looking through footage. It’ll record the 3min clip and the record another after that and then another after that and so on and so on. The number of 3 min clips depends how large your sad card is. On average let’s say about 6-8 hours of footage.

    In modern vehicles, I don’t understand why this isn’t a feature built into it.
    My ATS has a rear camera and the V has a front.
    The Explorer sport has a front and rear camera built in, but no way to record.
    I don’t think resolution is all that important for documenting an incident, as long as the camera has decent dynamic range to cover different lighting conditions.
    The only time I can think of that resolution is important is to capture a license plate number of an idiot that you want to report.

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  5 лет назад +1

      I know. The equipment is already there so I’ve always wondered why they aren’t coming standard with cars. I think it must be some kind of privacy thing. GM have their performance data recorder even.

    • @michaladambloch4260

      It's probably of law restrictions, for example it's still illegal in some of the European Union countries to even use a dash cam, and some of the countries forbid to use the recordings as evidence. And some people obviously just don't want them. So probably the market with the build in dashcams would be quite limited.

    Never buy a dash cam without a capacitor, for all the reasons you just named. I've had two without a capacitor and their batteries became too weak to safely close the video files after the ignition is turned off within 6 to 8 months. Like all lithium batteries they slowly lose capacity, and due to their already very tiny size (usually something like 400mah) they just don't have enough power to shut everything down safely after 6 to 8 months of use.

    • @JustWasted3HoursHere
      @JustWasted3HoursHere 4 года назад

      Also, if you can turn off GPS and you are not running a commercial fleet, do so, because it's possible that in an accident your speed could be used against you in court (unless you ALWAYS drive at or under the speed limit...)
