Caught ya Carl. At about 6:30 when you show us the main riff. When you play it fast from the E string 3rd fret power chord you take your hand off the strings a play an open E. When your showing us it slowly ure sliding down to an E power chord.....but all in all your a BLOODY BRILLIANT teacher.....ps I see loads of people either agree with this r don't 😂
After not playing for a long while, it's nice to see a familiar face (Carl) as I have finally been inspired enough by these amazing guys AGAIN to pick up my axe. What a jam of a song, thank you for being the first instructor to get the verse right with the "slide down" riff (11:26, etc), so critical and the baddest ass part of the whole song. I have noticed many younger players miss this part in their covers, it made perfect sense to me the first time I heard it, a very "Exodusy" Hammet chord lick- I have to think back to the songs that feature this but the 1/2 step slide down sounds so awesome in the right context. I wonder if I am not alone in appreciating this part of the song over the rest. Thank you , Carl, for what you do, we OG 80's players notice the small stuff as you do .
Carl, your tutorials are incredibly helpful. I truly appreciate you sharing your expertise. I have learned so much from your videos. Best channel on RUclips.
Hi Carl , you really nailed it ! Great thx . Like to know what type of picks& thickness you use for this percussive attack . Thx and keep showing new lessons 365 !!
I am just starting out playing the guitar this is my 3rd day with my new amplifier and old electric guitar. I am very determined to do this. However I appreciate your time and lessons so much but being a huge metallica fan i want to play metallica but when I watched your atlas rise which is something I want to play so badly, but I lost on what you are doing or strings being held down or what strings to strum etc. My Jaw is on the floor with shock lol.. is this normal?? I am 45 yo but so determined to get this. Anyone have any advice or suggestions for me as what to try first or lesson ideas? Thank you very much for any help Anyone may have!!
Learning your strings is a good place to start. Standard tuning from the top string to the lowest string is E A D G B E. Carl will tell you which frets to press down. If he tells you third fret of the D and G strings press the third fret down on both strings and pick both strings at once. My advice is go super slow to start. Speed will come. Take your time, practice a lot, and don't get frustrated. And most important have fun
all i wanted to learn is the riff at 26:30
u can just play that on repeat and it sounds awesome
Oh yeah this riff so damn great! Luckily for you its much easier to play than it sounds;)
@@ich_mag_brotschmidt7844 fail to troll ;)
with this pace you'll have the whole album covered before it comes out
