Because they read a script about things that happen and tend to be delusional about their role in that and their own importance. They're not inventing news, they just repeat stories that have happened. There is a skill, it's called acting.
She's not as articulate as one might expect from an experienced juorno. The 'you know's suggest she uses an autocue usually or has an earpiece feed with her talking points & responses. Disappointing. Not a great advert for 'The News Agents'. Not sure what the viewing figures are for that show, but I shan't be one of them
