+Porco-Dio FIlm What kills me is the commentary for that episode. If i recall correctly they dredged that tooth prop out of some ancient closet somewhere and it was infested with spiders. Bob only found out after he put it on.
Tristan Caver Ah man! I don't remember hearing that particular tidbit, I have the whole series on dvd so I'll have to go back through and listen to the commentary again.
there are so many costumes on this show i would love to rock for halloween (mustmayostardayonaise lincoln is my fav) but fear that NO ONE would get them keeps me from doing it
@@v-town1980it did? That’s never how I took this sketch lmao I thought it was making fun of white people, who want to see a black art form but with all the black parts removed lmao
This is like a diamond like fractal of comedy, there's so much golden stuff going on that you probably can't even see it all at the first time... at least for me, the more times i watch this the more i like it.. I wish they had showed this as a 8 minute grande finale musical
I didn't catch it the first time but the 2nd bit with the cockney guy talking about a drive-by then they turn the umbrellas sideways, lower them and spin them like tires, brilliant!!
lmao it was so fucking wild that they somehow took this sketch at face value, like they were actually pitching a "real" musical and not skewering cultural appropriation and whitewashing with laser-guided precision.
1:04 Leave it to Odenkirk to bring the sketch home as the Old Gold Tooth. He just has that power; him as "The Hated Milk Machine" had the same energy. Bob's a closer!
I introduced my 11 year old brother to Mr. Show with this sketch back in 2003. To this day, I'll crack him up by randomly singing: "Well I'ma old gold tooth, and I'll tell ya the truth..."
@HomunConlus Mr. Show S2E2 aired for the first time on the 22nd of November 1996. MadTV's gangsta shop quartet aired for the first time on the 17th of May 1997. If anything, MadTV jacked their idea from Mr. Show.
The "tophat" singers kind of reminds me of The Hitcher from Britain's The Mighty Boosh! The Hitcher is a cockney rapper! Cockney is the extreme working class British accent featured in classics like Mary Poppins chimney sweeps!
This show had one of the most sophisticated comedic approaches to this country's racial deal that I've ever seen on American TV, on the mark as well as funny. If only they were on the air now. I can't imagine the sort of sketches they'd've written, except that they'd be awesome. And Jerry Minor would have a higher-profile job. :/
Her name is Mary-Lynn Rajskub. She's on the show "24" on Fox. Don't you know anything about Mr Show!??? That's when Lincoln said, "Don't dis muh homies!" Check that one out. Called Van Hammersly.
Tornado1994: Rap the Musical was part of episode 202 and aired November 22nd, '96. MADtv's Gangsta Shop Quartet was in episode 221, airing May 17th, '97. If anything, MADtv made a shittier version of this (still quite funny) substandard Mr. Show sketch.
Intersting to see Lin Manuel Miranda's early work
Just saw the Washington heights trailer and it’s even worse
Equally as historical !😁

Yes I actually waited until 3am to watch it the night it got put up!
Still amazing, still Mr. Show.
there are so many costumes on this show i would love to rock for halloween (mustmayostardayonaise lincoln is my fav) but fear that NO ONE would get them keeps me from doing it
"I live in the mouth of a homie...let's take it south!" then starts tapdancing. Incredible!
I was CRYING laughing at that part the 1st time I saw it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 So freaking HILARIOUS!!
@@AmberAmber I spluttered water out of my mouth and then had to get the friggin' inhaler 😂
@@SDRockman You laugh like me (in a way which challenges death itself & says, Meh - too funny!)!! 🤣🤣🦄
I think the blessing and the curse of Mr. Show is that the funniest bits barely have time to shine due to the non-stop pacing of the show.
According to Bob, that tooth was from outside a dentist's office, and was filled with spiders. The sacrifices of art!
It was full of spiders or they filled it with spiders? Because if it's the latter, why would they do that?
I'd just like everyone to know that an article by Vulture that ranked all of the sketches from Mr. Show inexplicably ranked this masterpiece dead last
I came from that article, I was surprised.
They probably were upset it insulted real rap.😂
@@v-town1980it did? That’s never how I took this sketch lmao I thought it was making fun of white people, who want to see a black art form but with all the black parts removed lmao
Bob as a tap dancing gold tooth is possibly the single funniest thing ive seen in my life.
You gotta love the use of umbrellas to simulate the car for the drive-by
I feel like I've seen that somewhere before, it was probably a reference but yea it's dope
Tom Kenny makes me laugh so hard (announcer and one of the performers). Thank you for this!
Just gimme that STUPID PHAT RHYME
Slightly less absurd than a hip-hop musical about Alexander Hamilton. Mr Show makes a lot more sense to me now that we're fucking living in it.
Open up your heart and let the rap shine in!
Um, no.
um,
Odenkirk is beyond words in this..
"Rap:The Musical the fun of rap, withuot all that rap."
I love how all of the taglines just pile onto each other into a mess at the end
After I first saw this sketch, I had David's "give me the big booming bass" song as my voicemail message for a couple months. My friends hated it.
You are my ideal partner
Legend
Wish I’d thought of that. Well done!
Mr Show is easily one the best sketch comedy shows out

"describe a crime"

Wow. Mr. Show totally predicted Hamilton 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'll describe a crime: Vulture ranked every Mr. Show sketch and called this the worst.
they're called vulture. like, doesn't THAT say it all?

Here from Game Grumps in 2022. I actually never knew this was a thing
Wait, which episode did they mention this in?
What's Game Grumps?
Thanks Danny for the laughs
Some rich weirdo please commission this to be an actual production
Lol. If rap were really like this, I'd listen to it.😂
I still consider this Mary Lynn's finest work =)
I just saw this last night and kept thinking about Bob's part today at work and giggling to myself.
This show was so damn hilarious...
Mr show was so brilliant they were parodying Hamilton in the 90s
Odenkirk's gold tooth puts me in tears every damn time I see it.
lol someone described Hamilton as Mr. Show's 'Rap the Musical' and i must say it's pretty accurate
The tapping number. Epic! oncore, oncore.
Bob's tooth is hilarious.
Nixer Doyle So are his lil dancing shoes and socks!!! 🧦 🧦
Gouge away, you can stay all day, if you want to
I’d definitely go to see this production on Broadway!!! 🎭 🦷
