Many people look at this closing like “it’s just a store”. But it’s so much more than that. Woodfield Sears is the store where my grandfather would take me as a kid when I would stay with him. It’s the place when my dad bought me my first stereo. The memories connected to this place for me are endless. Eddie will burn in the lowest level of hell for this.
I live in the Detroit, Michigan area. I know of two Sear's stores that have businesses in the Sear's buildings. They are: #1 . Sear's located in the Macomb Mall located on Gratiot and Masonic in Roseville, Michigan is a store named The Home Store in one half of the Sear's building. #2 . A store named Hobby Lobby craft store is in the other half of the Sear's building. The other, Sear's building is in the Oakland Mall located on 14 Mile Road and John R in Troy, Michigan. The name of the store is called : 1.The Home Store is in one half of the Sear's building. 2.A store named 3 Wheel Rentals is in the other half of the Sear's building. Sear's has already closed the last Michigan store permanently a while back. The last Sear's store was located on West Warren and Wayne Roads in Westland, Michigan.

The Sears at East Towne Mall in Madison closed down a few years ago, but I don't know when exactly. The other Sears in Madison, WI at West Towne closed in 2018 and is now a Dave and Buster's. It's sad that so many of these stores are closing for good.

Thanks for the video! Worked for Sears for 4.5 good years, then the 7.5 miserable "Eddie" years. The only company to go down in flames faster was Big R/Stock and Field (worked there also). Sure miss my Sears Hardware store, and my co-workers. Man, we had some great times!
From the smell of fresh roasted peanuts to the taste of a Searsburger yes there was such a thing.back when they had restaurants.to the long and lasting relationship that Whirlpool and Kenmore before it was foolishly terminated by Eddie himself.this particular Sears in my heart is full of lasting memories that I will never soon forget.Sears the once epicenter of just about everything under the sun.with aisles of smiles as I could recall.if I ever meet Eddie himself I will personally hold him responsible for taking part of my childhood.thank you to the founders.your legacy is intact.and Eddie you are nothing to me except a “ hedgehog “.people are everything.learn to respect them and their work.

Thanks for playing the SEARS Commercial I remember most growing up in Ontario, Canada where we also had SEARS until the end of 2017...Most of the ones played were for the US stores. The one remembered was the "At Sears You Get Moneys Worth...Your Moneys Worth and More." Incidentally...other than a Moffatt Range, Westinghouse Refrigerator and MAYTAG Dishwasher in the end...My Late Parents always had "Kenmore" Major Appliances and CRAFTSMAN Power Tools.👍
It's less than 50 stores left. Whatever the exact number of stores left, is BOTH less than 50, and that remaining number includes both Sears and Kmart. That's how irrelevant Sears and Kmart have become, though an not surprised how much that company has majorly declined. To the point many vendors, no longer will sell items to Transformco.
Funny thing as soon as i walked in the door a saw a kid with a camera with his mom. I wonder what channel that is. It wasnt lost departments because he's older. Interesting. I almost waved at his camera. 😂
That's a massive Sears. I think I recall that Woodfield was the largest suburban Sears store at least in the midwest an was like 400,000 sf? Had to be hard to keep full anyway. I think the Calumet City store was like 350,000 sf but all the other suburban stores were more like 150-200,000 sf stores. No way that store was close to profitable for a long time.
Im sure i didnt turn a profit for a long time. I think they held on to this just for the land which is more valuable than the building by a very long shot. I bet the land is worth 10s of millions.

I worked PT at this Sears (80's in finance) and in Dayton, OH (70's stock clerk) when I was going to school and after starting my first real job. What memories. It was such an institution, they were everywhere back then.
Sad to see this happening. At this point we know the end is here for this once shining company. I would recommend at this point if you still have a Sears store near by, go visit it before it’s to late.
I used work at the Eastland Mall in Harper Woods, Michigan. I worked at the Hudson Department Store from 1975 until 1980 and when Marshall Fields of Chicago bought Hudson's 1980. The Marshall Fields was bought out by Macy's. The J.C.Penney Store was located in the Eastland Mall. When, J.C.Penney closed the Eastland Mall permanently, then Sears took the J.C.Penney Store over. Then, Sears closed the store permanently. There was also a Target Store located in Eastland Mall and Target also closed the store permanently. The Eastland Mall is a Dead Mall. The City of Harper Woods bought the Eastland Mall. The City of Harper Woods wants to put 3 warehouses after they demolish the Eastland Mall. It will be in 2022 when they plan to demolish the mall.
We've lost so much in-terms long-term brick & mortar stores in the U.S. Sears, Kmart, Radio Shack, & Toys-R-Us, just to name a few. JCPenney's isn't far behind. Thanks in-part bad leadership, hedge fund investors, & online shopping. What's left.... crap from China, with no real support. So very sad. :(
Right before this video started playing, I got a video ad of JCPenney. I am a bit surprised while I don't have one near me anymore. I noticed my old JCPenney is going to get split into few businesses. Now about the Sears store, I am not shocked this is happening. This is definitely a big change for Illinois.
I live in el paso tx and we still have ours but what I find astonishing is there is also one across the border of El Paso in ciudad juarez mexico, it's really nice and still gets alot of business. If I had to say I think the mexican sears had diffrent people running them.

All that empty floor space makes it look like a store near the end of its liquidation sale rather than at the beginning.
