- Woodfield Mall is a shopping mall located in the northwest Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois, United States, at the intersection of Golf Road and Interstate 290. I was a mall-rat at this mall. I enjoyed being there so much that eventually I worked for the mall security! I learned so many cool/interesting things while working there. The roof is a lot higher than you think!
awesome, thanks for sharing your memories
I know that mall, I’d go there every Saturday.
Nice, I loved going there as a kid.
I still love going there, it's awesome
That’s good the mall is still thriving and not dead
One of my favorite malls! And thriving!
When ever I get back to Chicago, I goto Busse Woods for some trail walking and to Woodfield Mall.
Wonderful job. I've always found this particular mall and it's surroundings very beautiful. I hope it remains popular for many years.
I hope so too
Good video of the history of Woodfield. I have been going to Woodfield since it opened in 1971, when my family moved to Arlignton Heights that same year. I was only 6, but I thought the place was magical for its size, pieces of art inside, fountains, decorations at Christmas, and toy stores like Kay Bee and FAO Schwarz right next to Penney's. I saw many movies in the 70s at Woodfield, and also went to the ice skating ring. I wish he mentioned John's Garage pizza parlor near the Lord and Taylor entrace. That was a great place. I loved the book stores: Krocks & Bretanos and Walden books. I also liked Musicland record store. My dad bought a lot of classical records there. Scandinavian Design was an interesting store, I also remember my parents liked to look in. As of 2023, I believe the only store that is still original to the year it opened is JC Penney. I still like going to Wooddield, but its also sad to walk through and not help but notice 99% of what was once there has vanished.
thank you for sharing your memories of this place.
Yes! Way back in 1973 was my first time, 💕when it was all first done in oranges and browns...so 70's ish--and before remodels galore. Interesting that Vincent PRICE was the ribbon cutter. Celebrities were big at mall openings I guess (we had Liberace at one of ours in 1982)
They took out the fountains and aquarium in center court!?!? Noooooooooo I loved that area!
Is John’s garage restaurant still there?
I love this videos really nice!!! I'm from Chicago and live in Elgin, Illinois and would frequently between Woodfield Mall SpringHill Mall in West Dundee, Illinois. But I and my husband and my now 31 year old twin sons moved to Rockford, Illinois 16 years ago and now we go to Cherryvale Mall in Rockford. I remember when I first visited Woodfield Mall in the mid 70s with my step dad's in-laws and I thought Woodfield Mall was fabulous, cool and awesome back then!!! 🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️ And I remember about the car that had crashed into the mall because my twin son is in the us army and I was visiting him in Columbus/Fort Benning, Georgia because I needed to be there a week before my first ever grandson was born and I was waiting for the Greyhound Bus station to call me about my miss luggage bag that was missed tagged by them and went to Columbus, Ohio instead of Columbus, Georgia well to make a long story short I was watching the live stream of the Chicago Cubs game on Facebook then I seen a notification from CBS 2 news come through in my Facebook feed and I right away watched about it online that day.
awesome, thanks for sharing those memories
I have been there 1 or 2 times. I am from lake county, we had Lakehurst, Hawthorn, and the oldest and small Belvedere Mall We still have Gurnee Mills, but I rarely go there .
The should have at least kept the aquarium I remember going through the tunnel when I was little 😌
Fact Sears was the last one in state of Illinois Closed permanently
Great documentary on Woodfield! Glad you featured the T-mobile commercial. I was living in the area when that was filmed and did a vlog for the 10 year anniversary. I was so sad when they lost the Disney Store.
thank you for watching and if you get a chance I did a video about Disney Store.
