They wanted me to put the Caravan exactly at the same spot at Spaceland Dallas when I completed my ferry flight from your place on November 1st, 2021 😅
Its a wild deal. Ive done it with a taylorcraft on a strong ctosswind at a similar airport east of Dallas. Had an oh shit moment when the plane bucked towards the grass but i made it
Sounds like you had a few holes in the Swiss Cheese I am glad that they didn't line up. You always had the out of going IFR. Scud running without a out is suicide. I would have had flight following, if possible at that altitude. That way a pop up is not a big deal since they already know who you are. I guess that the high altitude gas savings with the turbine wasn't enough to cancel out the headwinds.
Foreflight does NOT give you real time weather radar. ADSB has a delay that has killed many pilots. You also admitted your artificial horizon doesn't really work, but you took off knowing you might be IFR and went IFR. You also need a current NAV database in the plane's GPS (not the iPad) to be legal. I've never seen such gross incompetence. Perfect demonstration of how experienced pilots normalize deviant behavior because they've gotten away with it in the past and lived, until they finally don't get away with it....I'm speechless.
I know adsb has a delay I use it every day. I wasn't worried about the horizon, I can deal with it. You don't need a current database to shit non gps approaches, so still leagel. Wasn't worried about this trip at all.
@@KerryDMcCauley Partly true. You can still use your outdated GPS for situational awareness, but you can't use it for navigation if ATC gives you a waypoint. You would have to say "unable" and request a HDG or VOR radial. While Pilot Debrief channels help make viewers safer pilots, yours does the exact opposite and may lead to a scud running death in the future. But at least you made a dollar off a video.
I’m not going to speak to your experience cuz it’s irrelevant. I lost track of how many reasons you gave to not fly and exhibited text book hazardous attitudes. Knowing your instruments were shit and not having an updated database, you weren’t even legal to fly IFR.
Keep the great videos coming. Good to have the ability to get a pop up clearance in your back pocket in situations like that.
Around the 15-minute mark, when you popped up outta the clouds for a second boy, that was a beautiful picture. Beautiful blue sky.
It was cool.
Not very many yootoobers in the aviation world that extol the virtues of experience and wisdom. Former bold, but older pilot here.

hey buddy, reminds me of the last time we scud runned all the way to Florida from Minnesota. Intense flying, but makes you feel like a pilot!
that was a fun ride, thanks for taking us all along 🙂
pro tip: no need to stand in the rain for your intro my man. especially with the hanger 50 ft behind you
Boy aint go sense enough to come in out of the rain!
Kerry just wanted a free shower...
@@jackoniel8565 I'm cheap that way!
Great vid. Now we have to sadly wait for the bird to come back with the spring migration
Holy crap! There was no room to mess around on that landing, it was about as wide as my driveway.( 1 car)
You want to keep right down the middle on that runway!

@@jeremiahstarke4516 Gotta be on your A game in strong crosswinds.
@@KerryDMcCauley Nice landing on Sidewalk 18. 😛😁
Thanks for the videos! Wish you would have had cameras like this years ago! Would have been cool to watch. Your books are good though!
Oh to have had these cameras back in the day! Glad you like the books!
Hitched a nice ride...thanks man!
great to see more videos from you Kerry
More to come now that skydiving season is over. Of course it is deer hunting season now.
Rule number four of scud running is don’t run into the ground while avoiding the clouds. Rule number five is don’t run into a tower. Sure looks dicey.
Visibility is key. Check out my video on scud running.ruclips.net/video/FCuNp-0Q4Rw/видео.html
Oh Dear, I hope my PPL students don't see this video and get ideas...
Is it as an example of what not to do!
Precisely what I mean :)
Great vids keep it up
Thanks for watching. More to come!
6:04 Does the prop appear to be turning counter clockwise when viewed from the cockpit?
That Caravan has the 900hp Garrett engine that turns that way.
Kerry... you do things ass backwards, or totally fucking wrong. That's why I admire the hell out of you!! 😅😂
This is great stuff!!
I watch videos of $100000 planes that have 3 axis auto plots all the time. What's up with an expensive Caravan w/o one?
Has one, just inop.

Getting the popup wasn't a big deal. The headwinds vs. Fuel savings were close to a wash. I chose speed because I was in a hurry.
I can't tell if you're flying or driving. It kinda looks like you're driving out of the side window for most of the video.
At least I didn't have to stop for stop signs.
@@KerryDMcCauley maybe you did, it's a grey area.
Looks like Whiteright.
Jump pilots get all the 🐱

Nice vid. Gethereitis is ok if you understand it, and how to manage it, you sir are on the money.
Putting a Garrett on the Caravan is a game changer, but you are correct, they are not as easy to operate as the Prat.
