      Not at all. For example, the University of Chicago created an academic charter called the "Chicago Statement" to focus on academics and solidify freedom of speech, not activism. UofC *eliminated* their football team (which was a good team) in order to prioritize academics as the football program was causing the school to move towards a sports franchise, like many public schools. Purdue University, as another example, hasn't raised tuition in 10+ years (they make Chinese students offset costs thru remote degree programs such as Purdue Global). Look up "Heterodox Academy" setup by Jon Haidt (he wrote "Coddling of the American Mind"). It has a list of Universities that aren't propogandists like the Ivy's or private liberal arts schools. - schools you should WANT to go to.

      And it isn't as though Engineering is harmless. It used to be the sciences were under suspicion, because they build, say, atomic bombs, and the people there seemed willfully blind to moral questions. But now the engineers continue to build Frankensteins, and the humanities departments' role as a moderation influence is to set the intellectual stage for the end of civilization. I think they call this kind of thing the Singularity. The real one, not the fake one where we all live happily for ever in a video game.

The major Universities forced their students to take COVID vaccines which is a violation not only of their human rights, but of everything we know about testing products, and not vaccinating into pandemics etc... And this was because they were beholding to their funders, took more money from corporations, than in tuition.

    Before American universities can be taken down, the cultural obsession with college must be stopped. Kids are being conditioned to just mindlessly go to college and pursue a degree without even considering a cost/benefit analysis or considering alternatives. As long as it’s perceived as the cool, trendy thing that everyone is doing and THE path to success, then nothing will change.

    *Among many other issues, the excerpt below is not what is being said in this video...*
    *_"The college curriculum devoted to mathematics, the classics, languages, grammar, history, and rhetoric was transmuted into the baser metals of vocational education, citizenship, health science, homemaking, commercial English, secretarial skills, and accounting-all valued because of their practical utility. "Culture" was to become more and more of an afterthought until, in its original, liberal, and liberating meaning, it occupied no place in the minds of American educators. It is important to observe that not only did the content of education change at this time but, at least of equal and perhaps of greater importance, so did its tenor: rapidly disappearing was the sense of reverence that characterized the teaching and the learning of the older curriculum. This reverence was not transferred to commercial subjects; instead it evaporated. The shift away from a higher learning devoted to culture was in fact, as we can now see clearly in looking back, a shift away from contact with values capable of eliciting reverence. The values of careerism and acquisition of money took their place, but reverence was a thing past"_*

    Lex, I hope you read this. When I see you, I see a little of myself. I'm 52 and I believe much of what you did until I was approximately 45. My world view couldn't make sense of what I was experiencing. I began a process of questioning all my core beliefs and I found that they were mostly all wrong. This was precipitated by my having children and thinking of their future. I'm not saying you need to follow this path. It was mine. Regardless, you are stuck in a recursive loop. You want to believe that all you core tenants about your life and your place in it are true, but when a viable source questions them, you essentially waffle. Be open to doubt and true self-introspection. It will change your life. Peace.

    Alex is a typical technical nerd. Even 30 years ago, liberal art departments (philosophy, English, etc.) at technical schools had a lot of their own drama going on that real technical people didn't know about and didn't want to hear about (rightfully so). In their minds, it's still like that everywhere. It is not. It's not a "playground for kids" anymore, those who actually want to play can't do it without a "Karen mom" shouting at them. Playgrounds are cool, but Karens must be removed by cutting funding.

    My interaction with university standards and staff, maybe like Lex', was mostly limited to the required curriculum and the teachers. I saw no overarching aim for egalitarianism and world domination that Michael Malice says rules. The required curriculum seemed to only reflect the old, unproven theory that broad education fits a person for life best, and the teachers seemed a mix of enthusiasts pursuing and promoting their enthusiams, and others simply doing something to get paid. Later in life I used virtually nothing I 'learned' in university. I'd be happy to see universities done away with and replaced by trade schools and otherwise by research centers to which young people uninterested in trades could have a try at.

    MIT is an engineering focussed place so maybe they have a strong productive sense still, but that isnt Universities in majority. As for advances taking place in universities, yes overfunding them with hundreds of billions of free dollars and giving them a million tax benefits private companies do not have should occassionally output something, but the computer, the TV, The LED were not invented in universities.

    • @troll_kin9456
      @troll_kin9456 4 месяца назад +1

      That depends on what they want. If they want a loan to fight a war, they would go to American banks or investors. If they want to extradite one of their citizens accused of a crime, they would go to the judge handling the case, if they want to make some kind of trade deal, they would go to the big companies that make the goods, or maybe an industrial group. If they want to build an embassy or a military base, they would go on the market to purchase the land, and maybe make their case to some community groups as well since they'll ultimately need local support for utility service, food, fuel, materials, goods and services.

    Lex here believes his experience as a top 5% student is the vast majority experience. In reality the administrative class within these universities and colleges are simultaneously providing what MM is talking about. A highly nonfunctional and openly antagonistic to higher level learning through subsistence education. Designed to provide a credentialed class that will permeate society as advocates and policemen for group think. The end result out current MSM and corporate bboards and admin doing everything within it's power to strengthen a single narrative that is both provably false and in direct competition with it's own self interest and mission.
