Oh man. This is humbling. I was so excited to see a tutorial for my favorite song (Now Fly Away) only to see I definitely am nowhere near the level required to be able to play it
I tried to play guitar a few years ago but never solved the mystery of the strings, it´s great to see a master at work. Now I can make some noice on the drums in some sort of rythm.
Hey Mike! Thanks so much for this video, I've been wanting to learn both Magnetic Farmer/Gridlines and No Fly Away for years! I keep coming back to your videos from live at Progfest Brisbane from 2010 for those songs. At 19:40, you could probably use your middle finger for the base note and then use pinky -> ring -> index finger for the high melody. Also, we met once in Sweden after your show together with The Beards. Keep on making awsome music and being a really cool dude! P.S. I've a friend who's really sad that your cover of Chandelier by Sia is no longer available on RUclips. Any chance to bring that back?
As a fellow lefty guitarist, this is gonna be a great help not only in improving my skill but also developing an idea of how songs should flow, which I've always had a weird connection to. Thanks bunches for putting the effort in to put this out there. I'm excited to see more =)
Thanks Mike, this is amazing. I cannot wait for Superior & Dragon's Tooth. I think I've figured out the basics by ear, but would love to see you explain them. Keep up the excellent work!
@@Toehider I'll have to revisit your back catalogue and have a close listen. Off the top of my head maybe Moon Was A Kite? That has a bit going on in the bass
Wish I could use this video but I always was hopeless trying to learn an instrument. Sadly I can't say I would be much better at emulating Andrew's work either! Thanks for posting this for everyone else though, you rock!
Never touched a guitar in my life... but I'm watching this in awe anyway! Thank you for sharing, mate! Big hugs from Italy, and as always: #onlytoehider
Fantastic. I considering adding 6 Years Ago to the doc but maybe I shouldn't as it not a Toehider song. If you are open to show us some Template tunes as well that would be swell, but that is your choice. Going to try my hands on these songs right now.
So there was this one time last year I had to give a speech but I didn't know what to talk about so I just translated the lyrics of "GOOD" (song not the whole album) in Finnish and wrote the whole thing around it while quoting the original lyrics throughout the speech. I also figured I should commit to the source material, so I ended up yelling all the stuff at my audience... You know, like, "At least you'll die with dignity!". Apparently people really liked it. So like, I wasn't playing Toehider in the traditional sence but, yeah... Thanks Metal Mills! 😁 And yes I had proper citations, no plagiarism here.
Actually I think it's quite convenient for regular right-handed folk to learn guitar through a video from a guy who plays his guitar backwards, since they can copy exactly whatever they see on the screen. Trouble is, I'm a lefty too.
No way we're getting all this information by the guy himself! Really excited to see which songs will be included.
Thanks a lot Mike!
Cheers mate!

One day I'll upload my cover of "the ultimate exalter"
Love your work Micheal
Awesome mate, would love to hear it!
That's great, I'll have to check it out in depth to compare to what I guessed by ear, and learn the ones I don't know yet! Thanks Mike !!
Cheers mate ! ❤

Love your work, Metal Mills. Do you plan on doing a bass version of this?
Great idea! Any songs in particular?

Love the Skyrim map on your wall ;) BUT your music and voice are more awesome than a video game !
Haha I dunno about that but thanks anyway! ❤
This is a great way for me to set practice goals and play things I enjoy (albeit not well). Thanks for the time and effort!
Awesome Michael! I'll aim to another one of these next week
Thank you for doing all this, Mike! :) You are amazing!

Ah yeah cool, I could do that one 🤘
Hey mike, i have been listening to your music for a long time and I'm just asking if you will cover meet the sloth or you and i both lose (but 5 wins)
Also if you remember signing one album of good. Odds that was me was likely

I've always thought the same, I think it just depends on what someone is used to
@@Toehider By the way I noticed [funnythings] was missing from the list, so I added that. Not the easiest of songs to learn or teach I bet.
Hey, You look like the guy from The Banana Spliffs. Good Times!!
Hahahah you must have me confused with someone else. That guy had heaps more hair!!!
@@Toehider if i could only remember the name of your other band?, long long time ago.......
Pppftt that’s sooo fake… look you can see the strings.
