Very happy to come across your series on the Trip+ . I haven't got enough use out of mine yet as I'd always get frustrated with random results from playing around or the fragments I'd pick up from videos here and there , but seeing an entire structured series on it is going to be worlds of help. Very nice channel.
That was a great tip at the end there! It never occurred to me you'd get a stereo sound going from the headphone jack direct into the interface. I'm embarrassed to say that only very recently did it occur to me that it's very simple to record 3 tracks out of the Trio. Although, as a general rule, the key thing I want out of the Trio is the drums, I'm generally going to add bass and the guitars, such that the original guitars form the Trio are barely audible in the final mix. That's ok, the most important role for the Trio is to act as a "guide track", i.e. it's your placeholder for the whole song. Once that's in place, you can record as many tracks as you want over it, and you can even get your musician friends involved with ease, even if they live in other cities, because you can give them a mixdown of your guidetrack as an MP3, and they can give you back their wave files to import back into your project. Good video!
After transferring the Trio .dat files to DAW and editing them, are you going to show us how to transfer the edited files BACK to the Trio? I ask because I just got the Trio and set up the songs Cocaine and Who Do You Love? on the Trio, had a blast jamming with them but I wanted to strum opening chords on my guitar first and then press the Band button on the Trio to start its recorded parts but there is a slight delay after pressing the button before the drums actually kick in, throwing the intro timing off. I would like to delete that tiny hole on the beginning of the opening track on the Trio using the DAW and then transfer it back to the Trio so that hitting the Band button synchs perfectly with my strummed guitar. I'm finding it hard to believe that the Trio will be able to read that edited file.
I don't have a trio+, yet, but the videos have me very interested in one. I have a question about your comment of recording the drums in stereo... Are you exploiting a... feature?... of the Trio+ by using the mixer out and the headphones out? Or, in other words how is what is sent out the two outputs different from just recording the drums from the mixer output only, then doubling the track in the DAW? Does the combo of the mixer out & headphones out create a stereo field effect of some sort? Thank you in advance, from a fellow Scott
Hello, and thanks a lot again for your great videos! Your channel is always my starting point whenever I have a question regarding pedals. :-) I have one more question that came up after watching the videos. If I want to record a solo after recording the drums, bass and loops from the Trio Plus into my PC, can I use my pedalboard with an audio Interface as well? Oder do I need a mixer for that? (Or something else?) I found the Yamaha AG03, would the pedals work with that? I'm quite new to recording; until now I used my Zoom Q4N to record my tracks and Audacity for a bit of editing. However I was thinking about getting a bit more professional sounding and having more control over the individual tracks after recording. Would it work with the Yamaha AG03? Or is there another way (that isn't too expensive) to use my pedals with the PC? Am I overthinking and should I just use virtual effects instead of my beloved pedals 😅?
Hi. Thanks for watching. It's hard to say as everyone approaches this in their own way. Personally, I would say whatever you're feeling more comfortable with is the right solution. If you do use your pedalboard and record straight into your DAW, you will probably need some sort of amp simulation plug-in to bring out the right tone.
@@ThePedalGuy Thank you for your answer.:-) After a little more research, I am now thinking about using a microphone (maybe a Shure SM57) in front of my amp to record my solos with my pedal sound through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 into my PC. Maybe I could do this with my loops a well, so both tracks would have my amp sound. And for the drum and bass tracks, I would record them directly from the Trio Plus through the Focusrite into the PC, like in your videos. (Until now I use a two amp setup for the guitar and Trio Plus) I don't know if my thoughts for recording make sense, haven't done that before.😄 Maybe I will experiment a bit. And thank you again for your awesome channel! :-)
Hi, first thanks much for your tuts, very helpful. I would like to feed or input a guitar track in my daw to the Trio+ so it can create a bass n drum section for me. Is there a way that I can accomplish this?
I have tried everything , but the signal from the U-Phoria interface is not accepted in the Trio´s guitar input. or any other socket for that matter. got to be some gadget that turns the out of interface back to a guitar input signal. Anyone have any clues.
I've been researching different types of loopers and I've pretty much settled on the Trio Plus, but I still have one unanswered question in mind. Is it possible to save a guitar only file when I'm backing up my Trio Plus loop files to a computer? I guess I should mention that I don't have a DAW yet, but from everything I've seen so far it doesn't seem like a DAW is required to simply save backup files from the Trio Plus. I think I remember someone saying that turning the respective volume knobs down for the bass and the drums is the only way to create guitar only loops on the Trio Plus, but I'm wondering if the act of turning these knobs down is recognized when I back up files to a computer. Do you know if the backup files will be stored on the computer as guitar only if I turn the volume knobs down on the Trio Plus? I like the option of having bass and drums in my loops, but I'd also like to have the option to save guitar only files. Thanks in advance.
Yes you would need to turn down the bass and drums as they are part of the overall package when you use the TRIO. You could also plug the bass/drums and guitar outputs into a mixer and just mute those tracks.
@@ThePedalGuy Wow, thank you for providing such a prompt reply! Thanks. I’m thinking about doing a reaper series focused on guitarists and I will be sure to keep that in mind. The Reaper Mania channel has a ton of good tutorials there in the meantime.
@@ThePedalGuy Yes Kenny does a good job, but I need the basics of Reaper editing. The Reapers editing cursor is a complete mystery to me. I will keep a look out for your tutorial. Really enjoying the current series on the Trio plus with the DAW.
Move your cursor up just above the track in that narrow space until it changes. You can then select and area. You will get two triangles that you can move, crop, etc. The big green one is simply one click and your playback will start there. You can loop it to- circle near the start arrow. There are many videos out there that making learning this pretty easy. 3 years on, you probably now know more than I do. I just got it a couple weeks ago but I love it. Very powerful software and it actually works. You can right click and cut an area. Split tracks is cool as you can then raise or lower volume in a very specific area of one track. All tracks will appear selected but click in the one you want. You just have to play with it until it sticks.
Also I do not seem to get stereo recorded following your tip for today. It only records one lane in the reaper stereo track when I plug in the headphone socket in Trio+. Could be my 3/32 to 1/4 cable is faulty so I am ordering a new one, also ordering one that has 2 - 1/4 leads to see if I can seperate the drums from the bass.

Not quite. The idea is to record your TRIO songs into a DAW, at which point you can record more tracks, use the DAW FX and EQ's, and create a studio quality recording. Watch the upcoming vids and it will make sense.
How many times can you add layers onto one track? For example, can I overdub infinite times over one track like I can do with the looper on my boss DD-20? If so, can you undo an overdub without erasing everything else I laid down before it on the same track?
If you're talking about the looper itself, there's one level of undo. It's a good solid looper but it doesn't have some of the more recent features that we've seen in products like the Headrush where you can peel back numerous layers.
