    The actual video length is 5:23. After 5:23 session, the video is blank and has music only. It is great to see grand master of Hung Kuen to perform Taming Tiger form.

    Grand Master name is Chiu one of the most famous and feared Chinese fighter ever. He has made many kung fu movies and is the foremost authority on the Crane and Tiger form of Hun Gar. In this video he was 66 years old look for his video of Crane and Tiger form when he made it around the age of 30 and you will see how incrediably bad ass he was.

    There is no "Dan" in TCMA. Dan is a Japanese Judo rank designation instituted by Jigoro Kano in the late 1800s.

    • @teovu5557
      @teovu5557 3 года назад +1

      It was adopted as a convenient way to rank someone in many martial arts. I mean if you want to get "technical" about it then you could say there is no "Dan" rank in True Traditional Japanese martial arts before 1870s.(Judo is a Budo/modern art as oppose to Koryu or Bujutsu/ancient systems.) Old system used the Meikyo and Menkyo ranking system(Certificates/Scrolls).
      Also Dan is the Japanese adoption of the Chinese term Duan(段) which literally means step or stage in Chinese, but is also used to refer to one's rank, grade, or station, i.e., one's degree or level of expertise, knowledge and seniority.
      In mainland China and Taiwan most systems have adopted the Duan/Dan ranking and even Color belts as a convient way to grade(and make money off students).

    • @The-Contractor
      @The-Contractor 3 года назад

      @@teovu5557 Thanks. After some 50 years in TCMA I kind of get that. In the instant case, "Dan" is little more than a money making scam.

    • @teovu5557
      @teovu5557 3 года назад

      @@The-Contractor All traditional Martial arts are scams in a way. Unrealistic techniques and pretty "forms", bullshit origin stories and a promise you'll be able to defend yourself when in reality you're training bad habits that can get you killed like chambering your strikes at the hip, leaving your chin out and awkward stances with little to no mobility. Xu Xiaodong and his students all ready exposed TCMA by calling out and beating a bunch of masters. So far every TCMA that accepted the challenge got knocked out in 1 round by his MMA. Only kung fu that works is modern San Shou/Sanda and Shuai Jiao(Chinese wrestling). lol

      @@teovu5557 Macau, 1954,revealed a toxic level of no non-cooperative, hard contact sparring on a regular basis. Some of us stayed the correct course. San sau early on to establish potential combinations in accordance with good structure. Taolu much, much later on as future reference material. The key to effective fighting is ... fighting. Really quite simple. At one time you apparently bought into magic pixie dust and that's 100% on you.

    • @teovu5557
      @teovu5557 3 года назад

      @@The-Contractor Speaking of magic pixie dust, you're the one practicing TCMA. lol
      In the age of information and video cameras there is still no evidence of TCMA ever working unlike other systems who are caught on camera working in a street fight. Strange isnt it? facts are facts. TCMA dont work and are a waste of time. Example prove me wrong, show one video of traditional techniques working in a fight the way they are pracised and taught. and if it has to be altered or changed to work then it proves my point. your techniques are trash. lol unlike Muay Thai,Boxing,Judo or BJJ where the techniques you pracitsed are the same way it is used in sparring and combat.

    Everybody knows that a belt holds the pant, you teach nothing here. He wants all martial arts to be one family so he took Japanese rankings for comparison. For the weight-lifting belt, his father Chiu Kao was the first to claim that you can practice Kung Fu AND weight-lifting and they proved it well enough. It is a strong symbol of their history. Take a seminar with him to judge better, record the same form when you'll be over 60 and only then you might have some credit in your comments.
