Zay was sick in 2022. It pissed me off last year without him. That long crossing route in the Chargers Playoff game, when we came back??! Zay played with ❤️. This kinda hurts...

Awful move by baalke so many games come down to a third down conversion or 4th down play zay jones at any point can give you a much needed 100 yard game or if a guy gets injured for 3 weeks he can fill in and be productive and his leadership is very important

Last season his availability really hurt his stock. No matter how good you are you no good If you're unable to play.
Injuries happen you make absolutely no sense get rid of their most clutch player in a contract year

Make sense to me cuz the year before you dropped the football a lot I think they just didn't have talent on the roster last year new wide receivers coming in that did a good job for rookie filling in at the time it was more of the offensive line issues than wide receivers just my point of view

Writing was on the wall all season injury outside of two catches last season his production had dropped in a year where he was supposed to be getting better they obviously feel really good about Seth Williams outside of his drops he gets separation

I liked zay jones hopefully that was the right move
Releasing Zay earlier definitely would've helped him more, but it also would've shown our hand in the draft process which wouldn't be good.
Also, remember we do have Elijah Cooks and he is a solid accending player with size and speed, I think the Jags are wanting to improve their young guys and also remember, Zay got arrested recently.
yea we need to give Parker and Cooks a big look this season...I think Cephus is one to watch for.
Only way it makes sense is we want the money to pay someone big money who we intend to trade for: Higgins or Aiyuk? Gave Davis to WR 4? Or go out for another edge…

Zay couldn’t stay healthy, that’s the only knock. However, perhaps we can get ETN extended before he has a big year this season. We’ll probably look to add another veteran corner for depth. Go Jags!

Last season I think Doug Pederson got so tired of the questions. "When is Zay Jones coming back? " "Well it's day to day IR could be possibly on the board." Imagine having to say the same answer for what 5 weeks straight then when you do get him back he's not even a 100%. I loved him in 2022. I promise you If the jags made the playoffs we wouldn't be here. 😊
Hopefully the coaches have seen enough good in the younger receivers to validate releasing Zay. I guess we'll see.

Had to figure that was gonna happen as they drafted BTJ who is a zay jones. I would have preferred they used Zay to trade up to 34 with the Patriots and take Johnny Newton.
Just so that this is not misunderstood. BTJ is not the same as Zay jones. Zay Jones was a 2nd round pick who ran 4.5. BTJ is faster and more explosive. I expected it would happen when it was announced Jarvis Landry is working out with us. Landry will be on the roster
Zay Jones isnt a BTJ. Zay was never a #1 option, he doesnt run a 4.3 as well. Also Zay also got arrested recently, keep that in mind.

Plenty of games he was our best receiver but plenty when he was no where to be found. He would have been the best WR4 in the league. I liked him I had high hopes for him this year expecting him to be healthy.

Dude, just stop. Zay wasn’t available all last season, botched a catch that would have beat KC. Don’t act like he wasn’t hurt in 2022 as well. This guy has under performed and he’s a legitimate flight risk. Not at all upset about the move. I didn’t like the signing when we signed him the first time around.

DO WE KNOW ABOUT ZAYS HEALTH. Find that out before we once again try to find a reason to complain about Baalke. I also wanted to keep Zay and cut Parker Washington. Let's see what happens.
Cold Blooded right there!! Didn’t even give him a chance to go to camp and work for a spot. Not having good depth will probably do us in again this year
If Gabe Davis gets injured, I predict either Joshua Cephus or Wayne Ruby Jr. will step in. I love both receivers that we signed as UDFA’s. Ruby’s numbers are unreal. He has 45 receiving touchdowns in the last 2 seasons. Cephus should’ve been drafted, but had some alcohol issues in his past. If not for that, I had a 5th round grade on him.
None of those guys are close to zay enjoy last place

Said it at the time of the draft. Baalke picked 3 D Linemen 2 Dbs and only 2 offensive picks. Javon Baker was there in rd 3 ..didn't pick him.
Maybe like you said it was to do good by Jones since he'd be WR4 w/ diminished role. He was good for TLaw and would've been nice to have him for depth, but I kind of felt this would happen. Kind of excited about the new guys anyway.
10.7 million was going to be way too much for a WR4. And Trevor has proven he can throw to anybody and also make any receiver better. Kirk, Engram, and Jones had their best seasons in their first year with Trevor after playing for years in other places.
Teams like the Panthers, Patriots, Giants, Bills, Commanders, Colts,Cardinals, Broncos, Vikings, Chargers, should sign Zay Jones

I figured that it was going to happen after the battery charge that was dropped. I feel that we should have kept him unless we found a better vet to take his place. Right now I do not see his replacement on the team. We need to get a vet or pray that a rookie pans out. I just don't see it. Bad move IMO unless something is going on in the background

Imo I don't mind it I just would have done it sooner I feel like the only way for young players to get better is by playing and I was worried that parker was never going to see the field but that's just my opinion and I don't get paid to make these decisions so I understand both sides.
Gabe Davis, BTJ, and Zay all have similar builds and skill sets. You gotta let one go. Getting in legal trouble and not playing the majority of last season doesn’t help Zay’s case either. I don’t agree with the “who is your WR 4?” scenario. I don’t know a team in the NFL who is super confident in their WR 4.
He was barely on the field. He was ok. But u won't miss him 2 much in my opinion u can definitely find a replacement

@@scrubberducky5003 frees up cap space...gives them the opportunity to sign another free agent to help fill a position of need....the Jags felt they have upgraded the WR corp enough to let him go, to free up space to sure other positions like CB and DE i.e. Lattimore, Dupree...etc....i also wouldn't rule out Tee Higgins...would be killer to have Higgins, BTJ, Kirk, Davis, Washington, Duvernay but I doubt it.

Was Zay 100% healthy? I'm pretty sure THAT is why he was released. Elijah Cooks should make a big jump. Let's be honest...you said "big time QB". Who is wide receiver #3 on the Packers, Lions or Chiefs. TREVOR will be why the receiving corp plays well...rookie or experience. I'm sure they let him go due to his health.
