Y’all fail to realize 2 things when it comes to the Maason Smith pick. 1. Hamilton has been battling injuries and is getting close to needing a new contract, so why not draft a younger guy that won’t need a real contact for 4 years and has more upside than Hammy? 2. We got bullied upfront on both sides of the ball. Listen to what Josh Allen had to say about the pick in terms of how big our front 4 is now. It’s not the flashy pick you all wanted, doesn’t make it bad sorry to burst your bubble.
So based off your logic, why not draft Kris Jenkins? Literally went the next pick? All you’re saying is a positional need which no one disagrees with. It’s the player not the position. You must be a Brenton Strange fan too😂
@@Jags2Riches Because Maason Smith is objectively a better player than Jenkins. Maason smith is 6’6 315lb was a 5 star prospect coming into college and is an absolute freak of nature. Watch the tape. Plus, there’s a bunch of draft boards out there… Mel’s, other NFL talking heads, fans… and then there’s the Jaguars’ board who obviously had Maason as not only the best DT available but the best player available. The Assistant General Manager said so in an interview.

@@Jags2Riches no the player is great. The only thing that had him going low was his injury. Jags got 2 players that had injury history and it worked. Myles Jack and Walker Little. 2 guys who was supposed to go in the first round but didn't cause of injury. Same here
Jones is going to be a great DB for us. Both him and Maason wanted to be Jags, and you can’t complain when you draft kids who WANT TO BE JAGS. After years of people leaving and years of never getting big names to come here, we actually have quality football players who want to play for the Duval Faithful. Draft is looking solid so far in my opinion, I’m looking for interior OLine, Safety, and another corner tomorrow. Everything else is them drafting a quality player and not so drafting to plug a hole. I’m optimistic

I just want Maason to be able to help Armstead push the pocket and help JA and Travon eat. If he also makes sacks and some tackles for loss then its a plus but pushing the pocket is extremely effective and very valuable so i get that pick if he gets fully healthy and coached up by our DC. Jones i feel can be our starting Nickle and is very good in man press so i do think its very possible to have got a steal there. All is speculation and depending on staying healthy as well as development but as of traits and mindset as well as filling needs i do think so far it was good picks. Time will tell but good picks.

Leave it to baalke to screw up the draft. The guy is good in free agency and with contracts but is TERRIBLE at drafting.
House was Defensive coordinator for LSU for 2 years and is now a coach at Jacksonville so they know these guys. Also we have a new defensive coach so I am sure It has to fit in his scheme.

I'd rather he just didn't lie. I find it hard to believe he tried to trade up multiple times this draft but doesn't know how many picks he has left this draft.
