I am glad that Hoagie Haven is still there! I went to high school in Princeton in the early 80s, and ate a lot of their hoagies. It is still probably the best sandwich place I have ever seen anywhere.

    That chicken cutlet sandwich...um...wow.
That restaurant is as un-dinky as it gets. Powerhouse of an experience.

Great video. Not knocking it at all because I think you guys did a pretty good job. As someone who was born and raised, I appreciate if people who come in and make these videos actually know the history and make mention in their videos. You guys did better than anyone I've seen who makes videos of the town but I find it funny that no one wants to talk to the locals and find out the real hidden gems.
You pointed out some hidden gems, however I do think you missed quite a few others.
The Nassau inn is nice but extremely expensive.
There's a lot in town, but there's more outside of town as well.

    • @krystalanderic
      @krystalanderic  2 года назад

Thanks so much for the reply, glad that you liked it! We lived in the Princeton area for ~10 years and we found that there's so much to experience in town that it was hard to pick just a few places to talk about. Nassau Inn is very nice - what are some of your other favorite places?

      @@krystalanderic Thanks for the reply.
Some of the best local eats in town have sold and moved on, or changed owners. (Georges ribs), (Lahiere's).. there's a few others on that list.
Food: You hit it with Hoagie Haven. They used to be better with their portions, but they now go by their fat sandwiches. When it comes to Spanish food, Tortuga's Mexican Village. Hidden on Liegh Ave, it's a 5 star restaurant that has amazing authentic dishes! Call me old school, but Conte's on the northern end of Witherspoon St has the pizza in town. You won't be disappointed. And you also have to know how to order it. (Being from town, I've eaten at every single restaurant, been to every bar, hung out at every street corner, walked every road, there's honestly so much to add)
Fun things to do that no one thinks of: If you ever get the chance, check out Firestone Library. The architecture, the size of the library... it's a maze, you'll get lost in it. But it's fun and worth finding your way around inside.
See a show at McCarter Theatre. Check out the Record Exchange, brings back memories and you can find old records, tapes, cd's of music you used to listen to.
There are some fun things such as Axe throwing, Terhune Orchards (For all ages), Catch a Rising Star comedy club, but you'll have to venture a few minutes outside Princton for these. Everyone wants that Princeton address but they're actually in different towns. (West Windsor, Lawrence Twp). Tigers Tale is a fun pub where you can get great burgers. Locals from Princeton and Montgomery go here but this establishment is located in Montgomery.
Here's the top local eats in town that are #1 rated, casual, affordable and fun: Ice Cream: Thomas Sweets. Coffee: Small World. Pizza: Conte's. Quick take out: Olives. Sushi: Sakura Express. Take Olives or Sakura, eat outside in the plaza of the library.
I could keep going, but i'll stop here. Princeton's landscape has changed over the years and it's demographic is much different from when I was younger, but there's still great things about the town and people will gravitate towards the town no matter what. It's a fun place and convenient for those who don't like big cities.

Rojo's is OK. Small World Cafe on Witherspoon is where it's at for coffee. Something to try next time. Ditto Tortugas for bangin' Mexican.
Also, Thomas Sweets for ice-cream and gourmet chocolates.

Small World Cafe is really great too!! Ohhh we love Mexican and will have to try that next time we're in town!
