There's something cathartic about watching a speedrun of a horror game, kind of a similar feeling to watching a Souls game speedrun. Like you've got this game full of enemies meant to intimidate and butcher you in horrible ways and you get to see them reduced to nothing more than speed bumps. Lookin' forward to RE4 stuff! That game's my jam.
Well said! It's a big shift in player perspective to go from being beaten down by the game to being the one beating it down. Run is a ton of fun too. I can't wait for RE4 either. Cheers!
@@theDeModcracy hey I know it’s been a while since this comments so you probably won’t see this, but are you planning on doing any boss rankings or speedruns or anything for RE4?
@@JustSendMeLocationPlease That's exactly why I'm here. Even after watching the video I still don't know how he's doing some of this stuff, like running right past zombies without getting grabbed or beating G1 with just the knife. And how the hell is he RUNNING past lickers and not getting pounced on? They're fast and they can jump.
The reason why people shoot Annette at 33:37 is to lower the DA. For those who don't know, DA stands for Difficulty Adjustment. It's a hidden stat in the game that increases and decreases depending on how the player is doing. The more DA one has, the harder the game becomes. Enemies take less damage and deal more damage the higher the DA. If the number is too high, enemies will not stagger immediately from head shots as they normally would in standard. So technically, your standard run can become as difficult as hardcore. Things that increase DA are landing shots, picking up ammo & healing items. Things that lower DA are taking damage and missing shots. I'm sure there are a few things I've missed when it comes to managing DA, but that's the gist of it.
Huh I always thought it was because they hated Annette and everyone dislikes Annette’s conversation. DA also changes how much ammo you get, from crafting and pick ups
Man, I remember at the very beginning of my first normal run I used the IGN guide. Found a bunch of 9mm ammo and healing items. Was feeling good. Came across a zombie cop and put 6 rounds into his head before he fell down. Then put another 1 to wake him up. Another 4 to perma kill it. I was swearing whole time, used up all my ammo on an early encounter. DA is a real thing.
I didn't make any world record, but thanks to this I still got an S+ with 1h 45mins timer, which got me all in one run: trophy for obtaining S with Leon, trophy for completing a run with less than 14k steps, trophy for not opening the item box. So, thanks a lot, you're a hero to me!
Good entertaining commentary. 1: you shoot annette, because it counts as missed shots. Those lower your internal difficulty score. 2: that grenade somehow causes damage to G2, that's what causes him to automatically go to the doo4 3: Lol at calling ivy, Clickers.
@@courierz9451 Its called DA, difficulty adjustment. The more health items you pick up, more you take damage, and more shots you miss, the game will lower the difficulty making enemies do less damage and be less aggressive. Also doing the opposite in standard mode will make it harder to the point of zombies doing double lunges like in hardcore mode.

I find it faster to bait the last "poop monster" to come at you and then just run around it on the left. Moving up onto the ledge and then down just seems to take longer and you avoid getting stuck on the corner too.
No way am I going to attempt beating this game in under an hour, but there's some great advice in here for S rank runs. I'll definitely be using the same strategy as you next time I fight G3 as Leon, he always gives me a hard time without Acid Rounds
This video was a huge help. Finally got my samurai edge. I’m gonna try to cop the rocket launcher and the sub machine gun in one go. Wish me luck I feel some rage moments coming in : p
In the container fight no matter what i do, i have to push the button and slam the container on him two times cause of the minor damage the knife does, but it was a fast fight too, you helped me think of an strategy
I gotta try this DeMod. I'm not great as Resi games but these strats will get my time down to S rank quality for sure as it just appears to be running most of the time!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You got me into speedrunning with this vieo and I got a real good time for me with that route thanks to you. Great explained. I hope you do claire as well in the future
Speedrunners shot all ada's ammo because of DA (difficulty adjustment). If you hit a shot, the difficulty of the game increase a bit, otherwise it decrease a bit. DA influences the enemies' attack desire and health , when your DA is low the enemies would just stand here and there and don't want to attack you.
@@theDeModcracy You are welcomed. Also how many bullets you own influence DA too so speedrunners only pick the essential bullets or just shot it into air. It's doesn't make a huge different but if you are going for world record you must deal with DA lol.
Okay, gonna admit, never knew you could grab the big gear in the clock tower right away after using it like that. Ugh. Really? Nice! I'll definitely do that in the future.

Elizabeth ah, yeah that 1 word said a lot more than I intended, and explains the other 2 comments being so... I hate to use this terminology, remake fanboyish/OG haterish. Edited out the “just”. And I appreciate your nice reply 👍
Couldn’t have passed this without you 👍
Hey man I just wanted to say I really enjoy these speed run commentary videos. They're super chill
That's all. I just really like them
U are a smart and precise person
Enjoyed watching these on stream, keep on doing them.
Loved the video followed your advice and got 1 hour and 5 mins
I only needed help with the first Mr. X encounter until you meet with Ada. But, ya' did pretty good on this for a speedrun. You got me for a sub. 🤘
I find it faster to bait the last "poop monster" to come at you and then just run around it on the left. Moving up onto the ledge and then down just seems to take longer and you avoid getting stuck on the corner too.
I've spedrun this game around 100+ times and only managed to get an hour 2 minutes
Thanks to you I got s rank with 2 hours 29 minutes and 56 seconds. 2:29:56
Nobody:
DeMod: *"I'M A FLAMINGO"*
dude thank you this game took a long time to beat and after i got to the garage i did not know what to do thank you!!!!!!
53:15 Fiancée?! Good for you, DeMod!
"Hi Dana, if you're watching"
Me, coincedentally named Dana: ...hey
In the container fight no matter what i do, i have to push the button and slam the container on him two times cause of the minor damage the knife does, but it was a fast fight too, you helped me think of an strategy
Can't imagine Re3 speed run video from this guy damn
Nice speedrun, I like how you incorporated new strats in your run!
Thank you broski. This was a huge help. Cut my runtime by alot.
I gotta try this DeMod. I'm not great as Resi games but these strats will get my time down to S rank quality for sure as it just appears to be running most of the time!
Just did my first "speed run" ever thanks to your video and finished with 1:19:40 not too bad for a first try
Very nice time indeed! That's actually 8 minutes off my personal best
Ah, I didn't even think about DA! Thanks for letting me know. That makes a ton of sense
@@theDeModcracy You are welcomed.
Also how many bullets you own influence DA too so speedrunners only pick the essential bullets or just shot it into air.
It's doesn't make a huge different but if you are going for world record you must deal with DA lol.
Thank you so much I loved your play through and the fact that you did it on normal was awsome for me.
Thanks to your video I finally had the guts to finish this game haha
Yes, thisss!! I’m so ready for this.
Damn good video. Play the whole series and be your own critic 🤷♂️ they're all fun in their own way I think. You got my sub!
The dogs still mess me up everytime 😆
Okay, gonna admit, never knew you could grab the big gear in the clock tower right away after using it like that. Ugh. Really? Nice! I'll definitely do that in the future.
Yes our re2 speedrunning ranks are growing
Speedrunner who doesn’t press A to open doors more efficiently? It’s a helpful trick in this game. Tbh I didn’t know until like my 10th playthrough.
thank god someone makes good speedrunning content
Great video man . Btw RE4 is my all time favorite of the series best one in my opinion . I hope you enjoy it cause I would love to watch a speed run if that .
