When umbrella cockatoos move their tongue rhythmically while opening/closing their beak it means they are really happy. They often do this while receiving affection from their preferred humans.

That is absolutely the funniest cockatoo I've ever seen!! They're so expressive anyway with the feather fluffing and crazy human-like head movements, but this little guy takes it to a new level with his little game.🤣 He's gotta be a joy to have around!😁👍

You must really love birds before thinking of owning one like this beautiful cockatoo. They are very intelligent and demand lots of your attention. Be prepared to provide it or they will let you know they’re unhappy by screeching and sometimes pulling out their feathers. Give them lots of love and attention. That is such an important part of success with a bird such as this one. Make them part of your family. They are very sociable and love to be included in whatever you’re doing.

Interesting . Actually he is the only captive cockatoo that I know who does this. And he does it on command if we want him to.
YEP!!! So is putting his butt in the air, dragging his beak, moving his tongue and tasting him & the couch. This is bird '101' right out of th bird books & right out of 'Bird Tricks' videos. This is going to lead to him being sexually frustrated and lashing out once he gets hormonal!

Awww thank you! Thank you for sharing Onni with us. And thanks be the Universe for always bringing me what I need. Some of my dreams last night were irritating and disturbed me with confusing imagery. My mood, fragile thing that it is, was still light when I woke but I lacked the brightness that is my nature. Onni brightened my morning.
