I'm slightly late to the game with this channel, given my general avoidance of audio review channels, for various reasons. I've been bingeing this channel now for a few weeks and can I just say that Gene and James bring a level of scientific analysis and credibility to this space that is refreshing, much needed and appreciated, by me and many others I'm sure. As an ex-science teacher, I really do appreciate what you guys do!
Gene, now that these subs have finally hit the streets, how long before your team does some reviews? Would love to see a shootout between the Dynamo 12 and the Abysss 10. Displacement vs Power.
These are lifestyle products, they are not in the same class as the BalancedForce or previous gen Depth/Descent subs. The modern era of Martin Logan has moved to appeal to the generic consumer and is less interested in high-end audio gear.
I think its the case with the subs specifically because they went from servos to just dual opposed to normie subs. They're probably going to be fine tbh, but their speakers have gotten better in terms of measured performance compared to decades prior. Frankly ML was slowing down severely and they needed the new aesthetic and target response to keep up in the market.
@@Audioholics Sure, there's nothing wrong with that. Measurements just help explain why we might have a certain impression of certain speakers. I like a slight emphasis on the highs too.
Would love to know how these compare to the REL S line especially since the word musical was thrown out there quite a bit and thats what REL builds their subs for first. Can you run LFE in and high level speaker inputs simultaneously on either of these to get the best of both worlds? I have 2 dynamo 1100xs currently which is why im asking. Thanks Gene 🍻

Seek your advice , currently i owned SVS PB16 and keen to change with JL Audio Fanthom F112 as i heard a lot of good thing that JL Audio has. But im just afraid if i did a wrong decision by swapping my SVS PB 16 to Fanthom F112.... Seek your advice tq.

I have been using the Dynamo 1100x for about 10 years. Very nice sound and so, so reliable. Great intro to the new series Gene!

Sealed is for discipline, ported is for "wow" factor!!!

There's more money in the generic consumer than people looking for high end. Unfortunately.

Erin's Audio Corner reviewed the Motion XT with measurements showing a boosted top end which may explain the 'imaging'.

Very unlikely to be disappointed in the JLAudio. But SVS did just release the SVS PB17 Ultra

I am disappointed in the new line of subs. I love the feature of being able to change the orientation of the woofer. Oh well things change...
