      @@GreenEyeDemon no baffle strike. Not sure what the builder did to avoid that, I wasn't there for the full build, but I know he was able to make it work just fine. As for the manufacture year it was a new production. This was back in 2017. Whether it was made that year or not I don't recall. Point is they can happen to any manufacturer. Doesn't hurt to check.

      @@GreenEyeDemonwhen I say no baffle strike, that was after the build was complete and test fire was done. Builder checked the barrel with calipers prior to the tear down. Was not center of the bore. Removed barrel and did whatever it was he did to fix it.

      @fn45tac1 Год назад

      @@GreenEyeDemon easiest way is to put the can on then just look through the barrel from the breach. Point it up at a light source and you'll be able to tell right way if something is off. Like I said, cheap insurance

    • @fn45tac1
      @fn45tac1 Год назад

      @@GreenEyeDemon no idea age of the rifle.but it wasn't a discounted buy. Was a stock rifle from Kvar. Owner wanted some work done that requires the barrel to be pulled anyway so builder just went through and checked it and found it was off center. It's not something from 20yrs ago. It was 2017. That's pretty recent as far as I'm concerned. What difference does it make.of it's warrantied? Barrel was out of spec. Period. Can happen to any manufacturer. And again yea it didn't have a baffle strike because the gun was never fired with a can on it in the first place. Was torn down for the build then rebuilt, test fired with and without a can. In regards to QC, I didn't make that claim. I simply pointed out a first hand experience with a reputable AK manufacturer that was a direct example of why someone should take a few minutes and check the concentricity of their barrel.

    As someone who works on AKs for a living, welcome to the righteous side my friend. Some friendly changes I would recommend; chop the back side of BCM grip so that magazines will clear it without issue. Try running a proper 14x1 muzzle device. The warden is nice however that is a large and heavy setup hanging off the end of the barrel. Also try running a buffer tube adapter with an AR15 buttstock, which still is king in my opinion for comfort and length of pull.

    • @jonredcorn862
      @jonredcorn862 Год назад +1

      Preach also modern AK furniture has been around for along time now. Don't need to buy some lame presetup ak to get modern shit. My fully zenitco'd 103 has been sitting around for like 3 years. Just another garand thumb, admin copuy.

    • @Myemnhk
      @Myemnhk Год назад +2

      Ar15 buttstock isn't good for an ak with optics. You have to do a very low chin weld to see through the optic and it's very uncomfortable. It's okay for irons but the stock he currently as is superior, not only does it fold for compactness it has a riser so you can get a full cheek weld using optics.

    • @p47rr
      @p47rr Год назад

      A AR stock is comfortable if you get the right adapter. Some are terrible. But there are ones well thought out. You won’t see any military installing Alpha stocks on their rifles. And there are plenty of adjustable stocks with a cheek riser built in. Just look at the military in Israel. They modernized the AK fifteen years ago.

    • @Myemnhk
      @Myemnhk Год назад +1

      @@p47rr because alpha stocks are more expensive, for good reason. The reason most militaries use the same collapsible buttstock on their m4s is just because they're so cheap. 10 dollar stock vs 200 dollar one is a no brainer. There are many stocks ar type stocks that you'll also never see on military rifles besides special operations that can afford it and don't have to use military issued stuff, just like how russian spec ops use alpha ak105s with stocks from zenitco. Point is just because no military uses them doesn't mean they're not good. Militaries aren't exactly known for making good decisions when spending their money on arms. Plus military grade isn't exactly a standard I'd want to hold myself to considering everyone that's been in the military knows military grade means it's crap and barely works. That being said I don't think anything you said in your comment was wrong.

    An alignment rod is a must-have when dealing with AKs and suppressors. And if you haven't already, use a thread adapter (or QD muzzle device) that facemounts off the muzzle instead of the front sight base. This is 90% of most people's alignment issues with AKs.

      @@GreenEyeDemon Please stop spamming your lack of knowledge in every comment on the matter. Maybe if you deal with some american made barrels only, which explains your limited knowledge, but barrels out of specs are not uncommon from countries like poland, romania and even russia. I'm not american so i have seen AKs from virtually all countries here including China and Russia on the regular and some of them have absolutely retarded barrels. A rod is def. a must have with AKs.

    • @dakotasalavat6026
      @dakotasalavat6026 Год назад +1

      Not an expert here, but it’s important to understand when the barrels were made as well. Lots of Soviet factories lost their lead machinists and trainers as well when the soviets left / ended.
      I’d bet 100 series barrels out of Russian factories are plenty up to spec given they machine them.
      A mid 2000’s Romanian factory might be turning barrels with the intent to sell to African or 3rd world markets where they likely won’t get any client inspection.
      All comes down to company and product intent.

    Damn, that's a nice AK. Mine is just a $300 SAR-1 that I got 20 years ago (two of them actually). Back when a East Bloc AK could be had for cheap as opposed to what they cost today. They're pretty basic. They don't even have a muzzle device. For a long time, I just kept it stock, wicked mean trigger slap and everything. Finally a few years ago I decided to change it up a little. Added Magpul furniture and grip to it which makes it a little lighter. Finally just a couple months ago I added the ALG replacement trigger for the AK (their AR triggers are great too). I can't believe I waited so long to do that fix. It's a night and day difference in ease of shooting and comfort.
    I used to have a ton a East Bloc surplus steel mags but I lost most of those in an apartment fire many years ago though thankfully I was able to save my firearms. I was making do with Tapco mags (which were always a bit tight and finicky to load in the mag well) but since I'm such a Magpul fanboy anyways, I finally bought a bunch of AK pmags and those perform very well. Easier to load rds into and easier to load into the rifle.

Kinda surprised no one else has tried to do MKBHD guntuber but its awesome. Also kinda surprised you're having clearance issues with your vert grip in that position, thats about where mine is at and if feels fine imo. You need a surprisingly shallow angle to get the mag in so maybe its just a practice thing. I believe the Romanian dong grips give you even less clearance but people use shark-fin wood grips and that zenico cut vert grip for a reason.

    I’m trying to do this look, exactly or at least close to, with my AIRSOFT CYMA AK-74M. Can’t seem to find the front hand guards like what this video covered, which is the main thing i’m going for. I also don’t have an extensive budget so lower end stuff would be largely preferred. It is airsoft, after all. Thanks!

    I think we keep seeing the WASR builds, because those are the only rifles people are willing to cut up, and are still war worthy.

    How did you fit the warden on the WASR? I can’t find a compatible break that fits the small threads

    Maybe cut the vert grip like a shark fin so it won’t interfere with the reloads.

    Ran the shit out of zenitco. Finally got sick of making the nose heavy gun even heavier (unloaded). Was impressed how the Russian parts held to the abuse it took. Bumps scratches mud dirt water ZERO rust anywhere screws included. A well thought out design… zero accumulation of water. Not sure if Midwest built these to that level but definitely keep an eye on the screws and threads.
