The moment Dallas writers made a terrible mistake. It may have achieved short term ratings grabbers but ultimately ruined the show. It was never the same after this.
Very smart of the writer to include the landscaper: the sound of the lawnmower drowns out the sound of Katherine's car so Pam doesn't hear it; the position of the landscaper's trucker creates a place for Katherine's car to crash where there otherwise wouldn't be one.
Wasn't for the landscaper the car would have been heard then both Bobby and Pam would had escaped that tragedy but Patrick Duffy quit show leaving fans sad and disappointed 😔.
It was season 7 (1984-85) on CBS for the 90 minute season finale with the episode: "Swan Song" before the next season's live-action "dream season" on DALLAS which aired on May 17, 1985 when Patrick Duffy's character Bobby Ewing died in a hit-and-run automobile accident. Most of the viewers saw this season ending cliffhanger and gave good ratings for this climax episode!
Katherine would've wanted to kill either one anyway. She would've wanted to kill Bobby to spite Pam because Bobby wouldn't love her. She would've wanted Pam to suffer anyhow.
Dallas was ruined already. Sue Ellen blew up in the building. Bobby was dead. They punted on allowing Pam and JR to do battle, despite the fact that this was the original premise of the show and, we had been waiting on this fight for 8 years. What was left? JR fighting with Mark Graison. Pam and Mark have a baby. I don’t think so. They only thing they could do was reboot the show and hope for the best.
If Bobby was my husband in this clip he was leaving for the day to go to work he got hit by the car driven by Katherine because she was jealous that he married me instead of her after his divorce from Pam, he had died from his injuries especially if we had a small child together I don’t know what I would have done his family would have me stay at Southfork to raise mine and Bobby’s child I would say how I am going to live without Bobby as my husband my child without their daddy

Patrick Duffy wanted to leave
@@kellymcquay2626 And then return a year later. There was other ways of having him leave without dying
Patrick Duffy left and then came back. Yes I wish the writing was different.
@@joemurphy2177Patrick Duffy ASKED his character be killed off---------on screen
@@jasongilmore2709 That's true. The actors had too much influence. Larry Hagman could ask for anything. Never good for a show
To look on Christopher's face is priceless. Not knowing what the chain of events will bring next. I feel so bad
Yes Christopher face when he finds out 😢

Yes I didn’t even think of that. That was very smart how they added that in. No wonder they didn’t hear the car coming fast. Great point.😊

Katherine was trying to kill Pam, not Bobby!😮

Whenever this scene was filmed, Bruce Springsteen was at the height of his triumphant “Born In The USA World Tour”.
O……..k……..
