I know you don’t keep a lot on your cart, is there a possibility of getting a video on how you go about stocking soap and paper products, especially if your rooms have paper towel dispensers and soap. Sure it’s fine if your bathrooms are right next to your closet, but some people have bathrooms all over.
I work as a substitute Custodian for a local school district. I'll get right to the point. All of the Elementary schools have ONE custodian. and a 7.5 hrs that we work out of 8 1/2 hr scheduled shifts. It almost always takes 7 hrs JUST to fully trash ( talking a LOT of rooms) and then having to Vacuum 8 to 13 rooms. That includes rounding up all the trash and boxes often takes 3 trips as the dumpsters can be over 100 yards away. Were not even mentioning here the 2 complete sets of bathrooms + the kinder bathrooms. Some places they assign 4 sets of bathrooms. I have gone without breaks or lunch about 85% of the time in my 2+ year stint. Our Junior highs have 2-3 Custodians..it's still a LOT of work... but nothing compared to the Elementary schools. Oh... supposed to dust 3 rooms a night... along with other little things. I'd like to mention the "dangerous" thing of being alone at night.... falling... crime...or whatever . I worked for this same district over 40 years ago as a kid ! Just felt like a little work would make days off more fun again ! Had retired 8 years. The amount of work is really ridiculous. I would NEVER sign on as a "real" employee No no NO !
I know what you mean, I have 18 classrooms including labs lecture halls and a tutoring center where they eat make a mess daily, I could implement your advice for sure thank you.
Sir i have been a custodian for about three years . I had know idea what the job entail . So i ran to RUclips and came across your channel , its has help me so much . From waxing floors , cleaning a window or something as basic to setting up you cart . But this video this probably my favorite. Keep up the great work. Thank you
I currently work for a highschool i have 14 classrooms a boys and girls restroom 2 faculty restrooms a band hall and dance hall i clean and boy its a hard job i bust my butt off every night i got 2 disciplinary actions already for leaving a candy wrapper on a floor and 2 pieces of leaves in another class room and the school im in has been up since the 60s. The plumbing systems are old so most of the toilets don't flush and kids leave poop pee clogged up i have to suck it up with the vacuum then i get in trouble for a hair on the floor freaking terrible salute to you man i love your vids no matter how hard it is your videos help me they really do thanks
The first thing I do when I get there is pull all my trash everywhere then sit the trash cans down at the end of the hall down the hallway I'll be walking down to go to break , we go through the cafeteria to get to the dumpsters so about 10 minutes before my first break I head that way with my trash and put new trash can liners in and by that time it's break time , then I just start at the hallway that's the messiest and go to the rooms one by one and dust mop and three days a week I wipe down desks and counters and sinks and i vacuum rugs in classes depending on how dirty they are . I have two staff bathrooms in one hall and one in the nurses office and two more in the office , I do those when I'm cleaning that area I also clean water fountains and vaccum the rugs underneath . I save my gang bathrooms for last and usually use the bathroom cleaning machine , I save the main entry way for last and the windows , it seems to work best cleaning the windows at night I turn off the light in the entry way and use a small flashlight to see fingerprints on the glass. With whatever time I have left over there's always four class rooms that need mopped nightly . It almost always looked like I never even touched them with a mop the night before and then I try to mop the offices at least once a week but the office usually stays pretty clean to be honest. I only have four maybe five classrooms that have a lot of debris to sweep and mop the rest of my area isn't that bad at all honestly.

Custodian is a very demanding job...everyone wants to control or report things. Thank you to advice us.

The job description would be absolutely impossible to do even for 1 shift.
Mr. Jeff, i saw you did a video on cleaning stainless steel with Dawn dish soap. I didn't get a chance to watch it. Can you give me a link?

I’m all about simple and keeping real. I lost my way on some of my videos. I just have had to get back to being me.
What are you chances of you doing a video on your dust mopping method, like the pattern you use etc? So many rooms have different furniture setups.

You definitely have the thumb on you.
On that auto scrubber in the video, does the vacuum start by letting the squeegee down or do you have to hit a button to start it?
