Nowadays street homeless and are fentanyl addicts, and not capable of doing anything no matter how simple it is. Street encampments are open air drugs markets brewing all sorts of crime. Majority of them will die from fentanyl overdose, or drugs related violence. Second hand fentanyl smoke can easily kill you in no time. Street homeless gradually destroy everything around themselves. We will never reduce street homelessness without reducing the amount of fentanyl drug available on our streets. If they can afford, they smoke fentanyl up to 100 times a day. That's how all these fires are started. Homeless advocates are mentally stuck in Pathological Altruism, and all they do is enabling fentanyl addicts remain as close as possible to their fentanyl dealers.

@gisthelawOfprob but new ever younger ones are recruited daily. We have armies of people that flirt with drugs for fun or self medication purposes, and they easily replenish homeless thieves ranks as fentanyl addicts. All street drugs are laced with fentanyl nowadays including street marijuana. There is no recreational drugs use any longer with fentanyl around. You flirt with drugs, you are extremely likely to end up smoking fentanyl without even knowing it.

Seriously great idea BUT who is going to manage it, keep it clean and organized and efficient. Mentally ill who can not function independently or may have a violent tendency need to be housed else wear in a secure facility. It’s about the managing of the building more so than the convenience. I think it’s a good idea with strict maintenance, you have so many negatives, just to name one BED BUGS, mandatory Landry day, hoarding issues, rats and other problems that will need micro managed everyday ongoing, putting these individuals up and washing your hands will turn into a disasters. You will need to hire people possible some of the homeless to manage halls enforce maintenance, laundry hoarding policies and someone to manage these individuals WHO ACTUALLY CARES. This can work you just need good, caring, and efficient people to run it. House keeping should be implemented again hired homeless can do this with intense oversight, this could be a great idea, drug addicts can be managed, mentally I’ll are another situation, they would have to have the capacity to take medicine everyday. A lot of homeless needs to be in the right care facilities and this isn’t it. I support this idea based on the competence of it being ran. This will seem a huge babysitting job if stricked, enforced guild-lines are not followed that create exceptional habits that form wellbeing and in turn will creat a sense of self for the homeless.

Instead lock the bums in a tent city in the desert, surrounded by barbed wire, let them sleep on army cots. Let them do their own cleaning. If good enough for our brave solders, it is more than good enough for junkie bums.
Unless you isolate the junkie bums from their drugs and booze, you wont solve the problem.

I get the idea of it, trying to help people, but this is the wrong way to go about it. Why not make it a temporary place for people to stay to help them get back on their feet. and at the same time work with them to find employment. Maybe even a mental health facility as some homeless mentally cannot work due to mental health. All they are doing is just throwing everyone into a building and try to cover up the problem but we are not getting to a root cause.

The reality is that majority of the people are against any homeless shelters near where they live. This is understandable, because crimes, drugs, and violence are legitimate concerns that people have about the homeless. At the same time, the homeless problem won't simply go away but will worsen. More and more homeless people will continue to camp out on sidewalks near homes, parks, schools, and businesses whether residents like it or not. The only solution is to find large pieces of land outside of the cities to build homeless shelters. The major challege is how to persuade or force homeless people to move there. For the project to have any chance of success, you must have security, job training, alcohol/drug treatments, mental health service, and other social services in place to make sure they are getting the help they need to turn their lives around.

Instead of turning into something useful like a mental health rehabilitation facility, they're trying to turn it into a homeless enablement facility. 10 THOUSAND of them at that. I remember in high school reading about ancient armies conquering other lands with armies smaller than that. Lmao. Amazing.

This whole thing is so inappropriately dealt with. The man who said they need help and not a place to sleep.... both correct and incorrect. The help must happen or all that happens is an inabling project. In order to get the help they need to be made to maditorily do services either in the building or the community they are living in. Give them a sense of belonging and they will learn they dont have to behave like they are being dejected. And this separate from the rejection they feel from being pigeonholed into the role others say they must be playing because of the way they look and there curent circumstance. In bc on the sunshine coast in Powell river they have tried this type of housing help. The project was slated as inexpensive housing with strict councillors and medical staff helping people get there lives back together so they could quickly find new housing. Projected stay time was 4 months. This quickly shifted into a low barrier housing project that gave them $250/m rent with 1-2 meals paid for and an inditerminant stay time as long as you didnt asalt the staff..... f that!!!!! This in no way has helped anyone there other than to make it easier for them to get and.take.what they want drug wise. The placement of these housing sights needs to be away from city centers... and all shopping. The crime rate around the housing shot up to the point that stores have been closing earlier to avoid so much loss and having to call police and ambulance services to remove overdoses victims and people who got high in the bathroom and are to high to leave on there own power. Many people will benefit from the help but not if there isnt enough help to actually make a difference. Helpful people who truly care are in short supply so these places will always be understaffed. Almost setting themselves up.to fail. Sad really. Wish we could all care and help eachother instead of all being detached and complaining about how things are or aren't being done.

I think this is a wonderful idea. Those opposing should place themselves in the situation of non- housing. Until you have lived that life, you'll never understand. America would not have a housing crises if every investor would take this same initiative. There are far too many buildings sitting idle that would more than accommodate those in need of shelter. If they can live on the streets without causing a disturbance, I'm sure they will learn how to cohabitate with others to maintain their housing and shelter status. I would love to work in a place such as the one that's described in this video. It is my passion and desire to help those in need, especially the homeless. God bless the homeless, and may God bless the developers involved in bringing this project to fruition.
