- This is one of my favorites Vangelis themes.
So simple, yet so intense...

Just a note: I used the Nord Modular G2 modules to build a virtual CS80, with the same structure and signal path (It took me about two weeks to build and refine it...)
Very nice and very impressed. I always think this piece must be used for all NASA spacewalks/missions. Would love to hear this beamed back to us from the Moon or Mars.

All I remember is the old mercury lynx commercial in my head when I was just a young kid...
I was hooked on vangelis ever since...
I'm 54 now.
i commented on this about a year ago and stand by it as - quite possibly the best cover on youtube.
I've had this on my favorites list for over a year and just thought i should chime in and say how awesome i thought it still was!

Thank you very much for the feedback.. I was under the idea it was something to do with the frequencies, I'm looking at getting a Roland Juno series synthesizer or something similar. A musician freaked out one time after he got through 5 sets of speakers to his Korg. He used to get mad and shout at people.. :)

Waw! This takes me a great deal back. In 1989 i bought a cassette with Vangelis 'China' album on it. :) This is a great performance of one of those songs. Well done!

I think the biggest obstacle will be that big dynamic lead sound.

Incredible! One of my favorite Vangelis pieces. Just got the Arturia collection of virtual synths - your playing is definitely an inspiration to crack open the software.. Got to see Vangelis at UCLA (1988) - wish he'd play live again.

You know, for watching this guy playing I spent like 9 thousand dollars in keyboards and then I had to move to another country all of the sudden and I left all of them back home. I am looking for a job around here (Miami) have no money to bring them over. Still every night I just wish I could loose my self playing songs like that. All I can do now is watch. :s

This is obviously the best version of Chung Kuo on youtube. Interesting how you built a virtual CS80 in the Nord Modular, it does sound very good. Are there any effects on the nord and other parts, I'm gonna guess theres some chorusing on the Nord but I could be wrong!

Really lovely cover. I remember first hearing this theme during a car commercial in the 1980's. The music really captivated me, and I'd wanted to know for years what it was, who made it. Finally found out not long ago, very happy to have found it so I can listen to it again.
To answer your question…it was used in the commercial introducing the new Mercury Lynx.
@@H2R504 Hello, time traveler! Yes, I've found numerous recordings of those very commercials on RUclips. I still love the sound. My first exposure to Vangelis...right along with his contributions to Cosmos.

@@H2R504 Yes his excerpt from "Heaven and Hell" and "Pulstar"...and more pieces. It made that documentary all the more a spiritual experience.
