Sounds good. It unique that the Niro comes with no battery, as well as a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic, instead of a CVT. All you people that say it's slow, it's faster than a CVT transmission. Jump in a Prius and tell me that that is slow. Also, it's a hybrid. It isn't supposed to be fast!!!!!
Exactly. Prius gas engine uses an Atkinson cycle instead of Otto cycle for fuel efficiency, and CVT for weight reduction. You want a P85D for ludicrous acceleration. You want a Prius to save gas (and localized) pollution. I'm looking mostly at cargo space and price on the Niro, not 0-100... it's the wrong tool for that job, but it's crisp enough to steer buyers away from the Prius.
@@shreddagorge the Niro engine is Atkinson Cycle too.

@@shreddagorge That's the part people are missing, th Niro is a hybrid car aimed to fuel economy, as a bonus it's kind of fun to drive from a stop, not so much going 120km/hr to 140Km/hr if you want to pass on the road. I really like mine given why I choosed it.
I tried the ioniq hybrid with Lyft and enjoyed it. Not a sports car by any means but it's the same powertrain as the Kia Niro with the six speed and it's fun. Great gas mileage. The little engine sounds nice with the transmission! Enjoyable car to drive. Speed isn't everything. If you know how to accelerate them they move quicker than shown in the video. I have two ford hybrids, the cmax and fusion, which are both very quick, and you need to squeeze the gas pedal slowly instead of all at once for full acceleration. It works
Always makes me laugh when people call a 10 second car slow - speed is not what it was designed for. Plus if you want to feel slow, take a 1.2 Corsa and try surging at anything under 3000rpm. Literally 0 torque.
0-30 on a public road in 3 seconds could easily put you ahead of a few cars that have a faster 0-60 sprint when filtering. My old 320d would have been beaten by this and I'd then have to sit behind it whilst is gets to 60.
My Niro tugged on a F-150 V6 Ecoboost at the light in the same manner, not a lot of non-performance cars going to keep up with the Niro through an intersection from a stop.
I think something is wrong with this one. My Ex GF/Roommate just bought one of the Graphite Touring versions. The DCT is very snappy in Sport Mode. It feels and sounds like it's trying to be a Porsche. Is it because the road is slippery?

Notice how it takes like one second for the engine to notice the pedal is through the floor
Yeah that really sucks - I notice that in a lot of modern cars and it's so annoying. The last Focus I drove had that lag too.
Asphalt8ficionado a simple tune can fix that
@The Car Enthusiast that's not how this works, that's not how any of this works! lol
@@tetebbb3536 how?
My Civic is about ten seconds to 100 as well but it doesn't feel that slow, this would probably be the same way, and I actually like the Niro.

Very slow - just wanted to make you laugh.
All action, no torquing... :D

fast enough, great cars.
No rev counter?
No Tachometer. I guess they figure it won't be reving that high.

Is there any display option to see the engine rpm? It's sister car Ioniq has.
No.

Slow as shit
Tony Montana exactly 😷
TOO SLOW
No you are thinking of a Prius
It's fairly peppy in daily traffic . The electric motor gives pretty decent torque at lower speeds . I have one and love it .
