I just loved your video, someone explained the sandwich the right way. I was getting so frustrated and almost gave up. Thanks again, keep the videos coming, us newbies can use all the help we can get sometimes.
Thank you for this informative and thorough video! I just bought a Sizzix Big Shot recently, and I've used it several times, but this video was great for explaining the basics and the different techniques I can use it for. I would recommend this video to anyone who is considering buying a Big Shot or the new owner of one.
Received a Big Shot this week and thought I had ruined one of the plates but after viewing your tutorial now am relieved that it is normal for a die to cut into it. Thank you so much for your very informative instructions. I am indeed now very relieved and can start to enjoy using my Big Shot.
I've been using the Big Shot for several months and your video helped me to better understand how to use the different products in it. Your voice is very pleasant and you explain things in an exceptionally clear way - easy to follow. I liked the storage ideas - my biggest problem! Trying to find a specific die makes me crazy!! Now I'm going to locate your blog. :-) SallyDee
Gosh! This was such a helpful video! You have no idea! I am so scared of buying such an expensive (at least in my book lol) product. I first wanted the cuttlebug but found out I needed to buy a "c" plate for the thinlits. Then I thought of the spellbinders but found s lot of complaints on it. Then I found this video. You explained everything perfectly! I know she won't see this because she hasn't uploaded in months. But maybe there is someone out there who is feeling the exact same way as I was. This video answered every single question I had. There is one other, but the person said um every other word. It killed me. Lol my biggest pet peeve in the world. Saying ummm and like too much.. Thank you thank you thank you!
Thank you so much for the information regarding the Big Shot and cutting dies. I thought I understood another youtuber but it still wasn't clear. You really make it easier to understand and my dies are already stored like you do. Will look on your blog for the rest of the storage info. Thanks, Eva Eckersley
I just purchased a Big Shot for Christmas. I am so excited, but also a little nervous at not knowing how to use it. You were great and your instructions were very clear. Thank you for the totorial. Much appreciated.
Thank you for making this how-to video for die cutting. You explained things very well. I was confused by all the different dies I hear folks talking about. I wondered if I needed more than one machine. Now I know what to buy. Many thanks!
Thanks a lot for the video! I am really relieved - I just got my big shot a few weeks back and when the dies made an impression on the acrylic mats after making a cracking noise I got scared thinking I broke them and stopped using it! Glad to know that's the way it goes! Two questions please - 1. I have seen a few kinds of mats available that can be used for different types of dies to avoid the marks. Are they useful? And if so, which one would you recommend? 2. Since there are so many dies in the market, I am pretty confused as to which ones to buy. According to you, which are the "must buy" dies to add to my new collection?
Thank You so much. I bought a Big Kick because I wanted the magnetic platform, which does not fit in the cuttlebug. I was confused on how to use the platform until I watched your video. Job well done.
Thank's a lot for all the information regarding the Big Shot and cutting dies!!! It's helps me a lot!!! I'm following you on Pinterest. See you there too. xoxo
I think she's saying Ikea rail. If you Google for Ikea's site, you'll find thin metal towel and tool rails you attach with screws to a wall or under a shelf, plus S-shaped hooks you can slip onto the rail. You can then hang the plastic bags she's using by putting a hook through the hole at the top of the bag. Searching Ikea for bygel should bring up a rail and S-hook set that would work well for hanging up dies.
oh, my! you did such a fabulous job of explaining it all! thanks so much! I've got a small cricut but keep wondering if I need a "regular" type of die cut machine. Been on the fence about getting one, and then about whether to get the Cuddlebug (which looks like it would store more easily) or the Big Shot. I have the Sizzix Texture Boutique for embossing and wish I had just skipped buying that and got a Big Shot or Cuddlebug....hind site is always great, isn't it?
Help. I don't know why my thin die stuck to my clear cutting plate? I followed the instructions and it is embedded into it. I am soaking it in water and dishwashing liquid but I really want to know why it happened or if this has happened to anyone else.
I am just getting started...I am very interested in cutting the shapes out with soda cans. Any help you can pass to me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
For thin metals like soda cans you will need to use the called Bigz dies from Sizzix, these dies are the only ones will cut metal like the can and cardboards.
Hi, can you please tell me why my cutting pads start to curl up after less than 10 cuts ... I keep using them but they just curl more and more... It's starting to get quite expensive buying new ones. Could there be something wrong with the machine?? Thanks in advance for any help...
First, I would try this: especially when the plates are new, I like to flip the plates over after every few passes so that they curl up and then curl back into place. This seems to break them in. I also now use one plate as the bottom plate (being cut in to) and the other as the top (always on the "pretty" side of the paper), and that extends the life of my plates greatly. When the bottom one has a ton of cuts in in and feels like it's worn out, the top plate becomes the bottom plate and I bring in a fresh one to stay on the "pretty" side. It IS possible there is something wrong with your machine, though. Are you getting a lot of resistance or cracking sounds when you're rolling your places through? It could be that your machine is a little too "tight" and is compressing the plates a little too much. That's an easy fix if you're using a platform with tabs (just take one off to lessen the pressure), but if it continues to be a problem, I would contact customer service. Hope this helps!
thank you so much for your quick reply and I will certainly try your suggestion about the tabs. I am already using one late for the bottom and a "no cut" plate for the top. Thanks again...
My Wizard broke, boo hoo.... I just bought the Big Shot and I haven't received it yet. I have been watching all videos related to the Big Shot machine. You were very helpful. I have a lot of stuff that I got with and bought for my Wizard machine. The mats for one. I have seen I can finally use my Fiskers embossing plates. Hurry up UPS guy. haha I got my money out of the Wizard.

Great information. Love my Big Shot! ~Tammy~
Help I have some silver plates that are very pretty(I thought they were for embossing but they are not ) so what are they for and how do I use them?
what they look like? Are they metal or plastic? do they have designs in it? give me some details, so I can tell you what you can make with them.
thank you!! Very helpful

Why not use a bigger piece of paper?
What its price
You are great, thank you, I give you an,A+++++
I believe you’re incorrect. The Cuttlebug won’t take all of the dies that the Bigshot does!
