Hi Patsy, Just wanted to let you know that if your dies ever get "dull" or you find that your getting more uncut threads or "hanging chads" than usual, take a few layers of standard kitchen aluminum foil and send it through your machine a few times. (This also works with craft paper punches, for those who are wondering) Something else you can do to improve the quality of your die cuts is to replace the top plastic cutting mat every once in a while. -Kevin Michaels Arts and Crafts employee
Hi Patsy, I found a couple dies at Micheals. Am watching your video to figure out how to "sandwich" everything. My daughter is getting married in May, and we are thinking of using the flower die I bought and cut flowers to decorate the tables. Thank you for all your encouragement. -Alice BCQuilter
Hello PaT, I am so excited that you have made video tutorial that will help me with my new toy! I just purchased the Big Shot and dies. Now, I just have to find the time to start my projects. You made it look so easy. Thank you for the information.
I love this amazing tutorial! One of the best on RUclips for any subject. Thank you SO MUCH for doing this. I already own a Big Shot as I am a paper crafter and have only just begun quilting (longtime home decor sewing hobbyist). It's an amazing machine. I knew it would do fabric but couldn't figure out how to use it exactly but now I do! Blessings to you and yours.
Patsy, I love your videos!! I have both your Craftsy classes and you're such a wonderful teacher. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge here on RUclips for people like myself. We're very lucky to be able to learn from you. I appreciate all the work you do to to educate and inspire us. Thank you!!!
Love this - I love my Big Shot and I've used it quite a bit for cutting fabric - even simple squares and scallop squares that I then use to quilt. I'm glad to see this tutorial!!
I agree what a lovely inspiring lady . Her you tube videos are so helpful , free and unlike courses you can watch them several times to refresh your skills etc thank you so much Jenny
Thanks so much for including the help with wonder under...I have had some trouble understanding how that works. NOW, thanks to you I understand and won't need to struggle any longer. How nice for this bonus inclusion!
Hi, have just purchased the Big Shot Thanks so much for your very comprehensive video! I have wandered away from quilting... but can now see the path back! :)
Thank you for your video! Enjoy watching have learn a lot from it! Just got my Sizzix big-kick last week I would be able to cut fabric! You'r a great teacher thank you once again for sharing,
Just Wow! Been watching your quilting videos for years and never saw this one. Anyway I’m making cards and just purchased a Big Shot and who do I see posted a video (long long ago in a …) oops got sidetracked there. Anyway, it’s Patsy!! You will probably never read this, but on the same day that I watched this video (only moments before) I got my awl your husband made to get out small bits from my templates after coming out of the Big Shot. As I tell my Husband, “There are no coincidences”. So our paths cross again and pray you and yours are well.
Hi Patsy! I am a card maker and I have the Big Shot as well as Tom Holtz's "vagabond". I thought I'd try and see if I could use dies other than Sissix. I used Spellbinders and QuicKutz shapes even my large alphabets, and it worked out beautifully. I'm so happy! Thank u so much for your tutorial. I didn't know that I could out six layers of fabric with the Sissix dies,
Thank you for your videos. I love your work and the fact that you make it look so easy. Just got my big shot and I can't wait to make this runner. Please keep sharing your great videos.
I have the regular Big Shot and the big shot plus. Both were given to me and I love them! I don’t use them that much because the steel ruled dies are so expensive!
@mehrnazkh It really depends on what you're going to use your machine for. If you're not going to be cutting any really large stuff, then the Big Shot (the smaller machine) would work great for you, but if you're hoping to cut very wide shapes, then you'd want the Big Shot Pro. I own both but can do about 99% of need using the smaller Big Shot machine. Remember, it can cut dies up to 6 inches wide x 25 inches long. Hope that helps, Patsy
hi petsy, i am so glad of watching your video. i am a scrapper booking .i have made many beautiful cards and mini album . i have bought many die cut sizzix and embassing but i have not bought sizzix machine yet. i am going to buy one .can you please help me to choose the best one? tusen takk
Hi Suzanne,Thanks for your kind note! Unfortunately, the height or thickness of Sizzzix dies is greater than the space through which dies must pass on both the Accuquilt Go and the Accuquilt Go Baby machines. Because of this, you can't use Sizzix dies on those 2 machines. I've been told that Sizzix dies WILL fit on the Accuquilt Studio system. You can use Accuquilt dies that are 6 inches or less in width on the Big Shot, and you can also use the Spellbinder dies. Patsy
@tooddie Hi! Yes, there are dies for squares, triangles, strips, circles, and all those "quilty" kinds of shapes. I use my Sizzix to cut all kinds of materials, like paper, cardstock, grungeboard, light metals, craft foam (to make fabric stamps), leather, wool, all kinds of felts. I haven't done it, but the company says you can even cut sandpaper! Patsy
Hi Eassa, You can use Sizzix dies on the AccuQuilt Studio, but they are too wide to fit inside the roller area on the AccuQuilt Go and Go Baby cutters. The fusible will help to minimize fabric fraying, but I would still stitch just inside the perimeter of the applique edge or finish the edges w/a decorative stitch to permanently tack them down. Patsy
I either do a very small blanket stitch or I stitch a straight stitch (in free motion mode) just inside the fabric edge. Either way, I always use a very, very lightweight thread in my top needle. (i.e. Invisifil Thread by Wonderfil Threads or Bottom Line by Superior Threads.) I talk about all this with photos on my blog. (you can get there by going to our web site and clicking on "blog.")
Hi Audrey, They're available anywhere that sells Sizzix machines and also in our online store. (RUclips doesn't allow me to write the name in my response but it's at the end of the video.) Have fun playing around with die cut shapes but be foerwarned that it's very addictive!
Hi Patsy, First, great job on the video! You and Ernie do a wonderful job! Question: Do you know if you can use the Sizzix dies on the Accuquilt Go? I loved the flourish and the flower shapes you used, but don't know if they will work with the Accuquilt Go. Thanks, Suzanne (A Fan)
Hi Patsy, just watched this and its very informative and well made. You talk below about stitching just inside the appliqué with invisifil thread. I wonder what happens when a piece like this is washed, do the edges of the appliqué stay in place? I always thought you had to turn under the piece to avoid fraying. Thanks.
Hi Linda, I use a very lightweight thread (Invisifil) and stitch just inside the perimeter of each applique shape on the delicate applique shapes. Patsy
Patsy I love the way you quilt but am wondering how you stich those delicate pieces down. I can see that you are using normal applique stitches for the flowers but what about the others.?
I honestly don't know the answer to that question, but my guess is that although it might be able to tolerate the high heat, the fusible would melt and bond to the parchment paper.
This is a great video which gives me lots of ideas cause I have a Sizzix. What I am wondering is, did you stitch down each applique piece and then quilt, or did you just quilt all over the piece to hold it down?
petmom ful Yes, how does that work? I've found that appliques w wonder under fray at the edges after laundering. The scrolls you could put a line of stitching through the center, but, what do you do w all those pointy edges on the multiple layers of flowers? I think we better find the follow up to this vid. Sizzix machines are awesome and I just learned that all this type of dies can be used in quilting etc and I thought they were only for papercrafts. I always skipped over them when looking for quilt dies. Kudos Sizzix!
Hi Patsy, I love your tutorial very easy to follow and you explain everything, I would like to make this project, but I cannot fing the Sizzix die for them, can you tell if they are still on the market , thank’s.
Hi Kathleen, This video was made many years ago and both of those dies have since retired. You can sometimes find them on ebay. If you are interested, I'm happy to sell you mine as I live in 2 states and have them in each sewing room. My email address is patsy@patsythompsondesigns.com if you are interested.
Hi, I was wondering if they had any dies that were square or triangle like the accuquilt go has to use for quilting? and would recommend this for just fabric quilting use?
Hello, i just bought an older style of this brand called the Accucut Zip' eMATE, It is still brand new. I am having many issues i've had it a few days & still can't figure out how to use it, i've used different machines, so i'm familiar with die cutters & embossing machines, but never had an older design like this one, i have the instructions & have followed them to a (T), I have the Zip' eMate with the item # as 2500420, it has it listed as i'd need to use a release foam over the blades for the very first time using the die cutter, i can't locate anything like this adhesive backed release foam anywhere, so i thought i'd do embossing instead & i put in the white platform 1st, then my folder with 1 cardstock inside, then as instructed i put on the black foam mat, it said not to use the embossing mat, i then tried to get it thru my machine by using the handle & it just wouldn't budge an inch, could you please tell me, what am i doing wrong, i'd appreciate any help at all from anyone here, thanks for taking time in reading this & stay safe.
Our company did design several templates that we offer for sale. You can create your own designs, but then have to submit them to a local or overseas company that makes/builds cutting dies. It is not an inexpensive process!!
Hi patsy. I have two questions. I have the accuquilt go cutter and was wondering if sizzix dies can be used with it or not. The other question is about the fabric. Does the fussible web keeps the fabric from threading away and no need to sew around it? Thanks
We sell them in our online store and you can purchase the Big Shot/Big Kick machines in Michael's, Joann Fabrics, AC Moore, and other craft stores that sell scrap booking supplies.
ruhma zainab wow! Can you order online? Sizzix.com? Do you have FB? Sometimes ppl on quilting or sewing sites in other countries will get it and mail it to you. Also, doesnt Ebay sell all around the world? These machines are worth their weight in gold. For example, Do you really want to cut 360 dresden plates by hand?
Hi Ayaz. I am not sure where you live, so I cannot tell you where to buy the Sizzix. It is availble from our online store, and the link for that is at the end of the video. Thank you!
The very thin Sizzix dies, called Sizzlets, are not able to cleanly cut fabric. The steel rule dies that Sizzix makes are the ones that are great for cutting fabric. Patsy

I'm wondering how you sew around the edges of those intricate designs.

I'm not at all familiar with that cutting machine, so I honestly don't know how to advise you. Sorry.
great information your the best
Thanks! You've made my day!
thanks for the tutorial
I will be checking this machine. Would be amazing if a person could create her own cutting templates instead of the ones that seem to be pre- made
Our company did design several templates that we offer for sale. You can create your own designs, but then have to submit them to a local or overseas company that makes/builds cutting dies. It is not an inexpensive process!!
I have had many custom steel ruler dies made. Just find a steel ruler die maker near you and give them your drawings!

Does this work with the wafer thin Sizzix dies or only the thick dies ?
This demo was done using a Big Shot machine! If you're asking if it can be done on the Big Shot Pro machine, the answer is "yes!"
Patsy
Can you do the same with the Big Shot machine?
hi i need this machine please advice me where i got this and in which prices??
We sell them in our online store and you can purchase the Big Shot/Big Kick machines in Michael's, Joann Fabrics, AC Moore, and other craft stores that sell scrap booking supplies.
You have anymore on cutting material
WHERE CANI PURCHASE IT IN PK PAKISTAN
