Have a rotten cold awake since 0430--nothing on tv THANK YOU BEST VIDEOS EVER!!!!Full of info given with positive -you can do this attitude!!Plan to share these videos with my quilt quild!!Keep up this good work THANKS!!
Thanks for such a well thought out video for us newbies at quilting. This has given me a positive attitude to 'go for it' and stop putting myself down for having a basic machine or not the right skills to achieve my goals of making a quilt for each of my five children. You are appreciated, Patsy!
Fabulous tips! I found you first through your free downloads of free motion stitches and I am delighted to follow it up with your tutorials. I have been free motion quilting for a few years now and feel like I'm getting better the more I practice. Thank you so much for all the great information and for your fun sense of humor too!
outstanding tutorial series .thank you for posting them .I am taking my fist free motion class in two weeks and now I don't have to go in blind .I think this will really help me to be more relaxed and able to learn and enjoy the class as well as the quilting .Thanks again !
I have free motion quilting for over 25 years and taught it in my fabric shop. wish I had had your videos to show my students. Not only did I learn some awesome tips you taught this old lady some new things too. You are an AWESOME teacher and the videos are so easy to listen to and follow. Thank You
I love your videos. I've wanted to try the free motion quilting, but didn't know where to start. You are concise, very clear on directions and very encouraging. Thank you so much for making these!
i have made quilt tops for over 20 years and only did stitch in the ditch for the tops I have finished, practicing with free motion & will be finishing 4 placemats this afternoon, I'm really thankful for being able to rewatch your beginner toots. The last 4 placemats I did some echo stitching around my embroidery motifs, that was a lot of fun and my Mother was thrilled to see that I crossed over my comfort level to work a new technique. I am 63 and ready to go to a new level. She will love these
I am new to machine. I love hand quilting however there are some quilts I'd rather machine quilt. The help you give in these videos has been AWESOME!! The BEST!
Okay, so you answered more questions than I had on FMQ...I have been looking for a sewing table...thanks for the file cabinets and door idea! I have been trying to find a way to trace patterns...and then you throw in the light under the table...so simple yet...you nailed it. THANK YOU! YOU ROCK!
Patsy I have just watched your beginners free form quilting 1 to 4. I have not done any of this so far and would just like to say how wonderful you explained everything you didn't rush but took things nice and steady for me to understand. I will now source supplies as suggested and cannot wait to get going, thank you so much. Maureen Palmer, Coventry England.
My Mom and Grama were both very talented crafters, knitters, crocheters, cross-stitchers, and my Mom was a seamstress for 50 years. I've dreamed of being a talented seamstress like my Mom, and I've always wanted to be a quilter. My sewing machine died yesterday and I'm going to buy a new machine. Watching your 4-part tutorial was inspirational and helped me in so many ways. I know, now, what I want in a new sewing machine, and I know once I get it that it's ok to take my time, to learn, to practice, and your gentle, encouraging manner is so helpful. I learned a lot from your tutorials. Thank you!
Patsy...You rock! I've been afraid to try free motion and drop feed dogs, etc. I am now going to give it a try. I'm excited...and yes..a bit leary, but with the test blocks, I'm going to make it work. Practice...practice and I'll practice till I get it right. thank you so much for the great beginning videos. I watch them over and over. Keep them coming.
I really enjoyed watching these four videos on FMQ! You gave such good tips and instructions and your sense of humor had me laughing out loud several times. I don't think I'll attempt to drink wine while quilting since I would probably spill it all over my quilt! LOL!
Thank you SO MUCH for the excellent videos you made on free motion machine quilting! I have never tried it but have now got the confidence to start trying it. You are such a great teacher, there are so many great tips and ideas you gave me!
I've just made my first quilt, and it's quite large. I practiced Free style quilting on a few fabric leftovers. They looked pretty bad. After watching you I can see that I really need to practice on small squares before tackling the large quilt. Thank you for all of the creative ideas, and your patience.
Finally some answers on how to manage a big quilt to prevent drag! Thank you so much Patsy. I love your videos. Very informative and at times entertaining ;-)
So funny, after the 3rd video hubby says, lets get to quilting.. then we watch this one. So glad we did. Alot of information... thank you for doing these videos. hugs barb
I watched the 4 videos in this lesson tonight and learned soooo much! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your humor. Now, time to practice what you preached!
thank you so much for your tutorials. I have been searching for some for a tutorial that would be more than 2 minutes long not one is as concise as you are-thankfully I came across yours. You're so informative and detailed, thank you again for the info on quilting, I am just beginning to quilt as I have been a sewer of garments for years now and I just am hooked on quilting(never thought I would be lol) Now I know it can be done &I don't have to spend the earth on a quilting machine :-)
Thank you so much for your time and gentle guidance for machine quilting. Struggling with large quilts is something I have done several times and I'm so glad to learn some of your tips for making this easier!!!! Great tutorial.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I am a new quilter and have been reading/viewing everything I can find for FMQ techniques. So far most everything has been all about materials, setup, posture and designs, leaving me trying to figure out on my own how to actually move the fabric and my hands. Your 4-part tutorial has provided me with so much helpful info in just about 30 minutes. I love the analogy of learning to write using a paper/pen, so along with simple shapes I thought I'd try quilting some letters to help me understand how to properly move the fabric under the needle. Can't wait to try some more - thanks again!
Patsy, First I must say thank you for putting these videos together.I have been quilting for years. However I am a hand quilter because I could never figure out how to free motion properly mainly because of the basting problems I faced. I will be buying 505 basting spray asap. Also the idea for the light under the acrylic table is fabulous idea! Robin
Thank you so much for these very clear and concise videos on free motion quilting. I just completed my first quilt top (40x40). I am looking forward to mastering free motion quilting, but for starters I will probably stitch in the ditch.
Thank you for all of the helpful & common sense information. These 4 tutorials have helped me tremendously & have eliminated many of the issues I have been having with basting & quilting. I appreciated your delivery & the encouragement. I look forward to further videos!
These videos are fantastic! I just had my first go with free motion quilting today and I already love it! Will keep practicing and watch all your videos on the topic.
I think you must be a very sweet patient person,to set up here and do these tutorials and explain away the life of a quilter in the process Thank you for all your time and patience.
Your tips are great. It has been quite awhile since I have quilted and love the way you bring a calmness to the process so let the fun begin AGAIN! Thanks so much
These are really helpful videos. The delivery is so clear, concise and practical. The material is presented slowly enough to follow and take brief notes. THANK YOU PATSY!
Now I am going to practice before I start my granddaughter's twin size quilt. I am retired and also have a PFAFF an Expressions 4.0 which was recommended by a fabric store owner. I have a cataract taking over one eye I can't get fixed until next month so I am going to use this time to practice. Good thing I have a lot of patience. Kaylee's quilt is lying on the table pinned together and will be soon taken apart. I do have a quilt basting spray. I chose your tutorial to find out how and where to begin my project and learned so much more. Thank you, thank you.
You’re the best, Patsy. So happy to have found you years ago and I remain one of your biggest fans. Your CDs are wonderful too. I have most of them. Learned so much. Thank you 🥰
Thank you so much for taking the time to teach us how to free motion quilt. I can't wait to build my quilting wall. Never would I have thought to use ceiling tiles for a quilting wall!! I found your video's to be jam packed with very useful information. Thanks again for taking the time to share with us your knowledge.
EXCELLENT VIDEOS!!! Extremely professional and so informative. I'm a beginner and I learned so much from watching your videos. I can't wait to put it all into practice. Thank you so much for all the great tips.
Thank you for a really helpful tutorial.i found it very interesting.also you are very easy to listen to,which kept my interest going all through the four tutorials!i am definatley going to give it a go.
Excellent series thank you. I feel inspired after always feeling quite afraid of FMQ. I will definitely give it a go. I feel I can follow your very clear instructions and advice. I already spray baste my quilts and would highly recommend this technique, not only does it save hours but it makes for a better qullt sandwich. Happy quilting everyone. Thanks again.
I really love your video's Nicole. I had my husband make me a table that my sewing machine fits into. Like your extra table however mine is covers the whole table top. I then covered the wood with the suppository metal I could find. It works great. I also liked the way you used the ironing board to hold the metal. These are great video's thank you so much . I'll keep watching .
I have just watched your four videos, and feel very happy because I found them. Very helpfull, great and wise instructions that I really appreciate! THANK you very much for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you soo much! This was just the sort of info I was looking for. I am hoping to make some quilted top pillows but needed some beginners tips. You explained everything very clearly, thank you.
Thank you for these videos! I actually tried watching some videos from other people, but found them difficult to follow. Your instruction is very clear and concise, with no distractions :-) I can't wait to start practicing machine quilting!
Loved watching your videos. You make it look so easy will have to practice a lot. Also will try the spray basting on the wall beats getting on your hands and knees. Thanks for all your info. Will look for more of your posts. Cheers from downunder.
I have been nagging my husband about putting an extension on my sewing table as it is REALLY, REALLY, SMALL. Now, I will just use an ironing board and tell him to hit the bricks...lol. j/k. Great tips and ideas lady! Glad I watched this vid! :)
I have watched so many "how to free motion quilt" videos and always came away feeling more confused than before watching them. Somehow your videos "clicked" with me and Iʻm off to make some sandwiches to practice on. Thanks for a great tutorial! Wish me luck!
Oh, I love you! I wish you could come to my house and help me with this. I am a beginner with free motion quilting. Your videos are very good. I can't wait to try this on a quilt after I practice, practice, practice. Thank you so much!
Patsy, these tutorials were delightful!! Thank you so much for sharing your know-how (and making them fun and encouraging to watch). As someone who has never quilted before, I feel great about trying! :)

I'm just starting out on a free motion quilt project so these tips have been really helpful, I will be practicing as you advise, thank you so much for your time sharing your expertise - I've subscribed so look forward to continued learning
Thanks! I have been struggling with my heavy queen size quilt so I am going to get the small table made to fit around my machine as you have suggested. You’re right! I have been getting very tired and I have also gotten skipped stitches because of the pulling caused by the weight. I’m looking forward to this solution.
I have watched all the videos that I can find of yours. Please make more :) I love the way you present your information for the home quilter!!!! Thank You
Merci beaucoup for these 4 tutorials. I love hand quilting, however it is enough long to complete projects. You are very encouraging for beginners in free motion quilting with home machine. You are the best ! many thanks from Provence.
I'm so glad I found your tutorials. I appreciate your willingness to share your skills and techniques. I will use the spray basting technique - just have to find a big enough wall space! I have pin-basted but moved to hand-sewn basting due to limited work space. Best wishes.
Thank you for this info. I just did a twin size quilt on my home machine and it was horribly difficult. I did roll it because I thought that would be helpful but it wasn't. And I probably need a larger bed. My machine came with one but it's not nearly as big as the one you suggested.
Thank you for making such great videos introducing free motion quilting. You've given me lots of ideas and I can't wait to get started on some practise sandwiches.
Thanks, Helen. I have to laugh when you ask what my favorite thread is because you would probably freak out if you saw my thread stash! Thanks for the terrific lessons. I've done many "sandwiches," and still need a LOT of practice. . . still not confident & don't want to ruin any of my quilts, even the small ones. Perfectionist, I guess. Practice is the key, I know.
Hi, Patsy. LOVE your videos on FMQ. I am a newby and have watched your "beginners" tutorials. Maybe I missed something, but, I did not see anything on thread and needle recommendations. I use Aurifill 50 wt for piecing, but, do not know if that is appropriate for FMQ. THANK YOU! You are amazing!

Patsy
Thank you so much for your informative videos. I also am new to FMQ and your videos have been so helpful.
Boy , I did my first on a large queen size. My goodness what a learning experience. Wish I had even thought of making little things.
Thank you for this info. I just did a twin size quilt on my home machine and it was horribly difficult. I did roll it because I thought that would be helpful but it wasn't. And I probably need a larger bed. My machine came with one but it's not nearly as big as the one you suggested.

Brilliant! Thank you for such terrific videos!

Thank you for making such great videos introducing free motion quilting. You've given me lots of ideas and I can't wait to get started on some practise sandwiches.
Thanks for all the great tips and techniques!
Thanks, Helen. I have to laugh when you ask what my favorite thread is because you would probably freak out if you saw my thread stash! I love many, many different types of thread and use a wide variety of threads. The main needles I use are Microtex Sharps, topstitch, and embroidery needles. If I could only have 1 type for the rest of my life, it would probably be a topstitch needle.
Patsy
This series was so helpful!
Luv your tutorials. Thank you. You have given me the courage to take this on!
Thanks for the terrific lessons. I've done many "sandwiches," and still need a LOT of practice. . . still not confident & don't want to ruin any of my quilts, even the small ones. Perfectionist, I guess. Practice is the key, I know.
SO very helpful. Thank you for all the tips, they are exactly what I needed for the issues I was having while trying to practice.
You are very welcome, Tamara, and I hope this opens up a whole new world of fun for you!
Patsy
Thank you for taking the time to post these videos! They are very helpful. I am a new subbie!
Very helpful advice clearly presented. You are a gifted teacher. Thank you
Great tutorial, very informative and your teaching technique is awesome. Thanks!
Thanks!
