  • Welcome to the Ghosts of International Airports Part 2!
    Fasten your seat belts and grab your passports again folks! We are off on a haunted journey!
    Today, we are going on a journey to look at the hauntings and stories at five airports across the world. Who is the ghost that haunts Manchester Airport? Is Newark on of the most active airports in the USA? Who is the mysterious woman in white and Madrid? Who is lurking in Hangar 85 at Sydney Kingsford Smith and does a choking ghost cause trouble in Honolulu Hawaii?
    Some of the stories focus on historic events and I hope you feel that my video covers the sad side of history in a respectful and honest way, without the need for sensationalising the past. Please stay tuned to the end to hear a small post script from me, Nicola, where I’ll share at strange experience that I had at Honolulu airport and we’ve got some menus and postcards to have a look at.

    Thank you, Nicola, for putting together these excellent videos. You're one of my favourite RUclipsrs. Decades ago, my mum and I often flew between Britain and America. I was 7-ish and recall the airport in New Orleans was relatively small and nearly deserted when we arrived. I noticed a man in a dark suit and fedora sat in the middle distance. His appearance was old-fashioned for even back then and out-of-place. He had a nervous expression. I recall feeling anxious just looking at him. Though I didn't see him vanish, after a few moments of distraction, as I looked back, he was gone. It's as likely that he was just a bit eccentric and not a ghost. But it was a spooky moment for my young mind that stuck with me all these years.

    Brilliant Nicola; luved it.
    Ghosts staring out of windows always does it for me. With loads of other interesting spooky tales too.
    Enjoyed the post cards. I look at the address and wonder who lives there now.
    You have certainly worked extremely hard pulling this beauty together, thank you.
    I have heard a couple of interesting aircraft hauntings.
    A Short Stirling heavy bomber from World War Two at an aircraft museum was investigated because sounds had been heard in the cockpit.
    The sounds were recorded by a team and it was concluded that the sounds were that of the bombers crew performing their pre flight checks.
    How cool is that, poor chaps are experiencing the pre flight fear of an up coming mission for eternity.

      Yes indeed that’s me at Honolulu and I knew I was coming back to crappy cold Blighty weather! I know, it was odd. I don’t know if whatever came in shut and locked the door as it held shut and with those metally cubicles the shutting and locking can happen in the same moment. The only other explanation is (to me) could someone have sat on the toilet seat, brought their knees up as in made themselves into a ball and been entirely silent? 👻🤔🙏🙋‍♀️

    Fantastic video! Those toilet ghosts sound most unsettling haha! One airport which always intrigues me is Denver international, there’s a lot of folklore and legend that surrounds it, worth a video all of its own. Also there is the famous blue mustang statue on one of highways near the airport which is reportedly a bad omen (it toppled over and killed its creator)

    • @ghostcasebook1266
      @ghostcasebook1266  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes Denver has some strange goings on. I wonder what you think but a lot of Denver airport seems to be about conspiracy and secret tunnels, weird links to organisations and its sprawling location. I know about the blue mustang and the sculptor who died but is the airport supposedly haunted or are the stories more about the airport’s function and operations behind the scenes? 🤔👻🙋‍♀️

      @@ghostcasebook1266 thanks for the reply! I think Denver is more to do with conspiracy theories and maybe paranormal rather than pure ghost stories
      But it does come across quite an eerie place!

    • @Mistydazzle
      @Mistydazzle 8 месяцев назад

      Good ol' DIA! That freaky, killer blue stallion, with red glowing eyes, just needs to go! I do know that its sprawling location is to do with anticipated growth. Like London Heathrow Terminal 5, DIA is laid out on a series of outgoing concourse stations, in a sort of horizontal, ladder rung like fashion. There is the ability to add more "rungs" further out to accomodate airport expansion. Of course, everything is interconnected underground - a good thing in a place with some possibly debilitating weather - there is even tornado shelter, which has been used when one lurks close by! It was also interesting that Denver's previous airport, Stapleton, had a runway over the Interstate (70), back in the day. It was right in the middle of the city, with no room for expansion! I always remember seeing the news reports, as a kid, when that airport got loads of snow. Now, that old site has been redeveloped for housing and business, with the old control tower left to commemorate its previous life.

    No ghost stories about airports, although back in the seventies, I was on what would be my second to last ever flight from Ontario to Los Vegas and we encountered turbulence again and again. I thought I was going to become a ghost! Thank you for a bang up job on hauntings at airports -- many of which I have never before heard. The one about the 14 year old boy was quite sad. At 14, you think you are grown-up, but you still think like a child.

      Turbulence is awful. I flew to Tokyo in 2008 and the turbulence was so awful, an overhead locker opened and a big bag of duty free spirits fell out and broke a little boy’s arm. It was a ‘is there a doctor on board?’ moment and the poor lad was taken down to the crew quarters. Easily one of the worse flights I have been on! And they lost my luggage and I had no belongings for 2 days! ✈️😞👻

    I'm sure you've heard of the hauntings that take place in old RAF and USAAF aerodromes around Britain. Jack Currie, a former bomber pilot, wrote a very good book named Echoes in the Air which details many of the more credible sightings. During the war, my dad had just returned from a sortie and was on his was to get debriefed when he and his navigator saw their friend crossing the grass to meet them. The man disappeared behind a group of ground crew. When my dad mentioned this, he was met with disbelief as the flyer concerned had been killed in action that afternoon and there was no way my dad could have known that.

    Nicola, slightly off topic - what do you think about ghosts and stairs. There seem to be a few stories about ghosts on stairs, and I have three; one from my father when he was in the army in WW2, one from my childhood and one as an adult. And I remember your experience at the Tower was on the stairs, as well. In your experience, is there a preponderance of ghosts on stairs?

    • @ghostcasebook1266
      @ghostcasebook1266  8 месяцев назад +1

      From what I gather, some ghosts are seen without legs because of floor level changes. With regards to staircases, some believe the spirits are between worlds, just like floors, but I don’t know about that. Some stately homes will install reclaimed stair cases that again cause ghosts to look like they are not on the earthly steps themselves that they used to walk up. But these are just things I have read about. I’m sure there may be viewers here with more ideas 👻🙋‍♀️🙏

      @@ghostcasebook1266 yes, my Dad's experience of being billeted in an old mansion was like that. The ghost walked down the stairs at night. My Dad was the officer and the men were billeted in another room. He was concerned bc they were getting frightened - and that's the last thing you want! He thought one of the men was tricking them and determined to put a stop to the joke. He had tried confronting the night walker, but there was never anyone there. So, he put talcum powder on the stairs to try and catch the joker. He waited up and listened. He counted 13 footsteps down, but there were only 12 stairs. Next morning, no powder had been touched. He asked at the pub and was tod that the staircase had been replaced years ago as part of repairs. It used to have 13 steps. Of course, now I can't remember where this old house was.....and Dad is long gone. How I wish I'd listened more closely to him. Not sure I think it's bc stairs are liminal places too......but it could be that.

    I had a customer that I had just sold a map too disappear in front of me. He was young, maybe 20, short, blond and stocky and going on a hike and thus purchased a map for that hike. He paid with cash, and as I gave him his change I dropped a coin, I bent down to retrieve it, and he had gone as I stood up. He never left the store as there is a electronic chyme if you walk in or out. I even walked out of the store to see if I was mistaken. He was not in the store, he he was gone. I was flabbergasted. He was solid as I had put money in his hand. I'm not sure we can call some event a "ghost", maybe a bleed over from realities that are going on just beyond our awareness. He didn't have a blank or lost look, he was a guy going on about his own life and business, he gave me real money, that was registered as a sell in the till and he took that map with him, where ever he went. How can that be a ghost. Another time I was getting in my car which was parked on the street and was watching a women walking on the side walk, across the street, coming in my direction. I looked down to put the key in the ignition, looked back up and she was gone and believe I looked for her because I had already experience someone disappearing before. She couldn't have turned off as it was a hedge. This is just another one of those things you can't explain. Start paying attention as you too may see the unexplainable

    Yay! Love it when you have stories to tell us :) I always look forward to them!
    I have my own story from Manchester Airport -- not paranormal, but a crazy coincidence. First of all, it's important to know that I'm from a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada and there aren't a lot of people who travel abroad, except occasionally to warmer climates or to the US. I had just finished a five week journey through England and Wales, and was at the Manchester Airport at about 4:30 in the morning, walking to my gate to fly home through a sparsely populated hallway. As I was walking, still half-asleep, a woman passed me going in the other direction and I thought she looked an awful lot like a former teacher I had back in middle school. I kind of just shook my head and kept walking. About a month later, back home, I was running errands when I saw my former teacher in a parking lot and went over to say hello and tell her the funny story about seeing someone who looked like her at the airport and -- you guessed it --- it WAS her! So strange to see someone from a small town for the first time in about a decade, in a nearly-empty airport, thousands of kilometers away on another continent!

We were living in the San Diego area at the time, and on this trip, at a certain tourist spot in Wisconsin in about the middle of the country, I just happened to bump into some old neighbors of ours who were moving to the East Coast.

      In the Summer of 1992, my husband & I got off of a train in Florence, Italy & walked to the main front area of the station. Who was there? My fellow student, from university, who had just happened to be in the same station, at the same time! We were all from the USA, so the coincidence was remarkable. She reminds of this serendipitous encounter, every now & then. It was surprising.

    There's a probable reason for self-flushing toilets - we have them in Auckland Airport and some of the mall bathrooms too, and they are triggered by a sensor on the wall when you get up to leave the stall. Sometimes the sensors play up and trigger for no apparent reason. The maintenance plumbers hate them....

    • @ghostcasebook1266
      @ghostcasebook1266  8 месяцев назад +2

      I know the kind of toilets you mean. We have them at Gatwick if I remember rightly because they always make me jump when I get up and you can just wave your hand over them to activate them. These ones had a lever system and I don’t know what they have now but there was a need to actively flush these ones. 👻🙋‍♀️🙏

      @@ghostcasebook1266your story was sooooo creepy! You heard them come in but they’d have left so fast suddenly ….trust me I get it….your brain tries to grasp something that makes no sense….I’ve had several haunting experiences but most were at a VERY haunted house we lived in when I was a teen. One of my moms best friends was a VERY firm non believer in the paranormal. The kind that would scoff and laugh at it.
      One overnight there and he was a lifelong believer 😂🤷🏼‍♀️
      But I saw actual saw 2 apparitions there and I know how rare those are. I’ve heard plenty of ghost stuff and felt it …..but seeing it is another thing!

    I really enjoy these stories. I think the paranormal is extremely interesting. I lived in a 1960s housing association house in Staffordshire and we heard banging on the top window, and when my mum died it stopped myself and my brother heard her voice calling our name. It was very odd.

    Great video, as always! I had a similar experience to what you had in Honolulu. For me it was in Charles de Gaulle. I just heard spike heel shoes walk by my stall toward the back, in an otherwise-empty bathroom, then nothing. No stall door, no TP, nada. Seemed really odd, so when I exited the stall, I looked - all stalls were empty. Although there was no doubt another bathroom with cement/linoleum flooring stacked upstairs, the sound I heard was sharp and echo-y, not the slightly muffled, non-echo-y sound I would expect to hear if it were upstairs. (Used to live in a dorm set up like that - I know what it should sound like.) No clue.

      That’s creeped me out even more! How odd. Yes, that similar to me - the person I heard didn’t sound like they were wearing heels but I definitely heard them come in. The only explanation I can give maybe is that they sat on top of the toilet seat and brought their knees up into a ball perhaps but even then, I think I’d have heard the movements right? I know I laughed in the video but it freaked me out a bit and it sounds like you had a similar experience for sure. I don’t think I looked too freaked out in my photo though 👻🙋‍♀️🙏

    This gave me the hair raising! I was a world traveler and passed thru many aerports. The one in particular that will never leave my mind is the infamous Daniel Inouye in Hawaii. I was enroute to Holiday in Oahu and stopped in a loo to wash up. I was reaching for a towelette and the stall door behind me swung open. I looked up and heard footsteps. That was the start of a strange holiday! 😮

      @@ghostcasebook1266 I wonder if the area is built upon Hawaiian ruins? Another odd event happened- I encountered an old woman in white, walking with a stick in her hand, on the side of the road. Puzzled and concerned, I pulled over and asked if she needed to go somewhere. I was respectful, just worried about her being struck. She said yes and got in. A few moments later, I asked where she was going and no answer. I looked in the back to see it empty. I later discovered I had encountered Madame Pele and did the right thing by stopping! 😱
