  • Welcome to The Ghosts of Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London.
Some images are for illustration only.
*I apologise for the late release of this video. This was due to a fault with Apple, not YT*
Today, we are going on a journey to look at the beautiful, but incredibly haunted Theatre Royal Drury Lane. This is probably the most haunted theatre in the world. Who haunts the upper circle? Who lurks in the wings and dressing rooms? Does a ghost give actors a kick up the bottom if they’re not at their best? And why was an actor murdered by another actor many years ago? Theatre Royal, Drury Lane is a very haunted location indeed!
Some of the stories focus on historic events and I hope you feel that my video covers the sad side of history in a respectful and honest way, without the need for sensationalising the past. Please stay tuned to the end to hear a post script from me, Nicola, where I’ll take a look at some extra stories and some theatre memorabilia that I have, as well as a menu from a long lost London hotel.
As always, I hope you enjoy these stories from Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Feel free to leave a comment. Thank you so much for your kind words and comments. They mean so much to me. Please feel free to Like and Subscribe to the channel.

I love waking up Saturday to find fresh ghost stories. I only knew of the Man in Grey, all others were new and interesting to me. I only recently learned of Joseph Grimaldi, someone inferring he had something to do with the disappearance of his brother. A well done video indeed and after your reading of the menu I must search out breakfast.

I'm watching this 3 days late as I was saving it for when I could sit and indulge for a while. I am glad I did, I love all your videos but this one is my favourite so far. So many witness accounts of ghosts in such an incredible setting. I have been the the Theatre Royal and was totally unaware of it all until now. You have such a flair for creating these videos...I love everything about it. From your wonderful soft voice and narrative to the little extras such as the menus and postcards. Honestly, in the world of youtube videos this is up there with the best I've seen.

A thoroughly satisfying and pleasing video-certainly one of your best-at least that I’ve seen so far. Thank you!
A good many years ago I was ghost-hunting at a small but very old college in Tennessee. I wandered into the empty theater stage one night with my voice recorder. They say all theaters are haunted, and I got a vibe fron the backstage. I asked alaud if there was anyone there-could you tell me your name? When I played the recording back, I heard a voice shouting “Joe” very clearly. This puzzled me til I asked some faculty that had been around a long time. They told me that Joe Lowrey had taught theater there for many years and had been a very troubled man-before his death a decade earlier. I think I heard from Joe, shouting desperately at me from another world.

I'm a Thespian as well as a musician and the college I attended has an auditorium haunted by Madame Nordica, America's first diva. I've heard odd noises in that auditorium while alone there. I'm not the only one who has been creeped out in Merrill Hall's Nordica Auditorium, either.

This was fascinating well done GC!
    ..
Quite nice to have a lot of history/ghost stories condensed into one video.
    Interesting yet poses some questions.
    ..
In regards of the grey man, perhaps his remains are somewhere in the grounds of the theatre hence the regular reappearances..
& who dat skele belong too🫣 creepy.
    ...
Past actors haunting their favourite dressing rooms is understandable...
But in the case of the clown Grimaldi, touching stage actors, that for me is strange.
    ...
Is this proof of life after death, or is it just a cheeky entity?
    ..
I'm also not entirely sure why past actors would want to haunt a place they loved working in.
    ..
In the case of las vegas, there seemingly was good and bad energy/people that created good or bad situations.
    ..
One might assume working on stage to be a happy place.
    ...
I guess some professions are more competitive than others & this may bring out the best or worse/competitive streak in people.
    ..
Loved the post script, menu sounds fascinating,
but I'd be happy with bangers & mash lol.
