I agree with your assessment 100%. Tasting notes were right in line with my experience. I get KC9 at 31.99 every day in Texas. Easy choice for me. Always picking up the next bottle of KC9. I guess that's why my last bottle of ER sits on the shelf unopened!

Dude the Zebra stripe gum reference was a great comparison for ER 10. I think KC 9 is way more developed than Eagle. Excited to try KC 12 sometime soon. Cheers 🥃
Knob blows eagle rare out of the water. Now if ER was still 101 proof it would be a better fight but still believe KC is better. I did get four bottles of ER when on vacation in Louisiana and it was 30 a bottle so pretty good price. It is my favorite out of the lower tier BT bottles and Blantons is in this group. Now with KC the single barrel is much better than the 9 but I still get the 9 for a less pricey drinker. I have several single barrel bottles as back ups. Enjoy.
That proof would definitely help but KC just seemed to have a bit more going on regardless. ER has a place if you're finding it $45 and under.
I like them about equally, but I'd give the nod to KC9 as well...
That said, you can't really blind these two bottles. Pretty easy to tell them apart.
Eagle rare is a nice change of pace from KC9... but not worth going crazy hunting... and (In PA) Eagle Rare @ $35, KC9 @ $42 and Rare Breed @ $50... I'm taking rare breed as the best choice... but all 3 are good and worth owning if you get a chance.
To be fair, it’s not finding a copy cat but just who’s better. Buffalo trace is tough to take down especially at SRP. Would love to try ER at 100 proof and give it a better chance. Like you said, all those bottles have places on your shelf
