Always watch at 1.5 or even 1.75. Absolutely LOVE Kurt and Trent - they're by far my fave whiskey channel - but the guys talk too slow and include a lot of fun but irrelevant stuff. So I get to listen to their superb bourbon intelligence in a reasonable amount of time. 😂
If I don't watch it all now, I'll watch it later. At just over half an hour, this one's about perfect for my lunch break, but if it went on longer I'd just finish watching it after work or tomorrow.
I think he grew up playing in a trash dump. Always saying this one smells like an old moldy paper bag or this smells like rotten asparagus. This one tastes like chewed bubble gum that you find on the bottom of your shoe. This is definitely old mattress that aged in the sun 🤣
Whiskey aside for a moment, I agree with Kurt about not caring for the new country music. Give me Wille, Waylon and the boys! And throw in a tumbler of some of that Sagamore Double Oaked!!
Plenty of good modern country, you just have to look past the super popular stuff. Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson, Charley Crockett, Jason Isbell, and Hayes Carll are all great
@connorwilson4799 You are probably correct about that. For current music I lean more towards bluegrass like The Price Sisters, but I just love good music....and bourbon....
Thank you to taking your time with this one. I am a double oak "junkie" and have or have tried many of the ones you had in this blind, especially the Sagamore Rye! I paid about $130 for the Peerless DO Rye and love it but still would choose the Sagamore DO Rye for two reasons: 1) I love it, and 2) it is half the price of the Peerless! FYI - The Peerless DO Bourbon is still selling for about $83 in San Antonio, TX when available.
It is so much fun to watch y'all. 😍 20:06 Y'all take however much time y'all need. If I wanted videos that rush to the end in just a couple of minutes I wouldn't be here. 🙂 28:07 I would've thought that uncontacted Indians in the Amazon jungle would know who Willie Nelson. There are people who've never listened to country music in their lives who know Willie Nelson. Next Trenton'll tell us he's never heard of Hank Williams. 😱
Absolutely LOVE the longer videos. Especially when you guys are enjoying yourselves like you did in this video. So great. Happily surprised on Sagamore’s score. Love that bottle !!! Please keep up the great vibes. Cheers
A fun blind! Enjoyed all the nonsense. Perhaps that bottle of Peerless DO was left on top of the trash can or on Trenton’s back seat for a few days? Can’t believe it was last. In some respects it’s a blessing. It’s hard enough to find a bottle. Imagine if it came in first
@@caninedivine that’s unfortunate 😩 Makes you wonder about mishandling at the store or in shipping. Perhaps it was a rare bad batch. Sorry to hear you got a clunker bottle. I had been searching all over for a bottle. I ended up finding a bottle while on vacation (at a grocery store!) and had to rearrange luggage to get it home under the weight limit. It’s a fabulous bottle. 108.4 proof Cheers
Just picked up a Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. First time having and first double oaked. Dessert in a glass. Really fun getting into Bourbon, beer being our wheelhouse of course! Cheers gents 🍻
i did a double oaked blind with peerless batch 10, starlight, nulu store pick and woodford. the peerless was a clear winner for me with woodford 2nd pl followed by nulu. the starlight just ran harsh against the rest. i have the peerless batch 13 now and will be the test again to see if the order changes.
Definitely do not apologize for your video length/time. Also I’m a new subscriber but a long time Bourbon enthusiast. I’m pleasantly surprised to recently find a RUclips channel that aligns with my interest in great American Bourbons. Thanks for your input. I love the backdrop and would love to hear what bottles are behind you guys.

Love this blind fellas & big fan of the channel! Kurt was spot on with that 2XO bottle when he mentioned the rye notes.. It does have a high rye mash bill.
Super happy with this video. I love double oaked products, but I know of so few of them. Hoping to hunt down some more :) The Peerless Double Oaked is, in my opinion, very good, but $20 too expensive. It has some great tasting notes, but it just doesn't have the push I want out of a $100+ bottle. Peerless do have a double oaked rye that is fantastic. Highly recommend if you can find (and afford) it.
I’m on the same page as the two of you for the most part with 2XO. I’ve tried three or four of them and have not been that impressed, with the exception of the innkeepers blend. Really love that one…enough to buy a back up. Not surprised you guys liked it today.
I’m interested to see how the ceiling cam works. For me, adding the bottle images helped to follow this immensely. I’m not surprised on peerless. Very tannic, especially on the finish
The Peerless is the only one of the flight I’ve had and I thought it was fantastic. Very rich and flavorful, if that finished last then I need to have the others
I was at a bottle share a little while ago and had Peerless DO for the first time. Back then I said it wasn't as good as the Woodford DO, especially at nearly double the price. So this doesn't surprise me much. I am pleasantly surprised at the Sagamore taking first!
I toured the Sagamore Distillery for my last birthday, where I tried the Double Oaked for the first time and immediately fell in love with it. I'll echo the thought that it gets better as it sits, the nose too. Already on my 2nd bottle since January, hope it does well on Friday.
Video wise - the longer the better! I’m here for you two, and the whiskey is just a bonus. Plus, Trent and I are very much cut from the same cloth, so the more tangents he has, the less I feel like a psychopath
Great video! I can see the Toasted and Rye maybe overtaking the Peerless, but please do a short blind of Peerless vs 2XO before using the results... just to be sure that perhaps the blind didn't change the palette somehow - maybe the rye made the 2XO taste better right after, or the Wheel Horse made the Peerless taste worse.
Not normally a rye guy. Watched this episode last night and coincidentally stumbled across a bottle of the Sagamore Spirits Rye Double Oaked today. It is fantastic! Probably would’ve never bothered with it otherwise so thank you for content that helps me broaden my horizons. 🥃
Started watching your blind tests. Enjoy you both. Only problem is where do you get your whiskeys from? I search Total Wine for some of your tests and they are never available in New Orleans
Never had peerless before, went to the distillery earlier this month and was surprised by everything I had. Picked up the double oak rye and it what’s phenomenal!
Don't worry about the length of the video, we'll always watch to the end. The videos are definitely worth it, I'll be picking up the Sagamore soon. But, I thought Kurt said there wouldn't be ads during your videos? I had to skip through multiple...
Sipping the Breckinridge Double Oak watching this. It's harder to come by outside of colorado but it has a great smoky caramel flavor. If you can get one it is worth trying!
I did a tasting at Peerless distillery earlier this week and really liked the double oaked. I ended buying a single barrel bottle from them that was just awesome. All their stuff is higher proof and very small production. I highly recommend giving them a try.
Kurt, I knew you were a Southern gentleman at heart despite not having the accent. Your appreciation for Willie simply confirmed it. Have y'all considered doing a round up of Tennessee whiskeys, meaning actual Lincoln process whiskeys, not necessarily bourbons made in Tennessee? Keep up the great content!
I definitely agree the Peerless DO is overhyped. Got my bottle and given it a bunch of chances, but beyond a kind of muted interesting dark chocolate and way over oakedness I don't get much. That Sagamore DO though....! So good. Gotta try the 2XO still.... Great video guys. Trenton, I challenge you to just use freaking culinary terms to describe smells and tastes. I'm still waiting for you to say something tastes like outer space at some point lol.
20-30 or so minutes is usually perfect for me. If you go longer or shorter by 5-10 minutes I will never mind and will watch it all regardless. Loving the new graphics too - double oaked bourbons are the bomb.
I have determined that my tastebuds align much more with Kurt than with Trent, I usually go out and buy what Kurt likes and that works well for me. I love this channel!!!
Sagamore Rye DO is SO GOOD... I'm not surprised it came in first. I have been a fan of all the 2XO releases, and happy to see it in this line-up. I have been hunting for the ASW Fiddler Toasted for a while - ever since I had their Georgia Heartwood, and still haven't had any luck. Peerless DO just doesn't have the distribution to make it out to California, but I have been hoping against hope to come across one.
Nice blind! I’m 63 next month and I used to get chocolate shakes with double malt many years ago:) Sagamore double oak is really nice! I also really enjoy my Art of the Spirit double oak! I haven’t had a Peerless that I’ve liked yet:( Cheers!
The Sagamore Double Oak was an absolute banger for me. Loved it from beginning to end. The Peerless.......I am currently trying to love....but shes making it tough! And the 2XO I haven't opened yet. I'm more happy sipping on double oak offerings these days than a "finished" product. Cheers and great review!
Gotta agree, neck pour is very real. Every whisk(e)y differs in terms of how much they change after opening up, and how long it takes to really blossom, so there might be one here or there for whom the neck-pour vs a nicely opened pour may not matter as much. But man it's real. Drives me crazy when a channel opens a bottle and judges it on that first pour. It's just not fair. So thank you for not doing that!!!
@@nitoxys2564 Hmmm . . . never heard that theory before and I'm honestly skeptical as the environment plays a big role in whether alcohol or water evaporates first. Famously, alcohol evaporates before water in Scotland, whereas the opposite happens in the Southern US, which is why older Scotch almost always have lower proof than older Bourbon (which actually get stronger with age). The leading theory is the effect of oxygen on the whisky (oxidation). Perhaps oxidation causes a reduction in alcohol concentration? But I'm not sure . . .
Not related to the DO video, but just sippin' on some Redwood Empire cask strength. Did you two do a blind of the Redwood Empire series? If not you two should. Cheers
Ok since you keep talking about the length, in some situations I really prefer the long videos. Sometimes im at work with my Bluetooth in my ear listening to y’all and long videos help. Other times i might be sitting at my home bar wondering about what i want to pour when i see your videos. Sometimes i can pour what you pour, but most times not. All times are fun. You do you. Dont let anybody tell you how to freedom.
I, for one, am not concerned about video length. I'll watch all of it.

I don’t care what they’re talking about. The longer the better. 35 minutes of slb to start off my day means it’s going to be a good one.
THE LONGER THE BETTER
Another fantastic video guys, and I particularly enjoyed the tangents, keep em coming!
Every time Trent says something like "I've never eaten a _____" or "I don't like ____" I can't help but wonder what kind of childhood he had LOL

That's because the proof must lower once opened and the alcohol evaporates.
But I'm not sure . . .
@@skramzy6628 I don't believe a word of what you're saying here
@@magickmarck I gotta admit, that's an erudite, informative counterpoint. It's making me question my years of experience to the contrary.
@@skramzy6628 cheers
Yes keep the video length up if you like. The more off the cuff the better.
So glad I’ve passed on the Peerless; too pricey!
Trenton you are NOT living. No shake. No shake. Whatttt!!
"ooo, that does not look like a thumb." 😂
Fellas, you need to try Oak and Eden bourbon. Holi moli! It's my second fave next to Woodford Double Oaked.
I'm curious. What camera and mic option do you guys use? I love the quality.
Of course the Sagamore came in first. That bottle is spectacular
I like the longer videos 👍🏻
What batch was the Peerless DO? Maybe Cory can add batch/year info on the bottle pics he posts?
Not related to the DO video, but just sippin' on some Redwood Empire cask strength. Did you two do a blind of the Redwood Empire series? If not you two should.
Cheers
Ok since you keep talking about the length, in some situations I really prefer the long videos. Sometimes im at work with my Bluetooth in my ear listening to y’all and long videos help. Other times i might be sitting at my home bar wondering about what i want to pour when i see your videos. Sometimes i can pour what you pour, but most times not. All times are fun. You do you. Dont let anybody tell you how to freedom.
