Sweden 2024-05-18: Packrafting Fuluälven (Fulan) 2/2

After 5 days of snowshoeing across the Fulufjället plateau (using our packrafts as pulkas), followed by 2 days of packrafting on Görälven and 1 day on Fuluälven, we return to where we left off to paddle a second and final stretch on Fuluälven.
On this second stretch, we put in just below the Strupen rapid and paddle to the hamlet of Åsbo. Initially, the river is calm and easy. Afterwards, we reach a long series of rapids known as Silderhällorna. The rapids consist of a series of wide "steps" with small drops. The intensity of these rapids is less than Strupen yesterday, however unexpected currents sometimes do cause surprises.
After Silderhällorna, the river gradually becomes flat. The take-out across from Åsbo is not evident to find, but eventually we do get it right and we subsequently hike back to Strupen via deserted forest tracks. We spot a polar hare and a viper of around 60 cm.
Total length of the trip is around 30 km.
