For me, the best part about Dexter is the inner monologue and knowing what Dexter is thinking inside.
Same thing with “YOU” it’s makes you reason and at times feel/ feel bad for a serial killer. Almost like you can relate. These 2 shows do a phenomenal job of that.

It's a great way to display novels on screen. Sex and the city also had the inner monologue.
You're right, the inner monologue/voice is just genius, even better because of the creative way they presented it through a character, in the original dexter series (season 1 to 8, Harry was his "inner voice", his dark passenger, the one he was always having these conversations with...) and I really loved how they perfectly brought back an old character now in Dexter: New blood through the same dynamic but with a different dark passenger... It makes sense how he kept it together for many years... thoughts and advises weren't the same. Great show, Michael C Hall was perfect for the role.
@@evelynvela5698 exactly! I think it connects Dexter with audiences. Even though Dexter is not my number one favorite show (3th or 4th i guess), he's place is much more special than others. You know how he feels, thinks. And he became a part of how i think. And i love how he is not thinking so stupidly, otherwise we wouldn't feel this way. I absolutely love funny goofy scenes like how he imagines appreciation and makes fun of the people who he was about to kill 🤣
He has aged well.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. He looks so so good! What is the secret? Kinda uncanny how he seems to have de-aged. I think this is a gift of a phenomenal actor.

Dexter is my all time favorite TV show and I love Michael C. Hall. I watched a movie with him about a man breaking in his house. It sounded great but really wasn't. I guess I expected him to handle it like Dexter would. There's also a show set in England about his daughter going missing I didn't really care for but other than that I think I've liked everything he's done.
I just now started checking out his band and it's funny you should mention a Bowie tribute cause you can hear the influence in Michael's music clear as day! I really hope there's good footage of the tribute floating somewhere?

I searched for other shows which are interesting and closer to dexters but I didn't find any. This show is an epitome of thrill, suspense and the characters it self. Best show I have ever watched in this genre.
Yeah, exactly, the only thing that is in the dimension of the first 5 seasons of Dexter (and now, NB is looking pretty good too) is probably Breaking Bad.
Watch a show called You, or Hannibal there both kind of like dexter in a way but there both good shows in there own way.

Michael C Hall is a talented actor. I enjoyed every episode of Dexter, including the orginal finale. New Blood was awesome, even though that ending upset me, objectively it was great and poetic.

I think that's how they wrap up dexter. He's done some pretty bad things and a moral society calls for a consequences.

Awwww nah man, the ending was Great. It made me cry so hard. Dexter never did anything the easy way or the way you'd expect him to and that's his charm. I'm highly anticipating this return to Dexter 🤗

I had no issue with ending of original show. I thought it was completely appropriate. But it is nice to see the life his character built for himself in all these years, and of course to see him reconnect with “Harrison.”
I don’t mind what they did. Deb dying and Dexter peacing out of Miami is a logical beat to end on. The storm was a bit crazy though. It all could have been written better with more respect for the journey the characters went through. Thr notion that the writers just got tired toward the end feels like it makes sense.
I agree, I think it was fine that he relocated and wasnt caught then. It makes sense with how most killers in real life arent caught until well into their late part of life. but maybe could have led that in a different manner. Glad to have the show back.
the ending instead of being in Oregon that he was in a hospital in a coma and they said omg he woke up after 10 years then end it that way they didn't have to close the door

I was totally satisfied with the Dexter finale, it had to go that way, he wasn't upposed to live happily ever after. Debra's fate was heartwrenching tho.
I think it was more that the last few seasons kinda sucked. It was like they ran out of ideas. I think I stopped enjoying the show somewhere in the middle of Season 6.
@@lorigoshert6667 Yeah, it should have stopped sooner. Dexter boating off after losing everything was fine. It was what happened with the main characters from s6-7 on that irked me. I kept watching, but I was angry the whole time.
The finale bothered me because I felt like Dexter should have died, I think that was the best possible ending
@@lorigoshert6667 Definitely a part of the problem they had was what I call the Buffy Effect: how to make the next season grander, with more intense threats and perils to keep viewers not only interested but engaged. It was a show that went from realistic to almost Hannibal like in its absurdity, stretching reality to the fantastical. I think the fan outrage of the finale was over the top and extreme, but I get some of their points when it comes to the later season's plots in terms of the main villains.
I am one who thought Dexter needed to be caught. But that's only me, I think.

Honestly for me dexter first 4 seasons were phenomenal. What an amazing acting by this guy, huge fan. But my hopes are low for new blood, will wait and see. But first 3 seasons though, for me, forever will remain as one of the best experiences watching something - awesome music, cinematography, one-liner dialogues, acting, story every god dang thing was awesome.
Honestly I found Rita a bit irritating so when they got married it slowed the show down somehow and made it not as good. I still really enjoyed the whole thing.

I'm sad that Hannah's gone but in fairness to Yvonne, she plays a hated character in The Handmaid's Tale now too. So being hated in Dexter as well as that now may be rough on her career TBH. She's a great actress though.

He IS Dexter Morgan. Like, he plays the character so well, and I think stems from himself so much that it's almost as if Michael C Hall is just an alias or pseudonym for Dexter Morgan.
The first 2 episodes have definitely redeemed the show from the last series disappointing finale. Will enjoy seeing where they take the story this time. So far, sooooo good❤

Just finished rewatching all of Dexter, and then New Blood... I'm genuinely stunned at how good New Blood was! It was super stylish, and the way they handled his inner dialoge with Deb was fantastic... they took advantage of the creative opportunity of visualizing things that aren't real. I don't feel there should be a Season 2 though. If anything, a whole new show, but Dexter should be considered concluded... UNLESS Dexter played the part that Harry played, and then Debra played...now Dexter can be the imaginary voice of morality and temptation.

I love Dexter. I was hoping for happy endings for him and Deb, but I felt bad for everyone involved in the show when some fans got nasty about it.
Dexter didn’t deserve a happy ending. That’s the thing. He was a serial killer. Yes, he killed using a code, but the kills were less about him seeking justice and more about satisfying his lust for killing. He got exactly what he deserved. I’m still annoyed about how the Doakes situation. People hates Doakes because he was a challenge for Dexter but his instincts about Dexter were SPOT ON. LaGuerta’s death was tragic too-she didn’t deserve that. Doakes’ family had to wear the same of him being the Bay Harbor Butcher when he wasn’t.
Deb’s fate was sealed when she killed LaGuerta and she did so for selfish reasons.

I will always be confused by the backlash against the original finale. I think that it summed up the character of Dexter and the arc he went through or the lack thereof in a poetic and justified way
Exactly. Some people have no imagination. They wanted a cliché ending showing him being lead away in handcuffs? He was “almost caught” so many times it would have seemed boring. To me, it was completely appropriate that he lost the most important things to him and pulled himself away from society. So for me, I don’t watch this new series for a different ending, I just want to see what he has been doing in all this time.

I wasn’t expecting the show to be as good as the original but it is very good. My only regret is that certain characters are missing. A lot of fans hated Hannah McKay but I loved her. She had Dexter’s back.

@@takeuchi5760 Yes, we would. Actually, Harrisson could be lying, he could have killed her, maybe she never had cancer (Dexter didn’t check). But she could as easily have been alive, it doesn’t change the story at all. He could have ran away for plenty of reasons. We don’t even know if he’s really be in the foster system. For all we know he could have killed her 2 months ago and is on the run because of that.
Highly disagree, it’s very slow and they drag out dexter killing and investigating other serial killers, the new season is way to slow!!!

I was pumping gas at a local station in April and noticed snow around the pumps. I looked up and saw Christmas decorations all over the adjacent diner and remembered it was the set for Dexter! They were gearing up for a shoot, trucks and people maybe 500 feet away. That fake snow sure looked real.

All of a sudden I think I have to rewatch Dexter original again, wow what a series
I've been binge watching all the previous seasons all week in preparation for the start of New Blood tonight. As much as I LOVED the original series, I actually discovered some glaring mistakes/bloopers that they (writers, directors, editors, etc) didn't catch while filming. Of course, in a story like this, I guess you just have to give the writers a certain amount of poetic license to further the plot. I'm looking forward to tonight!
What mistakes did you catch?
@@alouise2186 I wish I had written some of them down, because I don't remember most of them. I just remember thinking things like "that doesn't fit", or "wait a minute". You know what I mean? Anyway, one example was when Lundy & Debra were shot. They (the police) were attributing the shooting to the tourist shooters (the guy & his girlfriend). Not once did anyone mention ballistics! I mean, that's one of the first things they would have looked at, right? Immediately they would know that the ballistics didn't match, and that the shootings were unrelated. It's stuff like that I'm catching this time around that I didn't catch before.
BUT...I want to add that I know I'm being too analytical, which I wasn't the first time around. I still love the premise of a serial killer "taking out the garbage", as he says.
