Two of the most likeable chaps on the internet. Nothing as charming as hearing a grown man talk like a child about a bike - all the enthusiasm in the world. Love it.
Here's the thing..I would get on a Gladius , it 's reliable fast, did everything very well, smooth, a well thought out and put together machine with a great motor.. I get on my monster, which for all it's faults, and it doesn't have too many, and it's an Event.. the noises from the termi's, the way the bike urges you to get on it, the poor handling and engine vibration under 4000, then the satisfaction when you hit that speed where everything comes together, and the bike demands your full attention.. it's that riding Event and satisfaction that it's Japanese counterpart doesn't posses. Nothing wrong with a Gladius, great bike, looks good too, but where Suzuki endeavors to insulate you from vibration and incongruity in the road, Ducati somehow fuses the rider to the engine, suspension, and road.. that feedback formula through the chassis is something they haven't messed with, and as any rider will attest, is more acute than anything on two wheels..
Is there actually only going to be 500 units forever? Or will you people make a few every few years? Cause it seems pretty dumb to call a super limited unattainable bike "the dream".
'That's my phone telling me to exercise I'm fat. It does it a lot' Utterly brilliant! Get this chap signed up. Never thought someone could make 44 teeth better but....
I never tire of listening to the sheer enthusiasm that comes from people talking about these incredible machines. I spent most of the video just staring at the Panigale in frame but listening to every word, the enthusiastic way of describing it gives you an idea of what it's like to be in the saddle, not everyone can do that when they talk about a bike. Fantastic stuff once again lads!
I really enjoy the channel. Light-hearted, really informative and technical without being high brow. TV could learn a lot from these guys. I watch this in my lunch break and the world is good again. Thank God for bikes and the people who ride them (well, most of um)......
You know what I love about 44teeth it’s just real bunch of proper lads having proper chat no trying be something else, can see everyone at ease fair play lads keep up love it 👍🏼👊🏼
Great work 44 Teeth always putting out the best content for motorcycles on the internet. This bike is outrageous, I laugh every time he says 234 horsepower is “usable” lol. The thing that really struck me was he explanation about his experience on the Ducati WSB bike. Having a serious rider saying it’s pretty much unrideable gives me even more appreciation for any of the riders in the field. Those boys really make it look stupid easy especially when the bike is literally trying to kill you.
I don't know how I could mentally come to terms with a bike like that. I think if it was cheaper it would be easier to ride. You could push it harder and actually take advantage of what it can offer. Seems like people would just baby it as is
@@eaglewi Yes, fair point, which is why most Honda RCV213SP (£150,000) are still in the crate. I was at Mugello on a CBR600RR, able to pass Desmoseidici riders for that reason, but at least they were on track, having fun. I suspect that the Superleggera is much faster, ten years on, so even a steady lap would be far quicker than any regular road bike can do, however enthusiastically ridden.
I can appreciate that the onboard footage isn't crazy wild or absolute pro level. It's a pro rider trying to get to grips with the undisputed cutting edge top level machinery that today's industry is capable of producing and he's having a hard time utilising it properly. It's like you can see how hard he's trying to understand how light it is. Very entertaining.
Absolutely loved this discussion & Chad's enthusiasm in describing the bike. Good banter as well. As mentioned, my biggest worry about having such a machine would be stacking it.
My dealership in the UK has sold 3, saw it at the Dealer Conference last year and they had one stripped down as well so we could pick up the individual components it was a fantastic experience!
Awesome sights, sounds, descriptions, emotions to explain how lucky the fortunate few will be. The rest of us can replay this vid over and over. And, who doesn't like gravy, sweet 🛴🚲🛵🏍😂👍🌈🌏💜
Great interview. What a thrill that must have been to be invited to an event like that. I can't imagine many Superleggeras will ever get a number plate and even fewer will ever go to a McDonald's drive-through. I look forward (hopefully) to the 44teeth test ride.
Sounds very special indeed, obviously beyond the reach of mere mortals, but the way his eyes light up talking about it says it all. What a thing, thanks 44T as ever :)
It would be an interesting line up. I personally think the Ducati would take it. Only based on new electronics, winglets, and more power. It would probably be close though that hp4 is quite a machine.
I would love to see this match up as well but I think the new V4 would take it. If I remember right they thought the 1299 Superleggera outdid the HP4 race, and they are saying this one out did that one.
Can't see many if any publications putting the two together and going balls out and timing them. Risks are just too high and insurance would be crippling/bordering unfeasible.
He mentioned there being 2 bikes on track and 5 Journalists. Methinks Jensen Beeler from A&R was out there ripping it with you! Can’t wait for the 20 minute rant about this thing on @BrapTalk
Amazing bike I'm sure but as the owner of the first 1299 SL on the West Coast of the United States I can say the SL is NOT an investment; it IS an amazing bike for sure and getting the opportunity to ride Mugello especially on the World Superbike was incredible but I flew all the way to Italy and got a total of 12 laps on track between three bikes: stock 1299S, followed by 1299 Superleggera and then Marco Melandri's Panigale R World Superbike. I considered selling my 1299 SL to buy the new V4 SL; the dealer said my 233 mile example, in otherwise showroom condition, would probably only be worth 55k (USD) in the open market. That's a 25k loss in 3 years! I said no thanks, keeping it for the time being. These guys are right when they say the Superleggera models do feel special. Oh and btw, the Ducati hype about the V4 SL being 16 kgs lighter is comparing the V4 SL with its included full Akrapovic race exhaust vs. base model bone stock which has no carbon anything, lead acid battery and heavy stock exhaust. The REAL difference in weight is closer to 11 kgs.
I am not a Ducati man, but this one I would own, if I had the money of course. That even makes it special attracting people that are not brand enthusiasts. Stunning bike!
Had a proper laugh at this interview, and it was informative in a way i could understand. More of this man if possible please 😅 quote of the day. "It's like having Dani Pedrosa in a set of leathers sat on the front of your bike"
No offense to Adam Childs, I am sure he has tons of experience. However, I wouldn't call this a review as there was no factual information conveyed, he couldn't convey how the bike handled or how it braked, there was nothing for us to compare the differences to.. I respect the fact that he was sharing his feelings after riding, which is why the video can be considered as a "first impression" but not as a review!
@@mikefandango3343 No one asked for your opinion, I am sharing what I feel as a subsricber so that he can improve his channel! If he understands my feedback he'll implement it otherwise he wouldn't, in any case it's none of your concern!
Hole Lee SHEEEEEET! that sounds ballistic to ride. I think my 1199 is pretty quick most days but you have to have some serious experience to ride that bad boy competently. Chad sounds like a proper lad as well.
Indeed, less than 2min the lap is racer fast. Last week at Mugello there were just a couple of riders under 2min out of a full set of pit garages, probably more than 100 riders. V4Rs were common but no Superleggera sadly. Phil Seaton was fastest, often.

Love how Chad is like a kid describing how it felt to ride it.
"4th and 5th for me" lol burn
"Yeah well I'm doing 190"

One of the best interviews / reviews yet. Now even I want to go to „Port-uh-mayoh“.

Chad totally fits the 44 sensibility... love when he’s involved...great vid

Nice one gents! Lol! Laugh a minute this one!
Thoroughly enjoyed this chat! Seems like Chad's talking skills were rather under-utilized at MCN or the Superleggera has made him a better speaker :-p
Ha, that onboard footage really does give some idea of the speed and weight of the bike, it’s so agile!
Incredible turning. Also, great gyroscopic camerawork helps
Amazing how quickly it changed direction
Chad is a fucking legend!!!! Watching him from way back on MCN got me into motorcycling
It is sick how it leans ... I swear it looks like it is parallel to the ground in some corners!
Great to hear from Chad. Top bloke. Top bike. Top interview. Top interviewer.

This has been a properly entertaining episode lads! Loved it.
Just FYI the CIV (Campionato Italiano Velocità) Qualifies at around 1.52 seconds for the mugello, so quite a bit lower than 2 minutes
