OK I am trying to piggy back the Monitor off of my HDMI TV I bought the VGA adaptor to HDMI for the monitor and plugged in the HDMI cable, just a note the VGA is a female end HDMI I don't think that makes a difference because like you said I don't want to waste a good monitor, so I hooked everything up and as I thought I would see the same picture that I see on my tv on the monitor and I was wrong no picture, I ran a HDMI splitter off the TV I wonder should I be running the splitter off the cable box ? I just realized I did not do that I wonder if it will work then what are your thoughts,
I have the same problem right now. I bought LG full HD monitor like 4 years ago, and I did not realise that it only has VGA port. And first problem I had with it was that my GPU had only DVI and HDMI ports on it, so I fixed it by getting one of those small VGA to DVI adapters, and it's working great. But yeah, right now I want to get a newer GPU and what I realised is that new GPU's only output digital signals, while VGA is analog, so I need one of these active adapters. So yeah, I got one for few dollars off Ebay, and I was wondering does it really work? I don't want to get a new GPU just to realise that I also need new monitor. I was just wondering because one of my friends was in the same situation, and he just got another monitor because of this.

for audio, is it possible to just connect small speakers straight in, or do they have to be powered by something: hence why you went with the bluthooth speaker?
VGA does not transmit the sound so the speaker must be connected to the computer. The speaker can be connected wired or wirelessly depending on I/O or hardware.

I also got a samsung syncmaster but I got the 223bw which I think is actually older but anyway it's 16:10 which I still don't understand where that is used I mean I had 2 16:9 monitors at one point but one broke down (half a year ago probably) and this is the only option that I had to replace my main monitor (the one that broke down) asap and I mean I'm still using it it's fine but 16:10 is just weird I'd love to know where 16:10 is actually being used

Yes you can. It’s just the opposite of what I explained in the video, just remember the adapter needs power so don’t forget to plug it in to a USB port.

If you have a standalone sound card there is no need to connect the audio aux on the converter correct it can connect directly to the sound card.

Did you buy the powered adapter like is listed in the description? If the adapter is not powered by usb it will not work.

I've tried connecting my laptop (HDMI) to my LG monitor/tv (VGA) and it doesnt seem to be working. My laptop has been able to connect to other hdmi displays and the monitor has been able to connect to other vga sources but I don't have any other ways to check if my laptop is the problem or if the monitor is just incompatible. the issue isnt the monitor itself but the laptop isnt detecting it as a second monitor. (it's pretty old - flatron m203wa)

Sure, that’s no problem. What you need is Vga to composite adapter or it’s also known as vga to RCA. If you search Amazon for that you will find many options. The convertor should only cost about £/$10-£/$15 👍🏻

Sooo I have a few questions for you. I have a pc screen and an xbox that I would like to connect to it. I would use the HDMI out on the xbox run straight into the pc monitor. How do I then connect the monitor to the wall electric. Do I use this adapter to run it into the wall from the pc screen or not
The monitor will have its own plug the hdmi adapter needs power too but it only needs usb power which also can be from a plug or another source which accepts usb.

USB is powered by a mains plug or from another source just as you can charge your mobile from usb but To simplify it and make it as easy as possible......yes you would need 2 electrical plug sockets.

Connect a micro usb cable to the hdmi convertor and the usb end to the usb charger port of your PS4 and it’ll work.
Hi will the quality of the picture change? like - will the quality be closer to what you will get on pure hdmi?
The quality is equivalent to 720p on my monitor. My son is really pleased with it. I have mine set up with his PS4.

I got another HDMI to VGA from another seller. IT WORKS !!! I able to connect my old VGA to Blu-ray player !!! Only thing, concerned blu-ray movie, there are black bars at the top and bottom of blu-ray movie, it totally steal away any immersion experience.

If it’s screen mirroring you want them that is a lot easier with an Android phone. Many android tv boxes have that functionality built in. Google cast is another option. I need some help if you still reply. I plugged in the VGA cable to the VGA to HDMI adapter and connected it to my ps4. My ps4 was on and my monitor was powered up and connected to my monitor so it works. My problem is, my monitor still says "check signal cable". Do you know any solutions to this?
It needs power for it to work. If you check out the link in the description for the one that I used in the video you will notice that if has a micro usb slot. This is vital and needs to be used. I just plug it in to one of the USB ports of my PS4 to power the adapter and it works great.

That’s the exact same as me. It’s a hdmi to vga you need. You will also still need the original vga/vga cable too.

Yes. My monitor has no audio port. The adapter has an audio port which you can connect to external speakers.

Only if your monitor support that resolution. I can achieve a resolution which I would say is the equivalent (to the naked eye) of 720p.

Is the cable vga to hdmi? Or hdmi to vga? Those work differently, right?
It’s hdmi to vga and make sure you get one that you can power it to either a wall socket or usb socket. The way to remember is what is the source that you need to convert? In our case it’s the pc or PS4 or set top box which runs an hdmi connection and what we are trying to view that source on which has a vga socket so you search for hdmi to vga on Amazon.

Yes, all you need is an hdmi splitter. I’m not sure if you can get one that splits vga and hdmi thou.

I'm trying to connect a game console to my vga monitor I have the exact same adapter and the exact same monitor and I get no signal just the blinking red light on the monitor

That’s the issue for me. If I don’t power my adapter I get no picture. I just plug it in to one of the USB ports. It’s midi usb (the same you use for the older android phones and Amazon firesticks)
@@StuTech Mine is just a vga to hdmi adapter with a headphone jack no port for power or anything I'm assuming that's what my issue is. I'm gonna look for one today I'll let you know what I find thanks!
