I remember when Bulu Mata and Rieke were born at the respective zoos in 2015 and eventually made their way together to Monkey World. Both were so adorable! and that was the first time I had heard of Monkey World. There was a video shortly after they arrived at Monkey World made by Alison and another keeper for an update, and they both looked like they were such characters even at that young age, especially Bulu Mata. He was actually starting to laugh. It was that series of events that caught me up in the orangutan plight and the respective rescue and rehab centers. I have been addicted ever since. Thank you all at Monkey World for sharing your incredible work and stories. You are all simply brilliant (catching the English phrasing).
It's sad to see that you have been deceived by the fake dramatizations that these fraudsters have created for your "entertainment". You should support real conservation efforts by those who truly care about animals.

I feel like Brass and Elvie are some kind of "mico" monkey, also known as Silvery Marmosets. They are most commonly found in the south of Brazil and north Bolivia.

Can someone explain to me how they say at the beginning of every episode that they're the biggest in the world at 240 monkeys and apes, yet Nyaru Mentang, which does the same thing, has over 400 orangutans alone.
I think the distinction are the number of species represented at Monkey World, but that's just a guess. I wish the BOS foundation would do videos like these. The TV series, at least where I am, is sporadic. I love the Orang Jungle School vids, and want to know what's going on with Beni and the rest of the gang!
Nyaru Menteng specifically exists to prepare orangutans to be released to the wild whenever possible. It is a school. Monkey World focuses on keeping primates comfortable and in as natural an environment as possible, but they are still always going to be in captivity. It is a sanctuary.
@@pamcunningham9608 Yes, obviously. Monkey world is also involved in the European Species survival program. The orangs and wooleys and other primates at MW are in captivity, other than the location in Viet Nam, but they have safer lives than living in the wild, and they are contributing to the endangered species survival programs. Additionally, they have secure and healthy food sources, excellent medical care, and are not in danger of losing their habitat, as they are in Borneo. I don't buy anything with palm oil. Do you?

You aren't qualified. You're not an ape either. So the answer is I don't think so, no.
The little baby orphaned Orangutans, should be turned over to an Orangutan Rehab. They will raise them, teach the all the survival skills they need, and 8 years fown the road, they are released back to the wild. Orangutans are endangered, so they should be rehabbed where possible.

Why these people at this sanctuary do not allow the little small orangutan to be in the corridor between the two rooms and give the hopefully Surrogate mother a chance to see it being some sort of distress and want to jump in and help it I don’t know!? They say they want another animal to be the surrogate mom but they give no other mother there a chance to even consider it. They never leave it long enough, we’re talking by a long shot! That baby monkey is not going to die in one day. Let it sit there and Street for a while and maybe she will come and help it and take control. But they never give it a chance to do that. If it shrieks for one second they wouldn’t take it away. These people like Ito raise monkey babies. All that wanting them to surrogate is just a front

Orangutans nurse their young ones up to 6-8 years. Chimpanzees around 4-5 years. Bonobos also up to 4-5 years. Gorillas around 3-5 years and humans wean whenever they need to or want to.
