I've had more updates on Linux than I ever had on Windows with a rolling release. At least I can update it when I want instead of being dictated to by MS.

I don't mind Windows updates provided I can update it when I choose to - not when MS decides I should (which is normally when I'm busy doing something). But you really need to keep a Windows OS updated due to the inherent security flaws. It's a shame you can't do just security updates on it though.

Windows updates only come out once a month. The 2nd Tuesday of every month. I don't understand what the issue is.

I have Windows 10 and usually the updates are useless anyways, they just offer you to update to Windows 11 that I don't want to do. They are just annoying and I don't need to be harrased to update, if my WIndows works, why to update... no need. It would be better if you could just update when you need to do so and not them harrasing you to updating. Well atleast we now have that 10 year option. =) I hope it is in Windows 10 too.

Depending on your setup, they can simply break your system. Updates can brick your OS on rare occasions or create unstable conditions which is a lot more common. MS has also scaled back its internal QA testing of patch, preferring to let the public do it for them. So often they will release a patch, then realize its bad, then put a freeze or call for a rollback. So a lot of us just get used to simply keeping them off and patching manually outside normal patch windows. This lets you see if it breaks for everyone else first.

@@holan5041 You are right. This is the exact reason why people have lost trust on Microsoft and it's Windows updates. No fear to update month or few later since atleast you are sure that it wont break your system.

Some people don't trust M$, myself included. In fact I'm running Win7 on one my laptops without any updates for years, using for daily browsing. Not a darn thing happened, no hacks, no nothing. The brainwashing of companies that you must have the latest version is a bunch of BS.

I have updated the ally, no problems so far.. except that latest amd graphics (with the fluid frames stuff) totally destroys forza motosport and other titles.

My PS Portal games runs circles around your NSwitch.. Full next gen AAA games on a handheld.. But the games are for adults mostly so if you want kiddie games, stick with the Switch.
