For video the X4 is great. I found using it for pictures awkward and didn't like the results but I didn't do a lot so maybe there is something there but I use my phone or the Sony A6700 for pics.
Great job, great intro. Congratulations! I have exactly the same feeling on my X4 vs my former X3. I drove around France with the X3 on my Tiger 1200(see my channel (subtitled) if you want)but the quality was poor when mixed with my other cameras footage and I sold it despite the great versatility this camera had. Having a trail was giving me so many hooking possibilities that I preferred having more action cams hanging around and better quality . But this year, I changed for a Goldwing to road trip with my wife and the fact is that it’s a nightmare to place a camera on such a bike. Back from Corsica, I bought the X4 . Quality is still not as good as any GoPro, Dji Action, but it’s improved and at least, I’ll benefit from its ease of use. However, Indon’t like the fisheye effects and tiny planet stuff, so I always try to frame as close as possible as a normal camera. You got a new subscriber . ps: I also use the Falcam F22 lock system which is great and quick. I do recommand. Cheers from France. ✌🏼
Bonjour, I speak french so I will definitely check out your channel. I agree it's not the same quality as other action cams but it's now very close and usable. I don't cringe every time I cut to the X4 like I did with the X3. I have hope maybe the OneRS gets an upgrade closing the small quality gap.
It is the SmallRig Super Clamp topped with a FALCAM/Ulanzi F22 Quick Release mount for Insta360. It's a thinner version of the regular F22 mount so it doesn't get in the shot.
@@oleksandrzrazhevskyi5843 it’s very solid and does not move at all. The F22 mount is also great with zero movement or vibration. I use the F22 mount on both the stick and arm and quickly move it from one to the other.
Very very nice review. And your from GTA, that's even better lol, nice to see Toronto Maple Leaves cap on you. Also were you on the 404 going south during the highway footage lol, looked familiar. Liked & Subscribed with notification alert. Lastly, with your video review I'm more confident on purchasing the X4. Time to move on from my GoPro Hero 7 Black.
Great video, liked & subbed. I've been using an Ace Pro and swapping it between pov helmet cam and selfie cam. I want to buy an X4 for its versatility, but I'm leaning towards a second AcePro because the lens distortion will bother me. So my question is, is it possible to reframe X4 selfie cam footage so that it's comparable to the Ace Pro footage in terms of lens distortion? I've uploaded some test footage shot on the Ace Pro (unlisted: ruclips.net/video/hjDm0sBu4JI/видео.htmlsi=UicgSp8ienU4dyau ).Thanks, Jon
Basically anything in the centre plane of the lens will be normal and like a normal action cam but if you move the lens in the software up or down that is when the distortion happen. Also zoom amount increases or decrease the fisheye effect. To get more technical the camera automatically fixes on the horizon, on that horizon locked part of the image it will look like a normal camera but if you reframe up or down that is when the horizon bows or fisheye effect becomes noticeable. Let say you are shooting yourself from the bars like the video you linked. When you frame the shot in the software, because the camera is lower then your eyeline when you reframe the shot to place yourself nicely in frame it will bow the horizon but you can zoom in and things will look more normal but resolution starts to worsen. It's a game with this camera with framing and resolution retention. So to answer the question, yes you can totally get a normal looking shot with the X4 but your camera placement is very important to get that look. Hope that helped.
Thanks @@AlexUlleri for taking the time to explain how to work with a duel lens to get the shots I lean towards. Very helpful. I look forward to your next video (maybe on this topic)?! Cheers, Jon
Everything Alex said is spot on. The x4 shines in quality only when using max fov imo. Zooming in things get soft and pixelated quickly compared to Ace pro.
Thanks for confirming @@andreas9119 I'm leaning towards a second Ace Pro because my sub conscious brain values image quality over 'reframe' versatility and the fun of a duel lens. Cheers
The vast majority are watching on a phone so not only 4k but 1080p is well enough. The files are getting bigger and bigger. What's next - 16k, 32k or 64k? LOL. You also can bump up the resolution and the bitrate in the post if needed. You can increase or decrease the lighting in the camera. Gesture - if you waive to a passing rider, can you stop or start the camera :)? And how do you know if the camera is on or off if it's out of reach?
There is a blinking running light on both sides. 1080 is enough on its own but stands out in a mixed footage situation. The files are crazy big though. I’ve never had the camera stop because I waved to another rider. 🤣
Everything was funny and captivating until you showed up next to Harleys atrocity of an adv bike… But all jokes aside these adv bikes are mounting points galore for action cameras… Good stuff my friend ride safe
That atrocity is an awesome bike. You’re right about mounting points, so many. Unfortunately today I dumped the bike and punched a nice dent in the side panel with my small rig magic arm lol. Battle scar.
Thank you for this review. Give a lot of insight. Good to see ordinary landscape images for a change and not just the tricks the camera can do.
Thank you, means a lot. Cheers

what is the mount do u use on 6:55 min?

@AlexUlleri how safe is smallrig arm? I have something similar and it's not good with the vibrations, I broke my x2 coz of that
I bought x4 and it's much heavier, I'm afraid to use it
