Lu. Cre. Hulk. Battleships. All I wanted was a lucrehulk battleship. I definitely feel like the only reason Armada didn't take off as much as it could have is because iconic ships weren't released regularly
Yeah... I feel Lucrehulk was the one key ship missing for the Seps. I wouldn't even care if they scaled it smaller than its canon size - I'd be happy with a large or a huge version of it.
I think now with Skeleton Crew there’ll be more interest in pirates. I think a pirate faction would be cool, especially since X-Wing already had multiple factions.
Thank you for all the videos you have and continue to do for Armada. I got into Armada because of these videos and have always relied on the information you share. I will keep dreaming some studio will bring back Armada!
I like your idea of adding NR ships to the Rebel faction. Make it similar to how it was in X-Wing First Edition. Add the First Order to the Imperials, the Resurgent class Star Detroyer and the Mandator IV class Siege Dreadnought would have made excellent minis allong the MC85 Star Cruiser. While this would have been hard to balance and make unique ships - especially if we´re talking squadrons (but that´s an issue for a different video!) - it would have enabled these smaller factions to still see the light of day. On a side note: The battle of Jakku takes place in 5 ABY while Mando season 1 starts 9 ABY. Ahsoka is even later than that. Thrawn returns after the Empire wiped itself off the map, so the Defender class would be newer than the Republic Starhawk.
I don’t think Legends ships would have been too unlikely. In the last year or so they’ve “remastered” the original Battlefront games, the *actually* remastered Dark Forces, and they are porting Episode 1 Force Battles to PC on Steam. It wouldn’t have been too far fetched to me to think FFG would have added a dual faction or even completely generic Dreadnought Cruiser, the Dark Hammer with Dark Trooper upgrades, or even conversion packs for using Republic and Imperial ships cross-era.
Trident class as some kind of offensive flotillas would have been nice to see for CIS In general, I feel most sorry for all the beautiful and versatile ships the seperatists could have had...
I loved all your choices, but i love in particular that your top three were my top three i was hoping for. Thanks for keeping the flame alive for Armada!
A multifaction pack is a cool idea. I don't know if there was enough ship content to mine for a third faction, but there certainly were enough characters to work with.
Here is my idea how cloaking could work. You get three bases with IPV-2C Stealth Corvette and three cardboards for it marked with numbers 1 to 3. On the begining of the game you secretly select marker with number 1, 2 or 3 and place it face down on ships card. That marker will be reveiled when decloaking the ship. Then, in the deployement phase, place all three bases, one after another, on the playmat within the rules with no restrictions. When you decide to move that ship you move all three bases. When decloaking, show the number on the marker on ships card and place a ship on the base with cardboard containing that number, remove the other two bases from the playmat. When cloaking again, remove the ship from its stand, secretly place marker 1, 2 or 3 facedown on the ship card and move the ship from its position with all three bases. If any bumping occur, player must reveil if this is the base of the ship with the same number as token on the card or not. If it is, place the ship on that stand and remove other two bases from the playmat. If it is not, just remove that base from the playmat.
Or, if you target the ship while it’s cloaking effect is active, you must role a red dice at long and medium range, and a black dice at short range. If you role accuracy or miss, you fail to detect the ship and cannot engage it. If you roll hit or crit, you can exhaust their cloaking ability and attack like normal. If the ship attacks or overlaps an obstacle or ship, the cloaking ability is exhausted.
Love the video. I would love to see a video (maybe limited series?) On how you would design a specific ship and/or squadron. Many thanks for the continued content for my favorite game!
After seeing the X-Wing video, I knew an Armada one was coming and you did it justice. I might have changed the Lucerhulk for the Subjugator, but that's my opinion.
I think some new open faction that allowed pirates to function would be in keeping with the modern Star Wars universe. There are a growing number of pirate ships and mentions of multi ship pirate fleets.
So many ships, too many to count. Could've easily done a Scum and Villainy faction with Keldabe Battleships and Crusader Corvettes from Star Wars Empire at War. Of course, multi-faction dreadnaught cruisers, the Lucrehulk, and so many deep lore ships that could've been brought in like the Secutor, Allegiance, and New Class ships like the Nebula SD. Armada had so much potential...
id have loved to have seen the republic get an arquitens but there was a ship in the animated clone wars the 2d mini series ep 1 time index 52:50 a transport built on the chassie of the charger C70. id have loved to see that in armada.
When I first started watching your stuff I wanted to get into Armada so bad, but then I found out it was ended and I was super upset. I was about to go all in on legions and armada
The lucrehulk battleship is my number one favorite, the donut of doom. I was also hoping for an official MC-80B Mon Remonda and Bellator Super Star Destroyer.
Eta-2 and V-Wing with the LAAT and Republic Attack Shuttle. Republic expansion box. Low hanging fruit not too hard to balance with everything else. Some External Boarding shenanigans would be fun with Jedi and clones!
Why not a pirate/ Non alligned faction? Most GAR, CIS, Rebel and some captured Empire Med/Small/Flotilla/Sqns could be brought together. There are a lot of independants in the outer rim, why couldn't a charasmatic leader get a fleet together?
I agree having some non aligned faction ships would have been great. Especially when it comes to a lot of the ships from legends like the Dreadnought Class
Man, I like the Anakin rework lol. Something Republic struggled with was getting reroll mechanics without using expensive upgrades for, anakin fixed that to a degree. Old Anakin just had you use the Venator even more than it already was. New Anakin let me make a heck of a good fleet using the Acclamators and getting to use the swivel mounts without missing out on rerolls.
9:23 The Battle of Jakku happened in 5 ABY, around a year after the Battle of Endor. The Mando and Ahsoka shows are taking place around 9 ABY The Defender's are newer then the Starhawks, and in fact seem to be the replacements as part of Mon Mothma's push for less New Republic military.
How about the Eye of Sion, could be modelled like a hyperdrive ring in X-wing, would go around an ISD, but can operate on its own also correction, Ahsoka plays 4-5 years after Jakku, so Starhawk was earlier, but your point still stands, both New Republic ships
I would love to see a squadrons video! Also 1 ship I was hopping for in the future was the Geonosian Corvette also known as the Huppla Corvette. Could have been a small separatist ship, more nimble than the hardcells with similar firepower. The pack could have been 2 Corvettes with a few Geonosian officers and a few nantex geonosian fighter squadrons
MC-40 seemed like an obvious choice. FFG even had art and info for it in their Essential Collection to Vehicles. Wold have been only the second Rebel medium ship and would have been, maybe, a second front shooting ship.
Yeah and each faction could've had at least two of their own. Rebels - GR-75 Rebel Transports and Dornian Braha'tok-class gunships Empire - Gozanti Class along with variants like the IGV-55 surveillance vessel Republic - CR-20 Troop Carriers and Corellian CSS-1 Transports Seperatists - C-ROC Gozanti Class Cruiser and Trident-class assault ships
The ship I most wanted to see was the Rebel Assault Frigate Mark 1. They released the Mark 2, but that Mark 1 was a thing of beauty to me - a Nebulan B style frigate designed for war. I also really wanted to see the Corellian Gunship, a similar combat variant of the Corellian Corvette - although the Imperial Raider fulfills the role in Armada and has its own appeal. Personally, with the high prices, I partnered with a friend for Armada in which he played Rebels and I played Empire - I would have loved to have seen more crossovers bringing ships from one faction to the other. A Rebel Star Destroyer, an Imperial Corvette or Frigate.
Especially since in Legends Imperial CR-90s and Nebulon-Bs weren't uncommon and the Rebels captured a Star Destroyer or two pre-Endor and more at the battle or in its aftermath. In fact one of the things I found ironic about the old Pocket models game was its base set had more Imperial Nebulons then Rebel Nebulons with its only Rebel Nebulon being a Medical Frigate conversion.
@ Exactly what I was thinking! I played a lot of Rebellion (the video game) growing up, and that’s how I fell in love with the Nebulan B and frigates in general. Great against fighters, bombers, and capital ships - everything. When I started playing Armada I constantly had to think of that strategy.
@@scottwaggoner223 Frigates were my favorite type of ship long before Rebellion came out. I read some of dad's old 19th century naval novels which often had Frigates as main ships when I was a kid. Plus a lot of my early tabletop wargamng experience (I started playing them with dad and his buddies when I was eight so about six years pre-Rebellion) were commanding Frigates or Frigate squadrons because Frigates were large enough for ship rules to apply to them but management was a lot less complicated then Cruisers. A Nebulon-B was the first ship a character of mine captained in a tabletop RPG when I was nine or ten. The Nebulon-B is my favorite canon Star Wars ship class and the main reason I usually play as the Rebel Alliance in Rebellion and Empire at War is because I prefer their Frigate selection, and overall small and midsized warship inventory in the games.
I'd be happy with ship card that allow ships to switch factions. There's canon examples of Rebel Quasars, Venators and Victory SDs. We can also already field an entire faction of Pirates with existing ships if the cards would support it.
I believe that we've seen that Gozanti in SW: Squadrons. FO and Resistance could've worked the same way they did in the X-wing when they were new, make them usable in Empire and Rebel fleets.
Definitely agree with the Dreadnaughts, Lucrehulk, and Reb arquitens. I think they should have also released cards for the SSD to convert it into the Lusyanka both for imperial and New Republic. The Liberator-class star defender would also have been cool. And a third Neutral faction i think would've been warranted, headed up by the Errant Venture.
Having watch some of your recent content, it does make me wonder if we'll every see X-Wing or Armada relaunched... Unlikely... but if WHFB can be reborn who knows
They could have made the core ships be a double ship pack as in the core ship could have been one ship and the full battle ship could have been another for different prices and the could have made them play different as well.
Legends wise I would have loved the Eye of Palpatine "superweapon" (literally just a Super Star Destroyer built inside a huge asteroid with a droid super computer running it.) It'd be a cool way to have a surprise attack for the Empire in a space battle with rebels.
To better sell the Corona Class Armed Frigate maybe sell it as a combo with some Flarestar-Class Attack Shuttles. Plus having Hondo Ohnaka with it would definitely helps it along and maybe add some pirate tricks and weapons to. I do think most people who would have purchased it would have done so just to fill out their collections. A re-release of the Arquitens as a Republic ship for Clone Wars Armada would have been very popular, so yeah I think it makes the list for sure. I so wish they had came out with a Lucrehulk, it would have been a perfect center piece for my CIS fleet. However it would have been nice to see some smaller ships for CIS as well. Core ship is not a bad option but the Separatists definitely needed more.
Well Assault Frigate would have been a good addition to the game, also yachts, cargo ships, passenger ships, they would have been nice for convoy or escort scenarios
As a Clone Wars guy I feel robbed. The empire and rebel fleets are pretty built out but the clone wars could have used at least 2 more ships for each faction
Totally agree. I always said once they drop clone wars content I will step into armada…and shortly after it’s like done… So much wasted potential there…
I also wish they added the Subjugator-Class dreadnought with Malevolence and Devastator titles/superweapons. I know it would've been a hard balance, but maybe make it like SSD point cost range and it'd be fine.
I agree and disagree with 10 and 8, they could just be cards, and I agree we needed the Pub Arq! When i think top 10 never got, i think actual new ships not variants. The armored Imp Neb b is a great example of an existing ship that could have had new plastic just because its so different visually. I think its a travesty that we never got Core ships/ Lancers/ CR or Dornian Gunships / Lucrehulks, the Subjugator and Republic Fleet Carriers. All things mentioned throughout the time line cannon and not. But I will never get over why we never saw Dreadnaughts. It literally could have been an ALL faction ship and much like the MC titles it could have had a cool new playstyle with no Admiral but the Katana fleet title could have filled that slot. Agree, the Arrestor would be nice, Stealth ship could have been cool for Anakin and Tarkin. So many ships still there and we would have gladly assembled from a sprue and painted if they would have just started printing...
There is a perfect new faction to add….. the Chiss Ascendancy. But they are only in books!!! So was the star hawk when it dropped. But we don’t even know what they look like!!! Also didn’t know what the Starhawk looked like when it came out. In fact, it was weird to watch mainstream Star Wars RUclipsrs have Armada pictures whenever they talked about it. The Chiss already have enough named things to fill out several commanders, officers, and titles. There are even enough ships to have large, medium, and small based ships!
Lucre hulk is the most missed ship for me. It is the ship that should have been in the cis starter! All in all I think GAR and CIS should have gotten one or two more waves. They need squad pack II so bad and 1-2 more ships would have been great. Ooh and a squad/bomber commander for CIS.
DP-20, Corellian gunship, smaller than a CR-90, so make them a flotilla, based on concept art. Loose cannon title from the game X-wing Alliance: "After the Battle of Hoth, the Corellian gunship Loose Cannon was used by a group of pirates in a raid on the Azzameen family's assets. Drawing the Azzameens in with the promise of black-market bacta, the Loose Cannon exited hyperspace and engaged the Firespray fighter Andrasta and YT-2000 transport Otana. Though the gunship inflicted significant damage to the Andrasta, it succumbed to their attack and combusted from within."- Wookiepedia (legends) Loose cannon: when attacked by fighters deal an additional (critical?) damage, ( lower point cost)
I feel like there should have been more huge type ships. They brought the huge weight class into existance, but we only got the SSD and nothing else. Seems like wasted potential to me. Could have brought the Viscount, Eclipse, Soverign, Preator 2, or other things like that.
I think what Disney was doing to Star Wars is what was making X-wing and Armada were so successful. People wanted the Star Wars they fell in love with and what was mostly already established.
I kinda disliked most of the list. Inflated/oversized ships are an absolute taboo to me; it's just lazy design, and absolutely unbelievable; the windows are bigger, so the rooms are bigger, so the windows are uncomfortably high off the ground, the doors are bigger, the chairs are bigger. In an oversized/inflated ship, everyone is going to look like children inside the ship. It'd be far less work to make an entirely new design instead of designing the same ship from the ground up, but bigger. And even if you could, why would you make a larger Gozanti, when Gozantis are such a boring design that nobody even realized it was from The Phantom Menace. I also don't want the door opened up to even more of Filoni's il-begotten giant ships. Cantwell's designs were influential, but it's like submitting "flour, eggs, milk, and sugar" to a cake-baking contest. Cantwell's stuff was super-early and don't fit in with the finalized designs seen in the movie, and are also not very appealing to me. That ship from Ahsoka is based on the same artwork as the MC-30, which is already in the game. But maybe. The IPV-2 makes the IPV-1 look like a madonna. Even if I push the turd-like shape to the side, it looks like it belongs in 2001 or Silent Running, not Star Wars. I've never liked the UFO ships; at least the Ithorian Herdship tried to do something slightly different. Hondo's ship is a literal UFO. If you're bringing in the full Lucrehulk, why would the Core Ship be such a high priority? Shoot, just include them both as a single release. Just make it so you can detach the core or the communications dishes/antennae (to make it look more like the Battleship version), just like you can pull a few parts off the X-Wing Gozanti. Print cards for the control ship, battleship, core ship, and even Lucrehulk without the core, and include them all in the Lucrehulk set. As for the Dreadnaught, of course it'd be a multi-faction ship. It's a Clone Wars design.
Lu. Cre. Hulk. Battleships. All I wanted was a lucrehulk battleship. I definitely feel like the only reason Armada didn't take off as much as it could have is because iconic ships weren't released regularly

Thank god that folks like Mel's Miniatures made models to fix that issue!
@@Nintendoggy Lucrehulks should've been one of the major combatants available, the BC range being where ships top out.

Katana Fleet Dreadnoughts. Edit: I didn’t wait until number two, lol.
Imperial Nebulon-B, Carrack, Lancer, MkI Assault Frigate, skipray blast boat, Senar Escort Carrier, imperial system patrol vessel. 😢 edit: Loronar Strike Cruiser.

As a Clone Wars guy I feel robbed. The empire and rebel fleets are pretty built out but the clone wars could have used at least 2 more ships for each faction
Totally agree. I always said once they drop clone wars content I will step into armada…and shortly after it’s like done…
So much wasted potential there…
I also wish they added the Subjugator-Class dreadnought with Malevolence and Devastator titles/superweapons. I know it would've been a hard balance, but maybe make it like SSD point cost range and it'd be fine.
You should check out legends attempt at making the subjugator, pretty interesting build. Uses a smaller SSD base at around 28cm instead of 35.5 cm.
I would have liked to of seen the Dreadnought, strike cruiser, Corellian gunship, Nebulon C?, Bulwark battleship and a Hapes cruiser
I wanted the other ships in the background shots of Return of the Jedi.
Loose cannon title from the game X-wing Alliance:
"After the Battle of Hoth, the Corellian gunship Loose Cannon was used by a group of pirates in a raid on the Azzameen family's assets. Drawing the Azzameens in with the promise of black-market bacta, the Loose Cannon exited hyperspace and engaged the Firespray fighter Andrasta and YT-2000 transport Otana. Though the gunship inflicted significant damage to the Andrasta, it succumbed to their attack and combusted from within."- Wookiepedia (legends)
Loose cannon: when attacked by fighters deal an additional (critical?) damage, ( lower point cost)
What about Assault Mark 1 or Strike cruisers, Lancer Frigates, Liberator and Gallant Cruisers? There's a bunch they could have done!
No mention of the anti-squadron frigate lancer? (Xwing book series)
Those 'squid' like CIS ships and the Republic Arquitens for me
Come on fan community, make them happen. Don't make us beg.
Great list! However I think the Malevolence should be in it.
Agreed. The Clone Wars Era needed a SSD-like ship for each faction…
I feel like there should have been more huge type ships. They brought the huge weight class into existance, but we only got the SSD and nothing else. Seems like wasted potential to me. Could have brought the Viscount, Eclipse, Soverign, Preator 2, or other things like that.
I wanted to have a Lucrehulk :(
Still waiting on that update that was supposed to be months ago
At least I got all the rebel and imperial ships
Loronar Strike Cruiser.
There are so many capital ships in Star Wars Lore that were not developed. Killing X-Wing and Armada That will be their downfall at Asmodee.
Also calling Imperial Assault a complete game.
will i get lucky this year with a give away? we'll see
So many good options here, just too bad
Whish they would make them "made to order" :(
jango fett :(
Nifty
Since Disney ruined Star Wars me and my group gave up Legion and Armada. Might come back if Legends/EU becomes canon one day.
Thank god there was not enough DisneyWars trash to make product for it.
