    A couple of degree's cooler is not gonna cut it when you have over 40 degree heat and sometimes multiple days as well. When it's 40 degree's even for a day, my room takes days to cool down.

I'm glad I have the big W one, coz now thanks to you, I know all the features the big W one is exactly what I need. Great video 🇦🇺 Cheers from Perth

    The most effective way to make these cool and work like they are designed to using evaporation is best to place the rear of these units in a hot dry hair source, the more humidity the less effective it is (these don’t work in QLD Australia for example due to high humidity). Ever put the washing on the line on a hot day? Ever walked between the clothes on a hot day? It approx 15 degrees cooler between the clothes. The same process happens in these coolers. If you can put these against a open window to the hot outside air and attempt to seal up the edges with towels etc then it will cool a room by approx 15-20 degrees from ambient outside temperatures. Having said that, because the air is being drawn in from outside the air also needs to return outside or the evaporation process suffers greatly. The honeycomb evaporation coolers work best. The rotating fabric filter ones are useless, as water is heavy and gravity drains it back into the tank before it can even evaporate, and air is going to take the easiest and path with less resistance (in this case with the rolling fabric, air will flow better through the dry parts of the rolling fabric in the Onix brand when air needs to be pushed past water to evaporate). Although these do work in a room without being in a window evaporation isn’t as effective when circulating the same room air.

      that's why I hate the ducted evaporative cooling we have in country NSW. if the temp goes above 33 degrees they are useless and in recent years it has become humid here during summer which doesn't help

    Depends what part of Australia you are at aswell with these portable air conditioners...it's muggy all year round up here in the tropics of Townsville and when in summer like now...the heat is at another level especially when you don't have a aircon in home....just wondering how they will go up here

    I'm not sure why you're measuring the temperature change with the thermometer resting on the cooler. You need to measure the room temperature change from a few metres away to see what difference they are actually making. For example a small cooler might pump out some cold air, but it will have a neglible difference to a whole room.

I'm assuming the choice in USB plug as a USB-C is probably just moving with the trend eventually all phones will use USB C because it is able to charge faster ( no idea how that works ) . I'm wondering if freezing the honey comb filter thing in the back of the anko one is such a good idea ,would that stop the air flowing as freely thru the filter

    For the Onix unit or any other type of unit that uses the Rotisserie type method (Bunnings- Click 12L unit or Target- 10L unit) you are better of putting ice in the top tray as it was designed to do because when the ice melts , it falls directly onto the Conveyer belt thru the small holes . Taking the unit apart and putting ice into the water is less effective than putting the ice in the top tray as it was designed to do .

    • @kellyrhodes6710
      @kellyrhodes6710 3 года назад +2

      I now retract my first comment as I have now tested my Bunnings 12 Liter Rotisserie unit and found that putting ice at the top compartment as it was designed to do and drip onto the conveyor belt was much less effective than putting ice into the water compartment . I used a thermometer to compare results . I'm now taking back my Rotisserie unit back to Bunnings and I'm getting a Kmart one with a proper filter using a water pump which cools better than the rotisserie crap unit where I can easily put ice into the water . The Bunnings unit I have also has the same problem of where you need to take half the thing apart to put ice in it.

  • @PauliusP33

    can it work without water? just the cold elements and frozen bottles or some shit in the tank? will it be effective?
    if i use it with water it will raise the already high humidity higher. and if i put a dehumidifier near it would the wireless water transfer solve the humidity problem?

    • @Philjj61
      @Philjj61 3 года назад +1

      It will be a fan without water there are no "elements", it will cool the air a bit with water, it will cool the air a bit more with cold water, it will cool the air a bit more with cold water and ice but it will not come near an air con in the end. I prefer these as I don't like the dry air from air con and live where it's usually dry when its hot. These add to the humidity, that's how they cool.
