    I could not imagine a better performance...I would like to thank each person who contributed to the making of this magnificent recording 🤗
    And here is the text : the original title is "Echo" by Christina G. Rossetti.
    Come to me in the silence of the night;
    Come in the speaking silence of a dream;
    Come with soft rounded cheeks and eyes as bright
    As sunlight on a stream;
    Come back in tears,
    O memory, hope, love of finished years.
    Oh dream how sweet, too sweet, too bitter sweet,
    Whose wakening should have been in Paradise,
    Where souls brimful of love abide and meet;
    Where thirsting longing eyes
    Watch the slow door
    That opening, letting in, lets out no more.
    Yet come to me in dreams, that I may live
    My very life again though cold in death:
    Come back to me in dreams, that I may give
    Pulse for pulse, breath for breath:
    Speak low, lean low,
    As long ago, my love, how long ago.

    Fantastic pianist! But seriously, it's almost impossible to imagine how a choir with an average age of 21/22 (?) can achieve such an immaculate performance. Well done!

    When I looked at the start of this score, I just saw three F major chords. But when this choir sings those chords I’m immediately whisked off onto a gravity-defying ride on a moonbeam. In that rare atmosphere we’re floating weightlessly in some liminal space. Maybe it’s that place where those souls brimful of love abide and meet. Anyway, it’s a miracle.

      I’ve posted the poem (public domain) twice in the last few minutes, but it’s disappeared. The title of the poem is “Echo” by Christina Rossetti. You can find the text online by Googling that information. Now I see the text has been left as a comment by the composer himself. Hopefully, that will not be deleted.

    Almost perfection, except for sopranos almost screaming. Not needed. Listen to the much maligned basses. They sing like angels?

    • @suzanba7
      @suzanba7 5 месяцев назад +1

      I disagree. Screaming played no part. 'Brimful of Love' meaning overflowing with love, so you are allowed to sound joyful, as indeed they do.

  • @aliasreco

    Beautiful but I'm suspicious.
    Why does the solo girl put one leg forward. Is she more in favor with the choir leader? I've been in a choir where morals were way below the morals they sang about. I would appreciate the choir way more if I'm more sure of their commitment to Jesus Christ.

    • @suzanba7
      @suzanba7 5 месяцев назад +2

      What an absurd remark. Helena is the Soprano soloist as stated. Perhaps you should look her up? I am a proud atheist, but I would happily play this at least once a week for the rest of my life - it is perfection.

      Singing technique involves filling the lungs with as much air as possible, particularly the lower lungs, by using the diaphragm. I assume that the ladies place their hands on their lower backs to check that they are filling the back of the lungs as well.
