    Great video Matt, never thought of that and I've never liked that cutout detail on the plinth so I'll definitely think of doing that in future. Just out of interest I fitted an AEG dishwasher recently which had a sliding system built into the door so that the decorative door slides up as you open it and clears the plinth. Blew my mind!
    Enjoying the channel Matt keep up the good work 👍

      Hi @simoncollett883 really glad you enjoyed it, it’s worth having in the back pocket for sure! I have actually fitted one of those dishwashers this year! May have been a Siemens tho. I actually messed it the first time but when I finally got it right I like it.
      Thanks so much for the support

      So glad it makes sense.
      I do sometimes go on so much I miss the point! I remember the day I though of it I was clamping offcuts to the dishwasher door on the kitchen fit I was doing to try to understand it. It really is so simple tho!
      That’s for the Sub too.

    Good vid luv. Most DW now have got the sliding door mechanism, but machines still need to built lower on handleless gola systems etc. The fixed pivot you have to lower them on with inframe as the door actually bottoms out on the machines recess. The templates always lined up the door to be at the top of the machine.. thats why i think weve all fell into the bracket that the machine needs to be right up
    With the slide mechanisms these tend to open to dry releasing steam all over the place. So i prefer them up against a quartz or compact laminate etc 😅

      Interesting.
      I have fitted one with the sliding door but the other 3 I did last year weren’t sliding doors. I guess it depends on customers budget!?! I guess I should have posted this video 10years ago🤦🏻‍♂️. I have noticed aswell that some of them specifically mentioned having a gap to the top but I guess this could be to cover them selves for the handless or aluminium trim kitchens that have come back in! Either way thanks for watching and great comment. I really appreciate it.💪🏻

      It's good stuff really. It's a bit in the life of a joiner brain. 🤣 reality vs what we'd all like to achieve... that's not a criticism by the way. Its refreshing. Keep up the You tube I'm sure it will help fund your big machine purchases. What sprayer are you using and are you spraying water based with a cross linker? Or 2k gear?

      Ha ha, Thanks mate.
      I use the graco turbo force II 9.5 hvlp. I really like it and suits me perfectly as the clean up is so easy. I use renner waterborne with renner YC M407 crosslinker. Again in works well and getting a really good result. Tbh I think a lot of it is to do with how I have the paint room setup tho!
      Don’t worry I don’t take it as criticism. The struggles and waffle go on here as that’s what most of my brain needs to vent. The highlights go on instagram if I am feeling like it!

      Cheers for the info. No noe of it was criticism 😅. I just know the waffle and head up the arse jumping through self made hoops is what I do. Reality isn't instagram etc.

    You can get a 'long door dishwasher' they have a mechanism that allows the wooden door to slide when longer than 720mm. Only an opinion...., i don't like it when the wooden door is higher than the machine door as the buttons are harder to get to. Your way does work though & well explained.

    • @Wattsjoinerybarn
      @Wattsjoinerybarn  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I think I have fitted one of those sliding ones. Didn’t know it was an option and called a long door dishwasher tho! I can’t say that a customer has ever commented on the buttons being hard to reach. I guess we sometimes make decisions for them based on what we think will look better, equally I bet most customers ever notice the plinth cut out detail! I have known it to be questioned tho.
      Thanks so much for watching.

      Really pleased you liked it. Another advantage is sometimes you can get the handles on if the doors on. Handy if the customer picks the handles late!

    Nice one bud will try that on my kitchen fit this year
    Deffo was a pain when I was fitting kitchens in the MFI era hated the cut outs like the one I have now
    My biggest bug was the sink units , the rails were always horizontal and nearly completely cut away I often used to replace them with solid timber for a bit of strength
    Happy new year 🎉

    • @Wattsjoinerybarn
      @Wattsjoinerybarn  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes mate that is a good one. They sell you a specific sink cabinet but it needs butchering to work! There is a German brand I have fitted where the sink rails are slim line metal and not in the way!
      Thanks for watching !

    offcut of shelf.. well.. make sure is well sealed all round, otherwise I guess hot air/steam will destroy pretty quick. Solid wood like you said would be the best. Great info!

    • @Wattsjoinerybarn
      @Wattsjoinerybarn  8 месяцев назад +1

      @tomasrdms2707 Ah Yes. Good point, you basically can apply the same sealing strip and tape you normally would with a new dishwasher but I didn’t have it so didn’t think to mention it. While I am mentioning it tho! The offcut actually tucks in behind the seal so steam doesn’t really get to it although you are right it still needs sealing and is good practice so well pointed out.
      Glad you liked it

    Happy New year mate, that's a belting idea so if you've leveled the worktop yourself you can put the same size make up piece front and back and wind the dishwasher up to them, kill two birds in one go. Just one thought, if it's not on the instructions of new machines and you fit it this brilliant way and the machine fails mechanically they may try the old warranty is Nil and Void due to not fitting as manufacturers per instructions. (I know I sound like a Karen)😊.

      @Wattsjoinerybarn  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Karen 😂 yeah totally get it. Tbh I have had one warranty claim but not for this and it was never mentioned.
      Appreciate you are right tho. Thanks for watching again. Great idea on winding up to the infills !
