I’ve watched a few videos as my son has recently bought his own house which needs a complete refurb throughout the house. I can honestly say, I’ve haven’t seen someone take so much care and go into so much detail to make sure someone kitchen is perfect, it’s amazing. A true craftsman! Well done mate! Not too good with the phones 😂😂😂. Just a quick note, drawing on the window, pure genius! I would never have thought of doing that so see it the other away around.
I do quite a bit of DIY including making and fitting my own kitchen. I will never use any other screw than a torx head now. No slipping and much more secure.
Rich, thanks for all the really in depth commentary, I think it’s how good teaching should be for us 60yr old, 2nd yr apprentice’s .
I've got no experience fitting kitchens or and diy skills whatsoever , but I think if I follow this I will definitely be able to do it myself 👍
I bought the trend snappy bit set when i asked what set it was while you were doi g the stairs on the loft conversion👍what a time saver they are thankyou👌
We have just had a wren kitchen, absolutely perfect. Everything fitted as measured only one problem one door handle missing you can’t fault that. highly recommend Wren kitchens.👍
I’m glad your install went well for you. You must have caught them on a good day 👍🏻
15:52 Another trick when you put wall brackets to mark on wall. When you snap brackets in half, use the left side bracket on the right side to mark and right hand side bracket on left side to mark on wall. You don't need to mark the thickness of carcass on wall. Very clever design.
Or don't snap them in half, use them as one piece, they are spaced so you can screw the bracket to the wall as one piece when fixing a run of units. You may wish to notch the cabinet to allow for the thickness of the metal.
hi mate. Good old ren designer strikes again. It should have had 2 end panels each side of the 600 draw pack to match the top and the 500 wall cab on the right changed to a 600 to match the base cab. Must have for all kitchen fitters is a pocket hole jig and set of u scribes.woud be concerned about how lowe them wall cabs are as well mate. heat transfer from hob to end panels. Doing a good job with the hand you have been dealt mate. Looking forward to the finish. I personally would have made ren do another design and change all the cabs before I started and then billed them for down time 👍👍👍
There was no chance of billing for down time. They don’t care about the fitter having to come back and finish the kitchen they cocked up and of course I wouldn’t have expected to get paid until the job was complete so had to wait 👍🏻
@@Mr_A_Builders you will find they never blame there designer mate. I said previously we don't fit ren any more. We are like yourself Self employed and like to be in and out. We are lucky that we just do kitchens and bathrooms so we are able to turn down the ren jobs. I've had plenty of compensation from them in the past. It's a long winded process and the customer has to sort it with them. The best 1 is when you have a big pile of leftovers you don't need and they tell your customers they gave them it all free so they can't return it.🤯🤯🤯🤯. Your a good hand mate but not primadonna enough for fitting kitchens 🤣😂🤣🤣. We like to spit out our dummy and go home if the jobs not how we won't it 😂😂😂. Wait until you get a ren tru handles mate🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯. Keep up the top work mate. Love the videos.👍🤙👍🤙👍
What’s happening with Adams house, not seen anything from him for a while
M8... Adams eloped with his mother in laws neighbour 🙄 Seems her trampoline was too tempting for him to resist and he jumped at it... 🤭
Hello Phil, hope you're well mate. Adam here...I've had to go and do some other jobs to keep everything ticking over but I'm back on my house as we speak so a new video will be out as soon as I've done enough to warrant showing people! News of my trampoline fuelled elopement has been greatly exaggerated!!! Thank you for sticking with us, all the best.
@@Mr_A_Builders 🤣 Ha Ha.... you jumped at that one. No exaggeration 🤫
Howdens do a 2.4-meter continuous wall bracket for the wall-hung cabinets that allow you to screw into the studs and hang and slide the cabinets into final positions. Requires a routered notch in the back side of the cabinets to save measuring everything to death.
Sounds good. I only do a kitchen when’s it’s part of our main build now so not up to day with everything available so I have to rely on the kitchen company doing their job correctly which in this case they failed 👍🏻
Brilliant mate iv just finished my kitchen wish you had done it I am a macnic
screwfix have the spacers they are called Space-Plug Kitchen Cabinet Space Plugs
Those orange fixings can be brought from tool station. 👍
Remove the door from the blind corner unit. Measure the actual size so 500mm for a 496 door and fix the panel there. Screw it from the outside but keep your fixings back behind 570 for the return.
Didn’t want to take the door off because it was a magic corner pull out unless yes that would have worked 👍🏻
Computer says no got me hahaha. Great videos
those adjustable clips at the back of the wren units can be purchased from howdens joinery
Thumbnails: THE WREN KITCHENS SCANDAL CONTINUES. Video: I quite like these Wren kitchens actually.
Carol: “Computer says NO.” 😂😂😂
Now that you have nearly finished the kitchen, is there any chance you would show us the installation of a wardrobe carcass 😃, I m thinking of building one in a prebuilt ope and was hoping to learn some tips and techniques, love the channel !
If we had one coming up I’d happily show you but just use the same way as installing a tall cupboard but that’ll be next episode maybe 👍🏻
The orange spacers are available from toolstation
Neodymium Magnets, i have a few small ones and they are strong as hell.
I'm at a party so I'll watch later, hope it is a simple fix
Hi mate, Im an Electrician and I have never stuck a screwdriver into a live MCB to make it magnetic as that would be very dangerous 😉
I'd of cleared off that windsill 😂,that's where my brew ☕ would be placed.😅
😂
Hi Rich, the base drawer unit was that actually a 500mm unit because the caption that came up on the screen at 10.55 stated it was a 600mm unit, seems Wrens designers have strange ideas. We will have to see how it all looks when done. At point 18.17 on the video will you have to fix 2 end panels to the right hand side of the wall unit ?
Don’t think I explained myself very well Kev but it will all become clear on the next episode 👍🏻
Unfortunately, we have got a couple of problems with our Wren kitchen. A guy came out twice to measure for that plan you mentioned. No one noticed that a PowerPoint was going to interfere with the cooker cabinet, and I had to dig out the wall and move it across. Two rings on the hob don't work, and the slow close drawer runner is faulty. They didn't leave enough room under the breakfast bar for the flooring to be fitted. Not impressed.
I've just fitted a customer supplied B&Q kitchen. The word quality should be never used in the same sentence as one of these kitchens. The false economy in buying one of these is simply staggering. They've ended up paying nearly as much as a Howdens with all the problems i had to overcome and ended up with something that is garbage. Never again!
And if by magic another extension appears. 👍👍
having fitted over 100 kitchens in last 7 years wen isnt a company id use again infact i was asked to fit one a few months ago and turned the customer down had nothing but trouble with wrens customer services
The main problem is the kitchen planners have never fitted a kitchen in their lives and also being paid retainer and bonus they sell as much as they can . When I did fit wren kitchens there was always so many panels that were needed they used to do as with your job plan for a bigger cabinet because it was more bonus when a smaller cabinet would allow all pipe work to be hidden easier . Now days I make my own carcasses and doors never a problem I invested in a cnc router and every edge is sealed instead of having to adapt I also make all carcasses from 25mm marine ply and then venner after all fittings hidden yes more expensive but quality I've taken out 5 wren kitchens after 2 years because clients weren't happy infact Bern asked to qoute firva hand made kitchen for a client in there villa in South of France ps I'm not a trained chippy but a ship Wright by trade and there is only one way to do a job that is correctly on time and fault free the customer deserves it
That sounds like you have a really good set up there mate and a job in the South of France Nice!
I can’t agree more with your last paragraph, there is no point making loads of effort to achieve poor workmanship and produce something that the customer doesn’t like. Thanks for taking the time to comment on our channel and let me know if there’s room for me in the South Of France 😁👍🏻
Good tip regarding plan on the window. In addition, when we did our When kitchen, we stuck the big wall plans on the wall, so they're were easily visible. I assume you got one for base units and one for wall units right?
Your kitchen fitting looks better than that terrible plumbing
Hi im not a fitter or even a carpenter just an observation could the units in utility be brought forward either side of washer to give more flush look
Great informative vids thanks
Hi Rob. It’s a good observation mate but it was a bit tight in the right hand corner if we moved it forward and the customer wanted it like that 🤷
Ok mate just an observation keep smashing vids out 👌
Hi there, really enjoy your vids'. Can you tell me where you got your oak internal doors from they look great ! TIA.
They came from Howdens 👍🏻
Does the plan not show overall length for units then can work back to show what corner should be? Keep up the good work, enjoy watching these vids. Cheers
Always start in the corner and work out. Once your corners in, sit the next unit in, level up, screw off and repeat.
Another great video Rich. Where did you get that drill pouch? I've been looking everywhere for something similar but just can't find anything close
Another great video how's the gang
Cheers Paul. We are all good thank you mate keeping busy. 👍🏻
Love the music - any links?
We are using an app called epidemic and we like it so far. A good range of music for all tastes 👍🏻
Worst job i ever had to do was fit a kitchen. Not even a fitters apprentice, took me ages to get it right, cheap thing from B&Q (family job, you know how it is) im NEVER doing it again. Cheapest flimsiest materials ever, was sweating with every dowel worrying about breaking something.
What size drill bit do you use when joining your units? And does yours have a countersunk bit built in? Thanks :)
Hi and thanks for taking the time to comment on our video. I’ve got a set of different size Trend countersink bits but couldn’t tell you the size whatever suits a no. 8 screw. I’ve tried many different brands and these seem to stop sharp the longest 👍🏻
@@Mr_A_Builders appreciate the feedback and the video.
I originally had an ikea kitchen.. i have just had a wren kitchen fitted.. exactly the same as my Ikea kitchen was and I can not fit half the things back in the cupboards because they are so small… Ikea units go to the back of the wall wren do not and the shelves also do not come all the way to the front of the units , ikeas do… I had so many damages with my wren kitchen units.. it’s been an absolute nightmare and I wish I’d gone back to Ikea cause I love pullouts and gadgets…. I don’t see the point in the kidney bean corner pullout when it only fits three pans on it….and they also waste a lot of corner space in their designs too… Ikea was more or less wall to wall corner to corner… when you go to a wren shop they have all the different manufacturers of kitchen units built up and on display .. all except IKea!!… because they can not compare to Ikea!!…. 😢
Have you tried a magnetiser/demagnetiser I have had positive results in the past.
Did you use rawl plugs at all or are they special screws. Toolstation sell the space plugs.
What do u call those things at 19.20 that's this orange spacers like thing?
They are called space plugs and you can get them at Screwfix etc 👍🏻
2pcs Multifunction Universal Magnetizer Ring,Removable Magnetic Steel for 6.35mm Screwdriver Bits Multifunction Hand Power Tools Accessories
How many hours did it take to put your base units in place?
What Huepar laser level do you use?
Hi. Not sure which model number but I have the 360 degree version. I can’t fault it at all, Had it for a while now and has never let me down. 👍🏻
Hey mate the base unit at 37:15 did you put in the insert sheet to cover that gap?
If you mean the white faced 6mm MDF that comes with the cupboard to close the gap in then yes of course
What happened to the work at Adam house ??????
Hello John, I'm back on it now so there will be a new video as soon as I've got something to show for it! Stick with us mate, I'm on it!
Wouldn't it be better to just swap the bridging unit to 600mm so it lines perfect, there is lots of space above left
The price of that Bosch planer it should come with a dust bag 🤔
Yes mate I know but well worth the money
Is your channel picture this kitchen finished?
No it’s another blokes kitchen and Adam used it from his photo library so don’t mention it again it’s a sore subject 😂😂👍🏻
Them fixing spacings are a good idea, not seen them before, do Wren supply them?
@@JackT9595 Thanks Jack 👍
Howdens sell them so do screwfix and toolstation
I would have personaly thrown it back at the desinger and billed them for the custom work you had to do to make a simple design work correctly have they never heard of symmetery and im absolulty sure their computer design softwear was screeming at them saying in red type face IT WONT FIT but after nearly 35 years of fitting kitchens i can hear them mumbling oh dont worry the self-employed fitter will sort that ive been paid! invoice them they will soon do it correctly and your estimate for time and cost wont be eaten into, but dont hold your breath
I cant disagree with any of that statement but they don’t care do they let’s face it. I will never fit one again in my life time that’s a fact. Thanks for commenting 👍🏻
Why did you not paint the walls under the base units. Not much saving in paint and it looks messy
We didn’t paint it the customer did but it is behind the units and they’d got a lot to paint so they may have saved themselves a couple of litres 👍🏻
Personally I'd go with buying a bit of extra paint just for the, minimal, extra protection for the plaster. That being said I don't think it matters too much - these jobs can be expensive, save money where you can.
These days a lot of screws aren't even magnetic. God knows what they're made from
Chinezium
😂
Why oh why oh WHY... do you fit the doors while installing the kitchen??? Every video I have seen, the so-called fitter fits the door and drawer fascias as the job goes along. I can only presume You like to replace damaged fascias all at your own expense!
You would talk a glass eye to sleep as that’s a simple piss pot kitchen to fit and really your making a mountain out of a mole hill 😂😂😂
I don’t think your grasping the concept of RUclips or should I say our channel. If you don’t like it you’ve got an option. Have a great evening 👍🏻
