Apparently, it's tradition to invite strangers in?? Never heard of it before, but it was lovely and the couple were so sweet 😊
Anyone can go to the ceremony as it should be (by law) a public one. So I can enter any church or town all and attend the ceremony without an invitation. Where I live we call it "andare a vedere gli sposi" (going to see the newlyweds). Do mind I would never sit front row together with the guests.

Yes, we're not so religious. We just do weddings in a church cause the location is much more beautiful and cause of traditions. Ma aspe, non sei italiana anche tu? Dal nome sembra
You may not be religious but you cannot speak for all Italians. It is.more complex than you make it. Many Italians are not practicing Catholics but most believe in the transcendent. I think you are simplifying this very important aspect. And the percentage you gave of atheists is much too high I've seen studies where this percentuale is much lower. I really think you should stick to more frivolous subjects because religion is a very delicate subject and you risk offending people.

Yes, in a few weddings I've been the bride gave it to her sister or a close friend, but we usually throw the buquet in Spain.
