Love Ken Follett. Am so happy to find him after 50 years . Look forward to many hours of happy listening. Thank you for the availability of his books on Audio. Thank you Ken Follett for the pleasure of reading you.
My first books by Follett were pillars of the earth. I still have them! Since then I've read most of his Wonderful books! Now I've been listening to them as well. Ty for these! I hope my grandkids will read them and not just throw them away when I pass on!
I read pillars while the poem was out for days during hurricane Ike. World, the prequel I read a few years later. Showtime I think it was did a mini series on both that was good.
Follett is my favorite author! My first book was Hammer of Eden, and I was hooked. Dyslexia has kept me from being an avid reader,(doing most of my reading to researching various subjects,)and now health and age has made it even harder to be able to read, so these are a treasure to me to listen. I've read more of Follett's books than Stephen King or Anne Rice, so that's saying something. Hahaha. I want to consume all of his books!
I concur! I haven't even finished this book and it's one of the greatest stories and I love the depth of the characters. That's the mark of a good book - it feels very real.
Great plot! Great narrator! This is not your run of the mill plot - really hooks you in. Well done! I'll have to read more Ken Follett. Excellent book!
Thank you, I really enjoyed this audiobook! Haven't listened to an audiobook in yrs, nor have I read any Ken Follett for yrs. Thoroughly enjoyed this, and will listen to more.
My first Follett was Key to Rebecca, a spy thriller. Several thrillers later, Pillars of the earth was a 180 turn, but just as much of a fascination. A good writer, is a good writer, no matter the subject.
I read Pillars of the Earth, not once, but twice! Loved every page of it! I’m looking forward to listening to listening to A Place Called Freedom as I sit in my recliner, cuppa at my elbow and knitting my newest project. Ken Follett can capture my imagination quite nicely. 💕🧶💕
@@sharonsloan I just downloaded “World Without End” from my local library. Planning on starting it later today. Thanks for info! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, 🦃
Is there something playing under this book? It sounds almost like when a radio station isn’t coming in perfectly and another station is sort of seeping in underneath. I was listening with really good earbuds on high volume as I was doing housework, that’s when I heard it. Weird.

Greatly respect and enjoy Follet's books, but this has inexplicable plot flaws and characters behave oddly at times. For example, when Jay and Lennox are seeking Cash, during the strike and they know that Cora is his woman, they despair of not knowing his lodgings or which of several coffee houses he will appear at every morning and Cora's loyalty means she'll not be persuaded to tell, but they can probably pay off the kid, Quick Peg, to reveal his whereabouts. Yet the obvious way to locate him would be to go to Cora's place, no secret.
I know realise that this audio book is not complete. I cannot find any continuation and the rest of what must be the complete story. I hate it when this is done. I feel totally cheeted. It would make me not want to buy or listen to this author again.
What an abrupt ending. It seems there should be more to this than getting Macs address. That is where this audio finished. In Mid Air. What a dissapointment. If this is the quality of Ken Folletts audio book you can keep it.
Appreciate your request, hope they change the settings and reupload this book. I always appreciate captions for cultural information and to expand my language skills. Hope the audiobook uploaders and youtube makes access mandatory.
Check out other platforms that do comply with accessibility and also that have descriptive captioning to explain accents which otherwise aren't included to people with sound barriers and character building such as sound inflections dealing with emotional behavior. I have also found that the captioning is based on high-end streaming only and lacks many of the actual words that are part of the original books, some are missing whole chapters while others cut out, or repeat paragraphs. Good luck!
Beware: this is nothing more than a bodice-ripping dime novel masquerading as historical fiction. If you are more of a discriminating reader then you may want to give this book a pass. I already suspected that this author was rubbish when I read _Pillars of the Earth_ several years ago and found the character development lacking, the plot implausible, the research incomplete and the prose subpar, but I decided to give him another attempt because of the setting of this book. Let's just say that he didn't subvert my expectations. This book includes all of the insipid tropes polluting the romance genre, complete with a highly-sexed Mary-Sue heroine (whom everyone seems to desire), a love triangle, several damsel-in-distress plot points and gratuitous sex scenes that glorify sexual objectification, infidelity and incest. This book was inappropriately advertised as a historical fiction but it should be marketed as a historical romance because it caters to an entirely different reader demographic. Anyway, thought I'd give a heads up for those who wouldn't want to invest their time in this sort of book. Cheers.
Wow Pillars of the Earth is my all time favorite read. Ken Follett has to be one of best story tellers of the 21st century. The novel Pillars of the Earth also sold millions. And Oprah Winfrey pleaded with her viewers to read the book, claiming it was the best book she had ever read. Every person I know who has read the book, claims the same thing. You are the only person to not like the book. I'm truly stunned. Also, A Place Called Freedom is another Ken Follett hit...as usual.
