    I'm in exactly the same situation. Ever since that first branding course during my masters marketing management i just fell for it. Against all advice of my family i went on to follow a 1 year design course. Today i can say this was my best decision yet. A pitty that i didnt start graphic design earlier. @madewithdaria  8 дней назад +1

      Thank you!! That thought definitely crossed my mind. Especially when I attended Adobe Max conference in London and they were talking about AI non-stop, super annoying. However, I believe that even though some technology may replace the tools, it’ll never replace humans’ creative thinking and emotional intelligence. Every artist puts a piece of themselves into what they make, so human art is irreplaceable in this sense :)

    You have to spent like 10 year working in Graphic Design until you can call yourself a Graphic Designer. A year is NOTHING in any professional practice

    • @madewithdaria
      @madewithdaria  24 дня назад +7

      I absolutely understand, but I feel like getting yourself immersed in the identity you want to be in someday really helps to achieve the goal. It motivates me to work harder because I know that calling myself a graphic designer imposes more responsibilities on me to be better and act a certain way!

    • @zen-zen191

      Hmm not sure about this opinion but mine is jobs have different levels for the same title. I'm a junior graphic designer with 1 year experience but if someone asks I just say I'm a graphic designer. If not what would I call myself ? I have never met a designer say they're a senior designer. I do understand what you mean in terms of there's a lot to learn.. but even with decades of experience you can learn something new. The opportunities are endless

      @@madewithdaria Please disregard that person's comment, that's an absolute joke! You do not need X amount of years to call yourself a graphic designer. If you're confident in your skills and you're an aspiring graphic designer then by all means you can call yourself one! You decide that, not anyone else. I understand in the professional environment, potential employers might want a minimum amount of years required using certain software (adobe etc).

    I've been having an emotional breakdown since this afternoon because I'm anxious about what to do with my life, and then your video shows up in my recommendations and reassures me 🥹
    I'm currently doing an Associate degree that I don't want, with the hope that I can use it as a stepping stone to get into the Bachelor's that I actually want (Psychology)... But you see, I'm a creative person and I've spent a lot of time in the past teaching myself art, graphic design, video editing, front-end web development - all the stuff 😅 The problem is, I feel anxious whenever I spend time on those things now - because I don't really have a strong support system and I keep fearing that someone is going to tell me I'm wasting time, or that practising my skills doesn't matter since I'm not making money from it, or that I should get a summer job... etc. These are all things I've been told repeatedly at home, and it's been taking a toll on me mentally since it's from someone who I really care about and want to make proud.
    I purposely have NOT been trying to get a job this summer because:
    1) I'm a bit traumatised by some bad job-hunting experiences I've had over the years (and the one job I got basically fired me for a stupid reason and disregarded all my hard work) and...
    2) Getting a full-time job right now will only make it harder to work on graphic design, which I've been trying to get into as a freelancer recently. I know some people balance the two, but it's difficult for me at this point in my journey.
    It's been really rough, but a friend of mine who has been working as a graphic designer has started the process of launching his own design business and he's welcomed me to be a part of the team, so I have some hope and I'm just trying to stay positive and improve my skills. Still, it's very hard to move forward when you don't feel supported by those closest to you. It's heartbreaking for me to the point where I feel physically ill...
    Anyway! On a positive note! I'm glad I got to watch your video, and I'm really interested in seeing more stuff from you since you seem so nice and relatable 🥹 Wishing you all the best as you continue your journey with graphic design and Fashion Business! ✨🫶✨
